cbs_the_new_adventures_of_old_christine_julia_louis_dreyfusFor the past two years, ABC has expressed interest in picking up 'The New Adventures of Old Christine' if CBS decided to drop it. This year is no different. According to Deadline.com, if CBS cancels 'The New Adventures of Old Christine,' ABC will snap it up. The network even has a plan for where to program the Julia Louis Dreyfus sitcom. It'll be paired with Patricia Heaton's 'The Middle,' leading in to 'Modern Family' and 'Cougar Town.'

That would make for a very solid night of comedy, likely Wednesday again, which is what worked so well this season for ABC -- with the exception of Kelsey Grammer's woeful 'Hank,' which was mercifully axed by ABC last November.

The series finale of 'Lost' is just one of the May Sweeps highlights for ABCFor the networks, the month of May means just one thing: Sweeps -- the time of year where the Big 4.5 networks pull out all the stops to end their seasons with high ratings and, hopefully, increased ad revenue.

For ABC, this is a particularly important Sweeps period. Not only are a number of renewed freshman and sophomore series ending in the next few weeks, but the network's flagship program -- 'Lost' -- is completing its long and complicated run. Needless to say, they've packed the schedule with guest-stars, trips to exotic locales, and a return of 'The Bachleorette.'

As mentioned, the series finale of 'Lost' is big doings. On Sunday, May 23rd, the network will air a two-hour 'Lost Recap Special' starting at 7:00 p.m. followed by the last episode at 9:00 p.m.. To the cap the night off, Jimmy Kimmel will interview the creators and cast of 'Lost' on a special Sunday edition of 'Jimmy Kimmel Live.'

charlie sheen two and a half men deal It looks like Charlie Sheen's uncle Joe won't be taking over his role on 'Two and a Half Men' after all (like that was ever going to happen). While lawyers hammer out a plea deal to end the troubled actor's legal woes comes news that he and CBS are ready to cut a deal to keep him on the hit sitcom.

According to Deadline Hollywood, Sheen and CBS are both "cautiously optimistic" about a new deal that would keep the star cracking wise in bowling shirts for two more seasons on 'Two and A Half Men.' This comes, of course, after Sheen publicly declared that he was ready to leave the show, leading us to speculate on who could replace him (my vote was for James Franco).

Jimmy_Fallon_Late_night_NBCThe Primetime Emmys are still months away - the night of Sunday, August 29, to be exact - but the talk in Hollywood has already started swirling about who's going to host the show. An announcement is expected next week and since NBC is doing the broadcast, 'Late Night' host Jimmy Fallon is being mentioned prominently.

According to Entertainment Weekly, NBC has urged the TV Academy board to give Jimmy Fallon the thumbs up. Fallon's presence, the network contends, would appeal to a younger demographic. Terms like Twitter and Facebook have been thrown around to prop up the argument.

That's right, his manager told TV Guide that the previous stories had incorrectly put him in the same boat with Michael Weatherly, Sean Murray and Pauley Perrette.

McCallum's manager explained, "I'm sure some of the others are negotiating, but he's not affected by it. He falls into the Mark Harmon/Rocky Carroll category. He's signed on for additional seasons. He's excited to be coming back to the show and can't wait to see everybody."

Betty WhiteAs the date for Betty White's hosting gig on 'Saturday Night Live' comes ever closer (May 8th), NBC is releasing more promos featuring the grande dame of television.

In the first promo, similar to one mentioned here earlier this week, Betty addresses rumors that have her dating Zac Efron. Apparently, as the camera pans around the room, those rumors are totally false. In the second promo, Ms. White wonders if her 'SNL' gig will lead to bigger and better hosting duties for, perhaps, the Academy Awards. Oprah Winfrey Daytime queen Oprah Winfrey has added some additional programming to her up-and-coming cable network.

According to the Live Feed, OWN (aka the Oprah Winfrey Network) will launch 'Inside Rehab,' an eight-episode series documenting patients inside an eating disorder treatment facility. No word yet on a premiere date.

'Inside Rehab' is just one of many shows set to join OWN, which officially launches on Jan. 1. Among the highlights: 'Behind the Scenes: The Oprah Show Final Season,' 'Breaking Down the Bars,' 'Enough Already,' 'In the Bedroom With Dr. Laura Berman' and 'Inside With Lisa Ling.'

As Inside TV previously reported, BFF Gayle King will also bring her radio show, 'Gayle King Live!', to the small screen, while Grammy-winning superstar (and recent 'American Idol' mentor) Shania Twain will star in the reality series 'Why Not? With Shania Twain.'

Damon Lindelof says not all questions will be answered in the 'Lost' finaleThe creators of 'Lost' are not nice people. Oh, they may entertain us with smoke monsters, islands that are not islands and time jumps that would trick even H.G. Wells, but they have left so many questions unanswered during the last five seasons that fans are still trying to figure out what the heck is going on. The only thing that's keeping them going is the feeling that all will be answered in the series finale.

Well, guess what? That's not happening, either.

So says co-creator Damon Lindelof. In an interview with the Live Feed, Lindelof states that they'll be as definitive as they can be with their ending; however, people are still going to say, "What did they mean by that?" That's not to say the finale is going to be like the still talked about cut-to-black ending of 'The Sopranos.'

barbra_streisand_high_school_yearbookEver since 'Glee' began, there's been a thread running through it that's always reminded me of Barbra Streisand. In last Tuesday's episode, the thread was more like a rope, as four characters did the medley "One Less Bell/A House Is Not A Home," just like Streisand did in the 1971 Burt Bacharach TV special.

Apparently, others have picked up on this connection, too. This review in New York magazine suggested that the 'Glee' should really do a Barbra Streisand episode -- like the Madonna show -- because Barbra is 'the patron saint' of 'Glee' kids.

Whether they do an all-Streisand show or not, the writer made a great point about how the kids in New Directions are more akin to Brooklyn Barbra than almost any other performer. Before she graduated Erasmus Hall High School in 1959, Barbra Streisand was in glee club. (So was Neil Diamond!) But Streisand wasn't the star of Choral Club. The director, Mr. De Pietto, preferred blonde soprano,Trudy Wallace, and gave her all the solos. Streisand was put in the back, in the alto section.

ConanAh, what a difference one year can make.

Last year, Time magazine did a cover story on Jay Leno and his big move to primetime, in which the magazine called him the "future of television."

But on this year's list of the 100 Most Influential People, Leno is nowhere to be found. Who made it instead? Yep, you guessed it: former 'Tonight Show' host Conan O'Brien.

South Park'South Park' has been censored before, but not as blatantly as it was for their two-part anniversary episodes '200' and '201.' Even 'The Simpsons' showed their support for the silenced Colorado kids. Tonight is the mid-season finale and the question on possibly everyone's mind is: will Trey Parker and Matt Stone have any further commentary on the entire Muhammed situation?

My guess is that the issue won't even be addressed. Trey Parker and Matt Stone said as much with a public statement on the 'South Park' website. With only one episode to go until their break, they may not want to stir the pot (although pot-stirring is certainly their forté).

Steve Carell in 'The Office' - 'Manager and Salesman'Leave it to the Brits to ask the questions we here in the States just won't ask. Despite all the interviews Steve Carell and Tina Fey did before the premiere of the movie 'Date Night,' not one interviewer that I saw here in the US thought to ask Carell how much longer he was going to play Michael Scott on 'The Office.'

However, OfficeTally.com says that someone from the BBC thought enough to ask, and got a surprising response: Carell said he thinks he's done with the show after his contract is up at the end of the seventh season. It could be a negotiating ploy, but it might be a sincere wish on Carell's part to do something else.

Could 'The Office' go on without Carell? Maybe. Though I'm not sure I'd want it to.

david letterman runner runnerDavid Letterman is ready to rock and/or roll. The late night host's company, Worldwide Pants, has started yet another venture that has nothing to do with pants: a record label.

Letterman has signed California pop/punk rockers Runner Runner to his new Clear Entertainment/C.E. Music label. The band's catchy, if not so groundbreaking, first single, 'So Obvious,' is streaming now on their MySpace page. The label will release Runner Runner's debut album later this summer.
