'DWTS' Backstage Q&A: Hines Ward and Kym Johnson on Winning the Mirrorball Trophy!

by Michael Maloney, posted May 25th 2011 7:00AM
Kym Johnson and Hines WardWith the scores among the three finalists in 'Dancing With the Stars' being so close it was going to come down to who had the strongest fan base. In the end, the Steeler Nation, the fan base of the pro football team that Hines Ward plays for in Pittsburgh, turned out to be stronger than all the 'Cheers' and 'Disney' fans.

Ward and his partner Kym Johnson took home the coveted mirrorball trophy. Emmy-winning actress Kirstie Alley and partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy came in second. Disney star Chelsea Kane and partner Mark Ballas, who was celebrating his 25th birthday yesterday, came in third.

Immediately after the show, the ballroom dance floor turned into a media frenzy. ABC publicists quickly set up a press line with a white, plastic chain-link fence, separated by poles, with press on one side, stars and dancers on the other, and a flurry of interviews began.

AOL TV was on the scene to talk to the new champions, the runner-ups and other Season 12 participants.

'The Biggest Loser: Couples' Season 11, Episode 21 (Season Finale) Recap

by Jason Hughes, posted May 25th 2011 5:30AM
Irene, Hannah & Olivia, 'The Biggest Loser' finale['The Biggest Loser: Couples' - 'Live Finale']

These shows being what they are, it can be a bit of an endurance test at times. Alison Sweeney has improved as a live host, but she still has some very awkward moments delivering lines.

And then there are just those awkward moments production-wise as they try to get through 20-odd weigh-ins and everything else. In fact, the weigh-ins is about all they had time for on this Season 11 Finale of 'The Biggest Loser.'

As this is Jillian Michaels's last season on the show I thought for sure we'd get some emotional tribute video to her and the impact she's made, but all we got was a few quick words when the trainers were brought out. Speaking of which, they did introduce her replacement.

The Go-Gos Perform While Maks Dances With Three Women on 'DWTS' Finale (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted May 25th 2011 2:38AM
The Go-Gos, 'Dancing with the Stars'Celebrating the 30th anniversary of their debut album, 'Beauty and the Beat,' The Go-Gos gave a special performance of their signature song 'We Got the Beat' on the 'Dancing With the Stars' (Tue., 9PM ET on ABC) Season Finale. But this is 'DWTS,' so we knew that wasn't going to be all we got.

Maksim Chmerkovskiy
took to the stage with a trio of beauties with a fun routine that had him starting as a police officer chastising the girls for dancing on the judges' table. When they started taking his clothes off, we couldn't help but be reminded of a whole different type of entertainment, but it stayed wholesome family fun.

It was great seeing The Go-Gos still rocking in their first televised appearance in five years. After 30 years in the business they still look and sound fantastic, and they brought a sense of fun and energy that defused the tension as the three finalists waited on the edge of their seats to see who would take home the mirrorball trophy.

'Dancing With the Stars' Season Finale Recap: The Winner Is ...

by Katy Kroll, posted May 25th 2011 2:35AM
Three final dances, three perfect scores ... and just one mirrorball trophy.

In what might have been the most evenly matched season ever, it was anyone's trophy to take home on the finale of 'Dancing With the Stars.' And indeed there was a shocker -- at least when it came to the top two.

Going into the season 12 finale, Hines Ward and Chelsea Kane seemed like the clear front-runners, with Kirstie Alley trailing behind them by five points after Monday night's performances.

But, as always, the freestyle challenge was a game-changer and the person I hoped would win wound up coming in third.

'The Biggest Loser' Season 11 Finale: Before & After

by Maggie Furlong, posted May 25th 2011 2:22AM
When a show gets to its 11th season, you'd expect things to get a little predictable, but not on 'The Biggest Loser.'

This season saw women nab three of the top four slots -- including the series' first sisters to make it to the top together, fierce competitors Hannah and Olivia -- and some amazing transformations all around.

With over 2,000 pounds lost this season, the reveals were jaw-dropping and the stories were tear-jerkers in tonight's live finale. They also introduced brand-new trainer for next season, tennis pro Anna Kournikova.

!!!SPOILER ALERT!!! Take a look at some of the show's biggest losers of the season after the jump, find out who won the at-home $100,000 prize, and find out who took home the grand prize of $250,000 and the title 'Biggest Loser.'

'The Biggest Loser: Couples' Season Finale: And the Winner Is ... (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted May 25th 2011 1:50AM
'The Biggest Loser: Couples' finaleAlison Sweeney started the night by reminding us that this has been the longest season of 'The Biggest Loser: Couples' (Tue., 8PM ET on NBC) so far. After 20 weeks of competition on the Ranch, it came down to a pair of sisters at the top of the heap, a father who was eliminated and earned his way back into the competition, and a young woman who lost her mother in the first week.

SPOILER ALERT!!

While sisters Hannah and Olivia were locks for competing for the $250,000 prize, Jay and Irene had their fates handed to them by America's vote. So they came out at the top of the hour and both looked absolutely fantastic -- though Irene should be careful about doing high kicks in a dress when coming through a paper picture of herself.

'Glee' Season 2 Finale Recap

by Joel Keller, posted May 25th 2011 1:30AM
['Glee' - 'New York']

It's been very difficult for me to write about the second season of 'Glee' without sounding like a humorless grouch. There has been a lot to take in this year, from the event episodes to the Super Bowl spectacular to needing a scorecard to keep track of the different romances to the trifecta of Gwyneth Paltrow episodes to Sue Sylvester flying off the rails.

The 'Glee' cast invade New York in the season 2 finale
I could have made it easy on myself and just judged each episode by the songs, which it seems a lot of the readers would have preferred I do. After all, that's the most fun part of the show, right? But I couldn't do that, and I couldn't do that this week. I'm still too interested in the actual story about the kids in New Directions and their underdog plight to just gloss over the plots of each episode.

It's why tonight's New York-based season finale left me a little cold. Sure, the location shots were great. But, aside from yet another iteration of the Finn-Rachel story, there wasn't much in the way of story here. At least not enough to make sense of whatever's happened this season up until now.

Scotty McCreery Reaches High in His Quest for the 'American Idol' Title (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted May 25th 2011 12:47AM
Scotty McCreery, 'American Idol'It was a packed hour as 'American Idol' (Tue., 8PM ET on FOX) kicked off its finale week, one night early. Assuming everybody remembered to tune in, they were treated to three songs each by the finalists, and even a special performance by a former 'Idol' winner.

The final round of singing featured new songs that would become the respective singles of Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina, should they win the competition. But we have a sneaking suspicion both songs will get released, anyway.

McCreery was given 'Love You This Big,' which was a little kitschy in the title and premise, but allowed him to showcase both the low end and the higher end of his register; a fact that was appreciated by judge Randy Jackson.

The 'American Idol' Season 10 finale airs Wednesday, 8PM ET on FOX.

David Cook Closes 'American Idol' Performance Show With His Farewell Song (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted May 25th 2011 12:12AM
David Cook, 'American Idol'All season long, we've heard David Cook's remake of Simple Minds' 'Don't You (Forget About Me)' as the farewell song for eliminated contestants. Since this marks the final week of 'American Idol' (Tue., 8PM ET on FOX), we won't get the chance to hear it again as the winner will be crowned.

So Season 7 winner David Cook appeared with his band to close out the show by giving us a live performance of the single. On a night of country music, it was almost startling to hear his smooth rock vocals, but we quickly recovered and remembered how great he was on 'Idol.'

Behind Cook, we got a montage of memories from this 10th season of 'American Idol,' and it was bittersweet seeing some of our favorite moments passing by -- please come back next season, Jacee Badeaux!

The 'American Idol' season finale airs tomorrow night at 8PM ET on FOX.

Lauren Alaina Sings For Her Mother, Wins Over the Judges, on 'American Idol' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted May 25th 2011 12:02AM
Lauren Alaina, 'American Idol'It was a night of wall-to-wall music on a special Tuesday installment of 'American Idol' (Tue., 8PM ET on FOX). With but a single hour to pack in three rounds of competition between Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina, there was hardly time to even get judges' comments in, much less create emotional moments.

For the third round, though, Alaina managed to do just that with a perfectly suited song: 'Like My Mother Does.' In-house mentor Jimmy Iovine chose the song, which we're told will become her single if she wins the season. We have a feeling it might just get released even if she comes in second, though.

Ironically, 'Like My Mother Does' was first released first on Season 7 finalist Kristy Lee Cook's album.

The 'American Idol' Season 10 finale airs Wednesday, 8PM ET on FOX.

Oprah's Daytime Domination: 13 Talk Shows That Died During Her 25-Year Reign

by Jean Bentley, posted May 24th 2011 11:00AM
Oprah WinfreyOprah Winfrey has managed to stay on the air for a nearly unrivaled 25 years while keeping her show current and fresh. How? That's a mystery we mere mortals may never understand.

But there were several stars who attempted to duplicate the big O's success over the years, all starting with the naming standard no future host would dare to change: 'The [Insert Name of Host] Show.'

Though many managed to last more than a decade each (persistence paid off for Montel Williams, Ricki Lake, Geraldo Rivera and Jenny Jones), no other talk show host has made it to the quarter century mark.

To show you just how big a feat Oprah has accomplished, here's a list of 13 daytime talk shows that came and went during Oprah's tenure, a feature which could also be called Talk Shows that Oprah Killed.

'Dancing With the Stars' Season 12 Predictions: Who Will Win?

by Katy Kroll, posted May 24th 2011 9:00AM
It's down to the final three contestants on 'Dancing With the Stars,' and after a topsy-turvy season that saw the leaderboard constantly shaken up, it's anyone's mirrorball trophy to lose.

Over the last few weeks, Hines Ward and Chelsea Kane have settled into front-runner status, each leading the board multiple times and nabbing perfect 10s. Meanwhile, Kirstie Alley squeaked past Ralph Macchio last week as the underdog-slash-fan favorite.

While I'm going out on a limb and predicting that Chelsea will win in a last-minute Shawn Johnson-type upset over Hines, I asked critics and fervent 'DWTS' fans to weigh in on the simple question: Who will take home the mirrorball this season?

There was a definite consensus, but don't count out the fact that there may be a dark horse in the running. Read what they had to say ...

'American Idol' Finale: Carrie Underwood and George Strait Picked the Songs, Bono and the Edge to Perform

by Catherine Lawson, posted May 24th 2011 6:40AM
Lauren Alaina and Scotty McCreeryLauren Alaina and Scotty McCreery will take to the stage tonight for the all-country 'American Idol' finale. And it's been announced that a previous 'Idol' winner and a Country Music Hall of Famer will both have a hand in it.

Plus, veteran Irish rockers Bono and the Edge will take time out of their North American tour to perform on the results show Wednesday night with cast members from the Broadway musical, 'Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark.'

According to 'USA Today,' Lauren and Scotty will each perform one song chosen for them by their personal musical hero. Specific details haven't been released yet, but we do know that Season 4 winner Carrie Underwood chose one for Lauren, and that the legendary George Strait picked out Scotty's.

House Loses His Mind When He Sees Cuddy With Another Man on Season Finale (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted May 24th 2011 2:48AM
'House' season finale - 'Moving On'Executive producer Greg Yaitanes said fans would be shocked by the last five minutes of this season finale of 'House' (Mon., 8PM ET on FOX) and he was right. If what we saw was real, it was certainly a stunning development in the lives of House, Cuddy and even Wilson, peripherally.

Now that we know Lisa Edelstein won't be returning to the series next week, we have to also look at this moment as her swan song, and it's certainly easy to understand why Cuddy would want to disappear.

In a moment of drug-addled jealousy, House drove a car through her living room -- while she was hosting a dinner party -- with no regard for the four people in the house, including Cuddy. And then he simply walked away with a little self-satisfied smile on his face.
