Grey's Anatomy: Beat Your Heart Out
(S05E14) "Use it wisely." - Owen to Mark about.... well... you know!Fun fact: The day following the airing of "Stairway to Heaven," the top Google searches where for expressions like "penile fracture" and "broken penis." Thankfully, after getting treatment and not using his tool for a few days, Mark is back in shape! I must admit seeing Owen and Mark quickly enter and exit the exam room to check on it was probably the most hilarious scene of the week. Yes, in my book it was funnier than those scenes with the man who had something (why couldn't they tell us what in the end?!?) lodged in his behind. It wouldn't surprise me if people research that latter case on Google today to find answers as to what was lodged where it didn't belong!
Grey's Anatomy: Stairway to Heaven

(S05E13) "We're doctors, Grey. We're not executioners." - Bailey
Life wasn't easy for some of the Seattle Grace staff this week on Grey's Anatomy as they had to decide if they were doctors or executioners. For some, the choice was clear (Shepard is a doctor) while for others (Meredith and Bailey) they wondered if they should be executioners at least this one time. No matter what side they were on, one thing is sure: the Seattle Grace doctors offered us one hell (or heaven?) of an episode this week!
Grey's Anatomy: Sympathy for the Devil

(S05E12) "You're wearing an alarmingly high pony tail." - Derek
At the most simplified level, Dunn is right, you know - a doctor isn't really that different than a serial killer. They both get to choose who dies. A doctor is likely driven by science while a serial killer gets his marching orders from a little voice in his head, but they're both making choices; doing what they think is the right move. Eric Stoltz has thus far been a shining point this season. William Dunn is one of the better characters we've seen on Grey's Anatomy in a while and I'm glad he'll be around for at least one more week.
Grey's Anatomy: Wish You Were Here

(S05E11) "Sexed-up stalkers." - Sloan
I thought Grey's Anatomy had gone far enough with the Izzie/Denny mess - until this episode. Why you ask? Because they introduced a doctor who gets around on Heelys!! Do you have any idea how much I hate Heelys? Nine-year-olds come whipping by on those damn things when you're walking around the mall, and as much as you hate to wish bad things upon a 9-year-old, I'm just waiting for the headline "Local Sixth Grader Wearing Heelys Cracks Skull Open in Front of Orange Julius." Oh and that doctor (Dr. Arizona Robbins) that got introduced tonight? She's a pediatric surgeon. Great message to send to the youth of America.

All Debbie wants for Festivus
Really, it's almost too much to ask for anything more, when this year has brought so much good TV. You may think I jest here, but if you saw the Dexter season three finale, if you curled up with House a time or two, or have caught even just one episode of The Mentalist, you know what I'm talking about. When the rest of the shows-a-stinkin' take up the airwaves, there's always TV on DVD. So, really, is it asking too much to want more from TV for Festivus this year? Speaking as a completely selfish TV watcher, I think not. So with wild abandon, here are my Festivus wishes:
On the 9th day of Festivus, TV gave to me... - VIDEOS
...Nine foreign AmericansWith all of the starry-eyed, out-of-work Midwesterners who litter Sunset Blvd., one would assume that our television landscape would be similarly populated with corn-fed blonds. You would, however, be wrong. In fact, there are a ton of non-Americans who have come to Hollywood to take all of our primetime show-starring jobs.
What's fun for me is watching the shows to see who does a good version of an American accent, and who needs to spend a little more time with their dialect coaches. Below are nine stars who've jumped the pond to come to the good ol' U. S. of A.
TV Squad Ten: Why Izzie + Denny = Ridiculous
Welcome to TV Squad Ten, a new semi-weekly feature where we list ten fun things about the current state of TV.
The Izzie/Denny romance has gone from being one of the most fan-adored plots on Grey's Anatomy to one of the most fan-despised over the span of just three seasons. When Denny first popped up as a heart-transplant candidate in season two, it was cute and adorable. Despite the fact that he was dying, the guy was funny and charming - how could you not like him?
Even though it was hard to swallow Izzie's over-the-top attempt to save Denny's life (LVAD wire anyone?), we still bit our tongues and from what I recall, just about everyone went through a whole box of Kleenex when he finally kicked it.
But then he kept coming back. It was infrequent at first and now it's reached the point that Denny is around more now than when he was alive. It's ridiculous and wrong and here are ten reasons why...
T.R. Knight wants to leave Grey's. Should we care?
If you are like me and use a RSS reader to keep tabs of the TV news of the day, you were probably overwhelmed by the number of articles claiming that T.R. Knight asked to leave ABC's Grey's Anatomy. In order to make my RSS reader a tad more crowded with this news, I decided to join in on the fun and blog about it!The reason for Knight's request? He is unhappy with his storylines. Now where have we heard this reason before?
You have to admit that the actor has a point since he hasn't been doing much on the series so far this season and from the look of spoilers, it seems that no huge storylines are coming his way. Actually, he has been so underused since the season premiere that writing him off would not hurt the series at all. And you know what? I don't care if he stays or if he goes.
Wait a second, Katherine Heigl makes HOW much money?
There are three things I know about Katherine Heigl. 1. She stars in ABC's Grey's Anatomy.
2. She's not afraid to speak up if she thinks the show's writers have screwed up.
3. She'll never let you hear the end of it if you pronounce her name wrong, and she'll hunt you down like a dog.
Now there's a fourth thing I know about Heigl: she's the fifth highest paid actress in Hollywood.
Grey's Anatomy: All By Myself

(S05E10) Before I even start this review, I've got to vent about the absurd amount of commercials during this episode of Grey's Anatomy. Is it always this bad and I just haven't noticed? Are there always ads every two minutes or so? I found it extremely distracting to be constantly interrupted, especially when there were so many storylines going on tonight.
And we did have a lot to keep track of: Dr. Dixon's appearance, the Izzie / Denny / Alex love triangle, who would be awarded the first solo surgery, Callie's and Sadie's flirting, the medical cases of the week, Yang and Hunt, Sloan and Little Grey, Bailey and Sloan ... I can barely keep track of them all.
Let's break down this episode after the break and try to make some sense of "All By Myself."
Which TV star is about to get axed and doesn't know it yet?
Besides being renowned for his spoilers, Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello is also know for his blind items. The gossip columnist has been toying with readers with his "you'll never guess who" type of gossip posts since his TV Guide days. This week, Ausiello announced to the world that one major TV star was about to get booted from his or her show and didn't know about it yet. Since this is one of Ausiello's blind items, he doesn't reveal just who may exit a popular TV series. However, he does leave clues for us to try and find out who he's talking about. Why not join me in trying to find out which TV star is about to get axed and doesn't know it yet? The picture on the right gives you an idea of who I hope will get axed. However, she is not who I think Ausiello is really referring to...
In the Limelight: Tyne Daly as McDreamy's Mom - VIDEO
I've been a fan of Tyne Daly going back to her Cagney & Lacey days. I loved that show! It kind of made me want to be a cop - for about three minutes anyway. So I was ultra excited when I heard she would be playing McDreamy's mom on Grey's Anatomy. Isabelle posted a spoiler about it last week. Apparently, Tyne will be playing Derek's mom, Carolyn, who travels to Seattle to meet Meredith for the first time. You know, I can really see her as Derek's mom. That's good casting.
I've got a little clip below from Access Hollywood, but first, let me sing Tyne's praises for a minute. Here's a woman who never really fit into the Hollywood "mold" (i.e. blonde and/or thin and/or a party animal), and that's probably why she's been working steadily in the entertainment industry for some 50 years. Yes, on her IMDB page, her first credit was "girl" in a TV show called Foreign Intrigue in 1954. She went on to do bit parts in dozens of TV shows until landing the role of Detective Mary Beth Lacey in Cagney & Lacey from 1982 to 1988.
ABC to focus group: you cool with Izzie and Denny falling in love?
Apparently ABC is weirded out by Izzie having sex with a ghost too. At the very least, they certainly are curious.
According to EW, the alphabet network has started testing audiences with a potential Grey's Anatomy love story between Izzie and the very, very, very not alive Denny Duquette.
Now I know focus groups aren't cheap and since it's Thanksgiving Day, I'm in a very giving mood. So if anyone from ABC is reading this - let me save you some money:
This story BLOWS.
