The past season was a tumultuous one for NBC, what with the Jay Leno experience turning the primetime schedule into a whirl. The fact that Leno's ten o'clock show was a disaster resulted in NBC scrambling to fill in during the second season. Fortunately, at least one legit hit has emerged -- 'Parenthood.'

Still, as the network contemplates the future, there's really six programs that could be called on the bubble, teetering between a pick up or a cancellation. So what is the likelihood that NBC will renew these shows? Here's our take:

OK, maybe "realized" isn't the best word to use. More like "remembered." NBC chairman Jeff Gaspin tells The New York Times that the network is changing its strategy and will pay to get some good shows on the network.

For starters, they've ordered almost 20 new pilots this season -- scripted dramas and comedies -- up from ten last season. Instead of strictly going by the numbers and looking for a big profit margin and trying to cut costs in every way possible, they're looking for good shows they can stick with.

For ABC, this is a particularly important Sweeps period. Not only are a number of renewed freshman and sophomore series ending in the next few weeks, but the network's flagship program -- 'Lost' -- is completing its long and complicated run. Needless to say, they've packed the schedule with guest-stars, trips to exotic locales, and a return of 'The Bachleorette.'

As mentioned, the series finale of 'Lost' is big doings. On Sunday, May 23rd, the network will air a two-hour 'Lost Recap Special' starting at 7:00 p.m. followed by the last episode at 9:00 p.m.. To the cap the night off, Jimmy Kimmel will interview the creators and cast of 'Lost' on a special Sunday edition of 'Jimmy Kimmel Live.'

More highlights can be found after the jump. Be warned: minor spoilers ahead.

However, a prequel mini-series is in the planning stages about the rise of 'The Tonight Show' and Johnny Carson called 'The King of Late Night.'

The mini-series will actually be about the rise of the first three hosts of 'The Tonight Show': Steve Allen, Jack Paar and of course Johnny. It will focus on NBC's history of screwing them over (except for Carson, who managed to beat them at their own game). If done with tremendous historical detail to the level of 'Mad Men,' it could be very good.

That's likely the direction they're going in since the project has been described as "The Rat Pack version of 'The Late Shift.'" A&E would actually be a good channel to host this concept, but more likely it will go to one of the premium channels like HBO.

So who should play Johnny? Please don't say Rich Little. It's been done.

New series like 'Undercover Boss' and 'NCIS: LA' lived up to expectations and emerged as hits, and even though it's fallen off a bit lately, 'The Good Wife' is also a success.

But as the May upfront approaches, when the network has to make difficult decisions about what new shows to order and which programs to axe, it's a good time to assess what might happen. Here's our look at what's Tiffany network shows are on the brink ... and how it might play out.

According to the Live Feed, OWN (aka the Oprah Winfrey Network) will launch 'Inside Rehab,' an eight-episode series documenting patients inside an eating disorder treatment facility. No word yet on a premiere date.

'Inside Rehab' is just one of many shows set to join OWN, which officially launches on Jan. 1. Among the highlights: 'Behind the Scenes: The Oprah Show Final Season,' 'Breaking Down the Bars,' 'Enough Already,' 'In the Bedroom With Dr. Laura Berman' and 'Inside With Lisa Ling.'

As Inside TV previously reported, BFF Gayle King will also bring her radio show, 'Gayle King Live!', to the small screen, while Grammy-winning superstar (and recent 'American Idol' mentor) Shania Twain will star in the reality series 'Why Not? With Shania Twain.'
Oh, they may entertain us with smoke monsters, islands that are not islands and time jumps that would trick even H.G. Wells, but they have left so many questions unanswered during the last five seasons that fans are still trying to figure out what the heck is going on. The only thing that's keeping them going is the feeling that all will be answered in the series finale.

Well, guess what? That's not happening, either.

So says co-creator Damon Lindelof. In an interview with the Live Feed, Lindelof states that they'll be as definitive as they can be with their ending; however, people are still going to say, "What did they mean by that?" All that hubbub had us speculating about the future of 'One Life to Live' in an era when longtime soaps like 'Guiding Light' have been canceled and another legendary daytimer, 'As the World Turns' is ending it's run in September.

Well, fans are concerned, too, especially after the story emerged last week about ABC Daytime developing a talk show for Tori Spelling. TV Guide went to the Jori Petersen, the head ABC Daytime PR, to ask if the Spelling show might threaten the future of 'One Life.'

May is generally the month when the broadcast networks put their latest season to rest. While there are plenty of finales, as we've covered in its own post, that doesn't mean there aren't premieres and specials.

This month, 'Jesse Stone' is back, 'Friday Night Lights' returns to NBC, BBC America brings back new seasons of 'Ashes to Ashes' and 'Gavin & Stacey,' while the long-awaited return of 'The Boondocks' comes to Cartoon Network's Adult Swim. FOX is bringing back 'Past Life,' launching a new season of ''So You Think You Can Dance,' and premiering their quirky new police dramedy, 'The Good Guys.'

Why get depressed about what you'll be missing, when there's plenty to get excited about, Don't miss a thing with our May guide.
Joining the former governor is the hidden-camera series 'Exposed' from Ashton Kutcher, which is being described as a "social experiment."

Meanwhile, TruTV has lined up another hidden-camera series: 'Rogue Soiety,' which will "expose bigots and scam artists though various pranks." (They should have gotten Kutcher involved on that one as well, as he knows a thing or two about prank shows.)

Also on tap: 'Ma's Roadhouse,' which will take viewers inside a Texas saloon, 'Limo Bob,' about owner of a fleet of limos in Chicago, and 'The Naked Office,' which follows a business that raises office worker spirits through an unorthodox method of group therapy.

And, of course, you can't get into reality TV without a restaurant series ('America's Toughest Boss') and one exploring supernatural phenomenon ('Disclosure').

No word yet on when these series will hit the airwaves.
Someone at HBO got impatient and posted one of the minisodes online (or, more likely, recognized the marketing potential of letting people watch it in advance).

In the clip, Eric and Pam are auditioning new dancers for Fangtasia and there are more than a few comic relief moments. There is even a male dancer that is reminiscent of an old 'Saturday Night Live' Chippendale's sketch with Chris Farley. It's a self-contained story so the viewer doesn't have to worry if he or she has never watched 'True Blood' before.

The video is available after the jump. It is a bit racy, so be careful if you're watching it from a work or school or otherwise NSFW location. Let us know what you think of it in the comments.
