'Supernatural' Producer Ben Edlund On Cliffhangers, Castiel & His Return to Directing

by Laura Prudom, posted May 6th 2011 9:00AM
Ben EdlundFew men epitomize the moniker of "evil genius" quite like Ben Edlund, the multi-talented executive producer, writer and director of the CW's 'Supernatural.'

After conceiving the quirky, cult-favorite character of 'The Tick' while still in high school, Edlund graduated to TV greatness working alongside Joss Whedon as a writer-producer on 'Firefly' and the later seasons of 'Angel,' before joining the 'Supernatural' team in 2006.

Edlund is responsible for many of the most comedic episodes of the spooky CW drama, but he's also credited with a number of the show's most mytharc-heavy, emotionally satisfying entries, and this week's episode looks to be no exception.

'The Man Who Would Be King' (Fri., May 6, 9PM ET on The CW) marks Edlund's first foray into directing since 2004, and AOL TV caught up with him earlier this week to discuss the challenges of directing his own script, as well as what fans can expect from the last three episodes of the season. Tread lightly, there are spoilers ahead.

'Nikita' Star Melinda Clarke Teases Amanda's Past, Alex's Present and the Show's Future

by Laura Prudom, posted May 5th 2011 1:00PM
Melinda ClarkeNo one in Hollywood schemes half as well as Melinda Clarke -- and we mean that as a compliment. From her scene-stealing role as Julie Cooper on 'The O.C.' to her current guise as manipulative Division agent Amanda on The CW's 'Nikita,' Clarke has made a career out of playing powerful, seductive and downright devious women. Her enigmatic performance in the action-packed spy drama has rapidly become a standout in an already impressive ensemble.

AOL TV caught up with Clarke yesterday to discuss what's next for Amanda now that she's got rogue agent Alex (Lyndsy Fonseca) in her grasp. With only two episodes left in season 1 (episode 21 airs tonight at 9PM ET), the stakes are high, and Clarke shared plenty of juicy tidbits to whet our appetites for what's to come in the next couple of weeks. Caution: Spoilers ahead.

'The Vampire Diaries' Exec Producer Julie Plec Teases Next Week & the Finale

by Maggie Furlong, posted Apr 29th 2011 12:01AM
Hey 'Vampire Diaries' fans -- you still breathing?

What an episode! I posted a little preview earlier today, but there's nothing you can say to prepare for something like that. Now that it's happened and you've seen it too, I've got a little bit more from the press Q&A with executive producer Julie Plec to help clarify things a bit.

Obviously, SPOILERS AHEAD, so if you haven't yet watched 'The Last Day,' keep reading at your own risk. While I won't spoil anything coming up, there's plenty of dirt about what happened tonight, including Damon's need for forgiveness, Elena's very un-'Twilight'-like speech and how Aunt Jenna got thrown into the middle of everything. So yeah, spoilers.

Plec also gives some good scoop on next week's "big, powerful, enormous, emotional" episode and the season finale. Keep reading for more ...

'Supernatural' Preview: 6 Reasons Why You Can't Miss This Week's Rip-Roarin' Western Episode

by Laura Prudom, posted Apr 20th 2011 8:15AM
Jensen Ackles and Jared PadaleckiYou'd be hard-pressed to find a more fearless series currently on air than the CW's 'Supernatural'. Over the past six seasons, the dashing Winchester brothers have faced everything from Santa Claus to a spoof of Dr. McDreamy, but this Friday, they're facing a genre that few shows (or movies) dare to touch these days: The Western.

'Supernatural' already smashed the fourth wall with great aplomb earlier this season, but pulling off a believable Western on a TV budget would be a feat for any show without a premium cable network footing the bill. So it gives us great pleasure to report that, not only is 'Frontierland' gorgeous to look at, it's also one of the series' strongest episodes to date, providing humor and action while keeping up the momentum of the mythology as we approach the season finale.

TV Squad was lucky enough to see an advanced screener of this Friday's wild Western episode, and we've managed to whittle down an hour of memorable moments into a list of six reasons why this episode is not to be missed. Proceed with caution, pilgrims: there are mild spoilers ahead.

Glee, Born This WayJust when it seemed the 'Glee' camp had finally realized the art of keeping important plotlines a secret, an extra managed to spoil the outcome of the much-anticipated 'Born This Way' prom episode.

Warning: Spoilers ahead! Do not read any further if you're trying to avoid leaks about the episode.

As chronicled on ONTD, a rogue extra answered fan questions about the episode on Twitter the other day and spoiled the outcome of the heated prom race -- majorly pissing off 'Glee' co-creator Brad Falchuk in the process.

'Smallville' Star Cassidy Freeman Talks Granny Goodness, Michael Rosenbaum and Tess's Journey

by Laura Prudom, posted Apr 15th 2011 12:00PM
Cassidy FreemanAs the unpredictable Tess Mercer (aka Lutessa Lena Luthor), Cassidy Freeman has spent the past three seasons of 'Smallville' vacillating between villain and trusted Super-sidekick, acting as both CEO of LuthorCorp and the interim brains behind Watchtower in Chloe's absence.

Though her generally straight-laced character has a tendency to keep secrets, the effervescent Chicago native has none of Tess's cool reserve, and she was happy to drop a few hints about what's coming up for Ms. Mercer after 'Smallville' returns from hiatus tonight at 8PM ET on The CW.

Join us after the jump for Freeman's thoughts on meeting Tess's absentee half-brother, Lex Luthor (Michael Rosenbaum) for the first time, her most memorable moments from filming the show, and the conclusion of Tess's story as 'Smallville' comes to an end. Spoilers ahead.

Courteney Cox Weighs In on the 'Cougar Town' Finale and Why You Should Buy a Penny Can

by Laura Prudom, posted Apr 13th 2011 12:00PM

Courteney CoxI've spent many a Wednesday night fantasizing about becoming an honorary member of a certain dysfunctional, boozy and all-around awesome cul-de-sac crew.

So when I sat down with Courteney Cox at the 'Scream 4' junket on behalf of our sister site, Moviefone (check out that chat here), I couldn't resist slipping in a few 'Cougar Town' questions to quench fans' thirst before the show returns from its distressingly long hiatus next week.

Join us after the jump to see what Cox had to say about Bobby and Laurie's latest business venture, and what fans can expect from the hour-long season finale on May 25.
