EXCLUSIVE 'Virgin Diaries' Sneak Peek: Meet 35-Year-Old Virgin Carey (VIDEO)

by Maggie Furlong, posted Dec 1st 2011 3:30PM
Did you catch that promo for TLC's 'Virgin Diaries'? The one with the virgin couple awkwardly sucking face at the altar and on the dance floor on their wedding day? Well there's more where that came from.

In their new one-hour special 'Virgin Diaries' (premieres Sun., Dec. 4, 9PM ET), TLC promises to shed light on a wide range of sexually inexperienced adults who are all still virgins for a multitude of reasons, from religion to factors beyond their control.

The show has received a lot of press -- and a lot of controversy, too. Many people believe that this special aims to mock a lifestyle that millions of people have chosen, but TLC maintains that it's celebrating virgins. "Losing one's virginity is a big life decision," TLC's west coast vice president of production, Timothy Kuryak, told ABCNews.com. "It seemed like one of those seminal life moments that's interesting to follow for TLC." He then added: "We're not trying to make light of this or treat it in a sort of trivial way. We want to document these peoples' stories and why they make this decision."

We've got an exclusive sneak peek at Carey, a 35-year-old bachelor who freely admits that he's "not a virgin entirely by choice," as he consults his friends about how to score on his upcoming date. Their advice: First impressions matter.

EXCLUSIVE 'What Not to Wear' Preview: Meet Tron's Hooker (VIDEO)

by Maggie Furlong, posted Nov 29th 2011 1:00PM
As much as 'What Not to Wear' makes me cringe sometimes, hosts and makeover gurus Stacy London and Clinton Kelly are always there to lighten the mood with pure, unadulterated snark. Like saying someone's outfit is better suited for a hooker from 'Tron.'

They're not trying to hurt anyone's feelings, of course, but sometimes the ugly truth is the only way to get through to people. This is one of those times.

They've got some brand new episodes (premiering Tues., Nov. 29, 9PM ET on TLC) and their first client back is a tough nut to crack. And by nut, I'm implying that she's a little crazy ... but delightfully so. Maybe it's a work side effect?

We've got an exclusive introduction to Jodi, a 50-year-old belly-dancing psych ward nurse. Yep, you read that right, and her wardrobe is just as confused. Here, Clinton and Stacy try to show her the light about why this reflective, futuristic ensemble -- which she describes as her "edgy, hip-hop, downtown nightclub look" -- should be a thing of the past.

EXCLUSIVE 'Tori & Dean' Sneak Peek: Can Tori Juggle Motherhood, Work & Another Baby On the Way?

by Maggie Furlong, posted Nov 28th 2011 5:30PM
Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood'Tori & Dean' are back for a sixth season (premieres Tues., Nov. 29, 10PM ET on Oxygen), and their sweet Hollywood home is busy as ever, with a new business and baby #3 on the way.

The previews show Tori doing her best to hide her baby bump from the press -- including an awesome scene of her writhing around on the closet floor, trying to get her Spanx on -- while Dean is trying his hand in the culinary arts. (I can't wait for the inevitable episode where Tori compares sharp knives and mandolines to racing motorcycles, Dean's last swiftly-nixed hobby.)

In our exclusive clip from this season, little Liam is acting out and playing rough with mama Tori in the middle of a photo shoot (fun takeaway: even Tori's cropped 'do is all extensions!), forcing Tori to finally admit that her good cop role to daddy Dean's bad cop can't last forever.

Watch and tell us: Do you think Tori is a better mom than her mom was?

'A Very Gaga Thanksgiving': 5 Things We Want to See

by Maggie Furlong, posted Nov 23rd 2011 11:00AM
A Very Gaga ThanksgivingIt's Thanksgiving! The leaves are changing in certain parts of the country that still have seasons, the smell of butane from turkey fryers is filling the air and ABC is celebrating with ... Lady Gaga?

Because nothing says making the holidays "hip" like Gaga!

'A Very Gaga Thanksgiving' (Thurs., Nov. 24, 9:30PM ET on ABC) is a 90-minute TV special conceived and directed by Gaga herself that finds the queen of shock performing eight songs for a small audience that includes her friends and family. The songs range from her biggest hits to holiday classic 'White Christmas,' and she's even doing a duet of 'The Lady Is a Tramp' with Tony Bennett.

Yep, this is really a thing. ABC is calling it "Gaga-fied," I'm calling it awesomely random.

'Happy Endings' - 'Full Court Dress'Alex (Elisha Cuthbert) is taking her love of fashion to the next level on this week's 'Happy Endings,' designing a dress for sister Jane (Eliza Coupe) to wear to a charity event.

In 'Full Court Dress' (Wed., Nov. 23, 9:30PM ET on ABC), the quirky Chicago shop owner reveals that she's been figuring out how to sew with an online sewing class, and the Web site may or may not be a total rip-off of 'Project Runway,'* complete with the second step-cousin of guru Tim Gunn,** Nick Gun, as the instructor.

(*For legal purposes, we should probably say that it isn't a rip-off. Even though it is.)
(**There's really no relation whatsoever.)

We've got the exclusive sneak peek at the blinking, flashing, fluorescent mess of a Web site for Situation Walkspace. Let's take a look, shall we? And fair warning: Get ready to be suffocated by the cutting edge of fashion.

In our exclusive sneak peek of this week's 'Sister Wives' (Sun., Nov. 20, 9PM ET on TLC), we see polygamist patriarch Kody Brown struggling to keep it together while getting his kids to do their homework, to clean up and to stop sniffing yummy smelling markers.

'Community' Sneak Peek: Greendale's Most Famous Alum, Luis Guzman, Stops By

by Maggie Furlong, posted Nov 17th 2011 5:05PM
Luis Guzman on 'Community'If you're a hardcore 'Community' fan, then you've probably already goatee'd yourself on social media sites in support of the show. You also probably know that Greendale's most famous alum is stopping by tonight (Thurs., Nov. 17, 8PM ET on NBC).

In 'Documentary Filmmaking: Redux,' Dean Pelton directs the gang in a new commercial for Greendale, which also features fan-favorite students like Magnitude (Pop pop!), Fat Neil, Starburns and Leonard. Also stopping by: the most famous former Human Being of all, actor Luis Guzman, who, as we know, also happens to be immortalized with a statue on campus.

And just like last season's documentary episode, Abed takes over a bit, filming the filming of the commercial for his own archives.

I caught up with the 'Community' cast on set to talk about the Real Luis Guzman vs. Statue Luis Guzman -- here's what stars Joel McHale, Danny Pudi, Alison Brie, Donald Glover and Gillian Jacobs had to say about "The Guz."

EXCLUSIVE Sneak Peek of 'Bomb Patrol: Afghanistan' (VIDEO)

by Maggie Furlong, posted Nov 17th 2011 12:30PM
Bomb PatrolG4's 10-part documentary series 'Bomb Patrol: Afghanistan' (Tuesdays, 10PM ET on G4) follows the United States Navy's Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) platoon, stationed in Afghanistan and tasked with searching for and disarming explosives like Improvised Explosive Devices, commonly known as IEDs.

The show has been following the eight-person platoon for a few weeks now, but in our exclusive clip from next week's new episode, we see that the stakes just keep getting higher.

Chief John Groat gives Brendan Schmutte the opportunity to lead the team for the first time. They're called to investigate a recent explosion that killed an Afghan bomb tech while he was trying to dissemble an IED. The team is investigating and plotting out their options, believing there are more explosives nearby, when suddenly an Army patrol drives through the blast site. The Keatons Return! 'Family Ties' Alums Meredith Baxter & Michael Gross Reunite For Some '80s TV Trivia

by Maggie Furlong, posted Nov 17th 2011 10:00AM
Michael Gross & Meredith BaxterIs a 'Family Ties' reunion finally happening? Not quite, but Steven and Elyse Keaton -- a.k.a. Michael Gross and Meredith Baxter -- are together again, and this time they're getting animated.

The famous TV couple reunites for 'Dan Vs.' (season 2 premieres Sat., Nov. 19, 8PM ET on The Hub) -- it's a very special Thanksgiving-themed episode, which is perfect since we're infinitely thankful to have them both back on TV. What would we do, baby, without them? Stop me before I sha-la-la-la.

Dan always assumes everyone is against him (hence the show's title), but as his best friend's wife Elise's parents, Gross and Baxter's characters might actually be on his side. Or not. ''They're quirky parents, and they're conspiratorial," Gross said. "They're not nearly as nice as Elyse and Steven Keaton were, which is a lot of fun for us. We hate our son-in-law and his friends -- what could be more fun?" Baxter chimed in with a laugh: "We don't treat our daughter too well, either!"

Yep, these two portraits of all-American sitcom hunky-doryness are relishing in playing against type, but that doesn't mean they shun their most iconic roles. I put them to the test with some 'Family Ties' trivia, which brought out the laughs, the talk of an actual reunion and the clever middle names for Alex P. Keaton.

The Jaafars & The Amens, 'All-American Muslim'What's the image you have in your head when you hear the term "All-American"? Does it look anything like the Jaafars or the Amens?

If not, TLC's new series 'All-American Muslim' might change your point of view. The show (premieres Sun., Nov. 13, 10PM ET) looks at the lives of five Muslim American families from the Dearborn, Michigan area, home to one of the most active Muslim communities in the country and the largest mosque in North America.

I sat down with members of two of those families -- parents of four Mike and Angie Jaafar, and Suehaila and Shadia Amen, sisters who are only a year apart in age but could not be more different, Suehaila, 32, is single and still lives at home, while her pierced and tattooed sister, Shadia, who has a son, Adam, from a previous marriage, is planning her second wedding -- to an Irish-Catholic guy who's converting to Islam.
