How Evil Are You? Horror Guru Eli Roth Investigates

by Maggie Furlong, posted Oct 28th 2011 12:00PM
Eli Roth, host of 'How Evil Are You?'Are you evil? And if so, how evil? Discovery Channel's Curiosity series tapped horror movie writer-director and actor Eli Roth -- yes, the man behind the decidedly evil 'Hostel' franchise -- to find out in their new special, titled 'How Evil Are You?' (premieres Sun., Oct. 30, 9PM ET on Discovery).

Recreating Yale professor Stanley Milgram's groundbreaking and disturbing psychological experiment from the 1960s -- which showed regular people inflicting pain on others because they were "just following orders" -- Roth came away with some fascinating insight into human nature, and a very matter-of-fact conclusion. "We haven't changed in 50 years, and I don't think we will," he said.

Here, Roth talks more about the nature of evil and why even Hitler shouldn't be completely faulted for his evil acts during the Holocaust. And speaking of Hitler, as the guy that killed Hitler (on-screen in 'Inglourious Basterds,' that is) does Roth think he has what some have dubbed "the evil gene"? He goes through a few tests himself in the special, all in the name of science and his own curiosity.

Keep reading for more on this fascinating study, and to find out which recent horror movie sequel "terrified" the master, leaving Roth and pal Marilyn Manson "squealing like teenage girls." (You're welcome.)

Ariel Tweto Talks 'Flying Wild Alaska,' Calls BS On Seeing Russia From Anyone's House

by Maggie Furlong, posted Oct 28th 2011 10:00AM
Ariel Tweto, 'Flying Wild Alaska'Ariel Tweto is so cute she's almost cartoon-like. With a petite frame and an infectious giggle, the 'Flying Wild Alaska' star was a bundle of energy when we hung out to talk about Season 2 (premieres Fri., Oct. 28, 10PM ET on Discovery). Actually, energetic doesn't even begin to describe her, as our journey through a wide range of talking points proves.

Born Ariel Eva Tuadraq-Atauchaq Tweto, the Eskimo firecracker from Unalakleet, Alaska, struggled to get her pilot's license all through Season 1 in the hopes of taking flight for her family business, Era Alaska, an airline that services the barren land and extreme conditions of the Alaskan wilderness.

"I'm still working on it!," she promised, before launching into one of her many endearing stories -- which are fascinating but, admittedly, not altogether relatable for anyone in the lower 48 states. Like how to properly cook swan. Yes, swan, which according to Tweto tastes like "a cross between a turkey and a duck," in case you're curious.

FX Acquires Charlie Sheen's 'Anger Management'

by Maggie Furlong, posted Oct 27th 2011 6:55PM
Charlie Sheen FX Anger ManagementIs Charlie Sheen's winning streak back on? The former 'Two and a Half Men' star just got a new job.

Sheen will return to TV next summer in 'Anger Management' -- a small-screen adaptation of the Adam Sandler/Jack Nicholson comedy from 2003 -- FX Networks president John Landgraf announced today.

FX has ordered 10 episodes of sitcom 'Anger Management,' with production set to begin in early 2012. Writer-producer Bruce Helford will act as executive producer and showrunner.

But we're not just talking about one season -- if the show is a hit, FX will pick up an additional 90 episodes under a unique syndication model crafted by Lionsgate-owned distributor Debmar-Mercury for multiple Tyler Perry sitcoms and Revolution's and Ice Cube's 'Are We There Yet?' The series will air exclusively on FX until the off-network episodes start airing in broadcast syndication in fall 2014.

"We think that Bruce Helford, Joe Roth and Charlie Sheen have come up with a wonderful, hilarious vehicle for Charlie's acting talents -- and a character we are very much looking forward to seeing him play," said Landgraf, President and General Manager, FX Networks. "'Two and a Half Men' has been an outstanding component of FX's schedule for the past 14 months, and we have every confidence that 'Anger Management' will soon be as well."

Molly Sims Talks Hosting 'Project Accessory': 'I'm Southern Tough'

by Maggie Furlong, posted Oct 27th 2011 11:00AM
Are Molly Sims and Heidi KlumMolly Sims, 'Project Accessory' competing for total world model domination? Hear me out: They were born just days apart, both got their start modeling, both own their own jewelry lines and now Sims is hosting the spin-off to Klum's baby, 'Project Runway,' titled 'Project Accessory' (premieres Thurs., Oct. 27, 10:30PM ET on Lifetime).

"No!" Sims said with a laugh, although she didn't deny their eerily similar careers. The biggest difference? Sims hasn't hosted a show since her days on MTV's 'House of Style' back in 2000.

"Listen, this was the first time I was actually nervous in a really long time," Sims admitted. "I'll never give up acting -- I just did an episode of 'Royal Pains' -- but after being on a drama ['Las Vegas'] for five years, I needed a break. Mama needed to find a husband!"

Sims, who's still buzzing from her September wedding -- "I'm so happy ... he's been a good husband for four weeks and a day!" -- is also crazy busy doing press for the show and her new lifestyle Web site, MollySims.com, also launching today.

'Boss' Behind-the-Scenes Preview & Interviews, Plus a Big Giveaway

by Maggie Furlong, posted Oct 25th 2011 4:35PM
Jeff Hephner as Ben Zajac, 'Boss'What did you think of Kelsey Grammer's new drama 'Boss' (Fridays, 10PM ET on Starz)? The pilot episode laid out Mayor Tom Kane's major dilemma for the series, but it also introduced several other intriguing players in the political landscape of Chicago.

In this behind-the-scenes video, creator Farhad Safinia and stars Kathleen Robertson (Kitty O'Neil) and Jeff Hephner (Ben Zajac) give insight into the Zajac's character and motivation as he becomes the Kane-endorsed candidate for governor.

"I think Zajac is a bright guy, and I think he has the same DNA, in a way, that makes up a guy like Kane," Hephner says. "It's important for him to try to reconcile how deep he gets into bed with Kane," Safinia teases, "because he knows what happens to people who do. Yet, the temptation of the fast-track to winning high office is very alluring."

And then there are Zajac's dalliances, another thing he shares in common with Kane. Robertson teases more about their torrid relationship, pointing out that "she knows better ... but she can't help herself."

Judy Greer Talks Ashton's New 'Two and a Half Men' Rival, Another Bluth for the 'Arrested Development' Movie & More

by Maggie Furlong, posted Oct 24th 2011 1:15PM
Judy GreerJudy Greer is one of those actresses that pops up in a million places at once, and always manages to elevate whatever she's doing with her quirky sensibilities and impeccable timing.

Her 'Two and a Half Men' character Bridget (the second character she's played on the show -- she's that good) is the one who left Ashton Kutcher's Walden Schmidt brokenhearted and forced to shack up with Alan and Jake Harper. This week (Mon., Oct. 24, 9PM ET on CBS), we'll meet Bridget's rebound man, played by 'True Blood' star Joe Manganiello.

Since Kutcher got naked for ratings in his big premiere, could the eternally shirtless Manganiello (we're not complaining) be stripping down for his big introduction, too? "He could, at the drop of a hat, take off his shirt and give Ashton a run for his money," Greer joked.

Greer also talked about the "fresher" new 'Men,' her upcoming film 'The Descendants' with George Clooney, where she thinks her 'Arrested Development' mess of a character Kitty Sanchez might be today and if she'll pop up in the much-anticipated 'AD' movie.

by Maggie Furlong, posted Oct 23rd 2011 9:15PM
Aisha Tyler'The Talk' has had its fair share of changes and casting shake-ups in the year it's been on CBS -- first Marissa Jaret Winokur left, then Sharon Osbourne announced she needed some time off this fall and, most recently, Leah Remini and Holly Robinson Peete were given the boot.

Now Deadline is reporting that actress-comedian Aisha Tyler has been tapped to co-host 'The Talk.' Tyler will join Sara Gilbert, Julie Chen, Sharon Osbourne and another new co-host Sheryl Underwood at the 'Talk' table starting tomorrow.

Tyler guest hosted on 'The Talk' for a week at the end of September alongside fellow newbie Underwood. Other celebrities stopped by to fill the chairs, including Kris Jenner and Molly Shannon, but obviously producers liked the chemistry with Tyler and Underwood enough to offer them full-time seats on the show.
