Are You Going To Watch 'V' When it Returns Tomorrow?
by Bob Sassone, posted Mar 29th 2010 2:10PM
I have a feeling that there's only room for one so-so rated sci-fi-ish type show on ABC's schedule, either 'FlashForward' or 'V.' I'm more into 'FlashForward' (though many people aren't, if you look at the ratings). It has gotten a lot better and I'm just more interested in the mystery on that show than I am a show about aliens invading Earth and characters being stupid about it.'V' left the airwaves for a while (just like 'FlashForward') and it returns tomorrow at 10. Are you going to watch it?
| Yes. I really like it. | |
|---|---|
| No. I saw the first few episodes but now I've lost interest. | |
| No. I didn't watch the first few episodes either. |
Will the Last of 'Scrubs' Be Burned Off in March?
by Bob Sassone, posted Feb 17th 2010 6:02PM
It has been an odd season for 'Scrubs.' Lots of new cast members, debate on whether another season was even needed, and now we're in the middle of a six week hiatus for the show. Now comes word from The Futon Critic that ABC will pretty much burn off the last two episodes of this season next month. The two episodes are titled "Our Driving Issues" (March 10) and "Our Thanks" (March 17).ABC still hasn't said anything about the show coming back. Would you like to see another season?
| Yes. Even with the new cast the show is great. | |
|---|---|
| Only if they bring the old cast back full-time. | |
| No, the show should have been canceled last season. |
Jeff Probst Wants More 'Survivor' (But Not Too Much More)
by Bob Sassone, posted Feb 9th 2010 3:09PM

When 'Survivor' host Jeff Probst renews his contract, it's usually for two years (which comes out to be four seasons of the show). But when he renewed his contract with CBS and the show last week, he only renewed it for one year (two seasons). I'm not sure if this is because he doesn't want to commit to several seasons of the show or if it's a negotiating/contract thing. Could 'Survivor' continue without Probst as host? Or is he too big a part of the show?
'Survivor: Heroes & Villains' debuts on Thursday.
| No, he's a big part of the show. | |
|---|---|
| Sure, anyone can be replaced. | |
| I think Conan should host Survivor! |
Is Apple's '1984' the Best Super Bowl Commercial Ever?
by Bob Sassone, posted Feb 3rd 2010 3:05PM
Every year around this time, everyone talks about the best Super Bowl commercials of all-time. In fact, CBS has a special tonight at 8pm, 'Greatest Super Bowl Commercials of All-Time.' Apple's '1984' ad, which introduced the Mac, is often cited as the best Super Bowl ad ever. Is it? I love it and it's certainly in the running and iconic. Some people say this is the best ad ever, period.
Here's the commercial. After the jump, take our poll.

Got an extra arm and/or leg? Bet it on Conan's next move
by Danny Gallagher, posted Jan 19th 2010 9:00PM
Ahh, Las Vegas. That hotbed of sin and vice. That holy mecca of fleshly pleasures and the most basic of human instincts. The only place in the world that would give the likes of Carrot Top full time work. Vegas oddsmakers have weighed in on Conan O'Brien's next move and Fox has topped the list with whopping odds of "-185." ABC placed second followed by CBS, HBO and the Internet. What? No PBS? Sure it's a long shot and the payout would be the entire known universe for a buck bet, but a bet's a bet.
So now that you know the odds, it's time to put your money where your meathole is...

Heroes returns tonight. Do you care?
by Bob Sassone, posted Jan 4th 2010 1:29PM
Yes, the whole "Heroes isn't good anymore" thing has been debated ad nauseam, but I'm still curious to see how many of you fans are sticking with the show, which returns to NBC tonight at 8 with a two-hour episode. I've been watching the show since the beginning and, yup, I'm in it until it's over. Does it have that new car smell of the first season? No, but I still find it (mostly) fun. Will you watch it tonight?
| Yes. I remain a loyal fan! | |
|---|---|
| I check in once in a while but it's not that good now. | |
| No. The show hasn't been good since season one. | |
| I've never seen it, but I love Triscuits! |
Tonight's New Year's Eve special on ABC has a really long title
by Bob Sassone, posted Dec 31st 2009 2:29PM
Every year we get to watch the ball drop in Times Square on New Year's Eve. A lot of people grew up watching Dick Clark host the show from a very cold Times Square, but in recent years medical problems have forced Clark to co-host the show with American Idol's Ryan Seacrest. But do they call the show New Year's Rockin' Eve or ABC's New Year's Rockin' Eve or New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest or maybe Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve?No. The title of the show is Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2010. Actually, the hour before the big ball drop throws another word in there: Dick Clark's Primetime New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2010. The hell?
What was your favorite season of The Real World?
by Bob Sassone, posted Dec 30th 2009 4:02PM

The new season - the 23rd! - of MTV's The Real World debuts tonight at 10. I used to watch this show religiously, but that was a long, long time ago. I missed the first season for some reason, but I really loved seasons 2 and 3 (L.A. and San Francisco). It was actually compelling TV back then, before media-savvy young people went on the show just to get their 15 minutes of reality fame. So I probably won't watch the D.C. season.

So what did you think of Diane Sawyer's first night?
by Bob Sassone, posted Dec 22nd 2009 8:04AM
So Diane Sawyer took over for Charles Gibson last night on ABC's World News. I don't know how "important" her first episode was. She's filled in on the show before and obviously wouldn't suddenly start yelling expletives or start drooling. She handled herself fine (though if I want to see a chick read the news I watch Katie on CBS). What did everyone else think?| She was great | |

| She should have stayed with Good Morning America | |

What's your favorite Christmas special or movie?
by Bob Sassone, posted Dec 17th 2009 6:59PM
I'm the rare type of person whose favorite Christmas movies of all-time also happen to be my favorite movies of all-time period, It's A Wonderful Life and Miracle on 34th Street. We're in the middle of December now and we're all watching our favorite Christmas movies or animated specials (either on TV or via DVD), so I thought I'd ask which is your favorite. (I know, I didn't include every single Christmas special ever made, but that's why God created the word "other").

Seven questions about the Monk finale
by Allison Waldman, posted Dec 5th 2009 7:05PM
A few more questions about the Monk finale before it disappears into TV immortality. Just some niggling thoughts that weren't really addressed in the two-part wrap up.1. Why did Joey Kazarinski choose to kill Monk with poison?
Joey was a killer for hire. He used a bomb to kill Trudy, but shot Dr. Nash. They never said how Wendy Stroud was killed, just that she was buried under the sundial at the judge's house. So, when the judge offered Joey another payday -- killing Monk -- why didn't Joey choose a direct approach and shoot Adrian? Or he could have blown up Monk's apartment. There were any number of ways to kill him, but poisoning the wipes was perhaps the most complicated. And a ricin derivative? How did he manage to acquire that? If it had been arsenic or something, that could have been bought at a hardware store. They never really explained the poison or the reason for that method of murder.
Would you pay $$$ to watch the American version of The X Factor?
by Bob Sassone, posted Dec 2nd 2009 5:01PM
So I'm about to give Meredith Baxter a call and see if she wants to go out sometime, but first I wanted to post this story about Simon Cowell. He tells GQ that he's going to bring the hit British show The X Factor to the U.S. and set it in Las Vegas. But wait, there's more! He also wants to stream the show over the web as a pay-per-view event! He expects to get 30 million people to watch every week. Would you pay to watch this?
| Yes! It's a great show. | |
|---|---|
| Pay to see it? Are you kidding me? | |
| It depends on how much it is. |
Who will win Project Runway tonight?
by Bob Sassone, posted Nov 19th 2009 5:03PM
Are people still talking about Project Runway? It was the hot show when it was on Bravo, but it seems like more of a niche hit now that it's on Lifetime. Tonight is the season finale. Who do you think will win, Irina, Althea, or Carol Hannah? Not should win, but who do you think will win? Also: did Christian Siriano give away the winner? (WARNING: THAT'S POTENTIALLY A MAJOR SPOILER!)

Do you still watch a black and white TV?
by Bob Sassone, posted Nov 13th 2009 4:01PM
I haven't owned a black and white television in 20 years, but a lot of people in the UK still do. In fact, 30,000 of them, according to the story at BBC News. That seems like a lot to me, but I figured I'd ask TV Squad readers if they still watch one or not. Sometimes I'll watch a color movie in black and white (by turning off the color), to see how it looks and see if it gets any better (note: does not work with Pauly Shore movies).
| Yup! Who needs color? | |
|---|---|
| I own one but I don't watch it. | |
| Black and white? Seriously? |
Do you love commercials or are you just lazy?
by Bob Sassone, posted Nov 2nd 2009 6:31PM

Here's an interesting factoid: 46% of people who record TV shows don't fast forward through the commercials.
Now, I'm a natural skeptic when it comes to studies like this. I always wonder how the question was asked, the specifics, is the respondent lying or over/understating something, etc, but I often find myself not fast forwarding through ads because I'm doing something else at the time (writing an episode review, for example). How about you?
| Always. Commercials suck! | |
|---|---|
| Not always. It depends on what I'm doing. | |
| Never. I wish I lived in a TV commercial! |
