YouTube on TVThe granddaddy of viral video and the leading cause of productivity decline recently turned five years old. If you're don't know what I'm referring to, please steal a computer or better yet, develop some better comprehension skills. Your local community college is a good place to start on both.

YouTube has become a cultural staple, not just for the Internet but in almost every facet of the global consumer media. It's not only been copied, but it's also been utilized, rehashed, twisted and berated by every other media conglomerate in more ways than the left over parts of an IKEA furniture kit.

True BloodRemember when TV Squad mentioned the 'True Blood' minisodes that will be shown with the encore presentations of season two on HBO in anticipation of season three in June? Someone at HBO got impatient and posted one of the minisodes online (or, more likely, recognized the marketing potential of letting people watch it in advance).

In the clip, Eric and Pam are auditioning new dancers for Fangtasia and there are more than a few comic relief moments. There is even a male dancer that is reminiscent of an old 'Saturday Night Live' Chippendale's sketch with Chris Farley. It's a self-contained story so the viewer doesn't have to worry if he or she has never watched 'True Blood' before.

Lost chartAs well all know, 'Lost' is a difficult show to understand, even if you're a regular viewer. A couple dozen characters, various timelines, various locations all add up to a confusing (though great) show.

Wired has a handy character chart (yes, there might be spoilers!), created by bioinformics scientist Martin Krzywinski using Circos software (even that sentence is confusing) that shows how all of the characters are related. The chart showing the entire cast is just a mess of colored lines that might be hard to follow, but you can use the list on the left to narrow down the list of characters and plot points you want to examine.

So a guy was sitting in a Honolulu restaurant recently and saw a piece of paper that had the word 'Lost' on it. Turns out it's the studio call sheet for the series finale! What does he do? He sends it to Gawker, of course (see also iPhone, Apple's new). And it looks like it's the real thing because ABC contacted Gawker and they want the call sheet back.

Tina FeyAh, Twitter. That web site with the funny name that for many people has suddenly become as vital as e-mail and instant messaging. Even celebrities are into it, and while there are many TV stars who on it, there are even more who aren't but should be. After the jump, my list of the seven I'd follow forever.

You'll notice a trend with the list: they're all funny people. That seems to be the thing that works best on Twitter.

1. Tina Fey. Can you imagine Fey on Twitter? That would be the online equivalent of "Must-See TV." She actually got the @tinafey account that someone else had grabbed, but she hasn't done anything with it. And, alas, she's not going to. In a recent interview with Esquire, Fey said that doing Twitter would be a "busman's holiday," and just more writing she'd have to do. Oh well. We still have Judah Friedlander (@JudahWorldChamp) and the official '30 Rock' Twitter account (@nbc30rock).

Among my people, the Irish Americans, you can only achieve the full rights of adulthood after you've ruined a Thanksgiving dinner by getting drunk and fighting your father.

The internet is a teenager right now - you can tell because it's always angry and is totally obsessed with seeing Megan Fox naked. 'Arrested Development' meets 'Star Wars'James Hibberd is fond of posting fan art mash-ups on his "Live Feed" blog over at The Hollywood Reporter. In the past, he has posted the 'Mythbusters' crew with a James Bond theme, 'Futurama' in the world of 'The Fifth Element,' and Conan O'Brien as "Coco the Barbarian" and in a stylish 'Mad Men' parody.

Hibberd's latest art posting is an 'Arrested Development'/'Star Wars' mash-up, in the style of the old 'Star Wars' movie posters. The poster features the Bluth clan, including Michael (Jason Bateman), Lindsay (Portia de Rossi), George (Will Arnett), and Lucille (Jessica Walter), as well as the banana stand and Tobias bare-chested in his cutoff shorts. Joel McHale on Ryan Seacrest's Web siteThe feud between Joel McHale and Ryan Seacrest heated up yesterday when the 'Community' and 'The Soup' star redesigned Seacrest's web site for April Fool's Day. The site was packed with McHale-related photos, audio clips, video clips, and links. The 'American Idol' banner ads showed McHale's photo. Even the Twitter link went to McHale's account, where he disclosed Seacrest's Twitter password to be "hairlesslittlechoirboybody."

According to Entertainment Weekly's Popwatch column, the site was crippled with traffic for a portion of the day, but was available later. McHale's Facebook update, shown on the right side of the site, asked readers to help crash the site again and to keep visiting Seacrest's Twitter account.

The 'V' countdown clock that appeared during 'Lost''Lost' viewers were screaming their pretty little head's off at ABC and for once, it's not to drown out the stinging migraines from trying to figure out just what the hell is going on.

The network ran a countdown clock for the premiere of 'V' during last night's episode and viewers took to the Twitter to voice their displeasure with it.

EA GamesIf you ever wanted to produce your own TV show but never had the money, the crew willing to work for free, the ability to design realistic looking sets, or the drive to get up before dawn and shoot during the day's best light, there's hope.

Will Wright, the creator of the iconic line of "Sim" games including the popular "Sims," has created a program called the "Storymaker Engine" that lets ordinary schlubs like you and me create TV shows using Sims.

Wright and company are hoping that the stories created from this engine can be turned into an entertaining half-hour to hour of television for Current TV. "Machinima" shows like 'Red vs. Blue' and the 'South Park' 'Make Love, Not Warcraft' episode have helped bring some video game driven entertainment to audiences, but would you watch an entire show that was produced on a video game?

Teri HatcherLet's face it: the Internet is a man's world. It's populated by an endless supply of videos of dumbasses getting hit in the nuts, how-to guides on illegal fuel injection modifications and porno, porno, porno.

Thankfully, one woman aims to change all that. Actress and 'Desperate Housewives' star Teri Hatcher is on the heels (see what I did there?) of launching her own woman-oriented website, the aptly named GetHatched.com.

So far, it looks to be a web magazine for women that provides stories from Hatcher and other contributors "that celebrates women and offers funny and real answers to life's little dilemmas and big problems." In other words, it's the Lifetime Network but it actually relates to women.

Happy TownWe've talked about ABC's new mystery series 'Happy Town;' it'sabout a small town plagued by the return of someone or something evil that starts terrorizing again - it stars Sam Neill, Amy Acker, and Steven Weber. Now you have a chance to see the first episode before it premieres on ABC April 28. There's a new site up and it's pretty simple: if they get 50,000 "demands" by April 21 they'll show the first episode online.

The site doesn't exactly make it clear, but I think that it's 50,000 demands in a metro area. You have to sign up for the site (e-mail, age, gender, where you live, etc) to get all of the details.

Is 50,000 a lot on the web? It seems to me that they can hit this rather easily, but maybe that's the whole idea. The site gets some attention, the show gets attention, and fans can see the first episode of the show before it airs.

'The Pacific'
Reviews of the first installment of HBO's ten-part mini-series 'The Pacific' have been mixed -- I liked it, though -- and ratings figures aren't in yet. Nevertheless, the network has taken the bold step of putting that entire episode online for free viewing; you can catch it here. Is it a response to poor ratings -- even though we don't know those figures yet, the network likely does -- or just an attempt to lure people in who don't already have HBO?

The premiere was more style over substance, which is one of the major problems critics had with it, but it did offer some stunning visuals and established an atmosphere very different than 'Band of Brothers.' As a companion piece of sorts to the modern classic 'Brothers,' brought to us by the same production team including Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg, expectations were pretty high for 'The Pacific' coming out of the gate.

I've always wondered what it would be like to watch George Bush Sr. and George Bush Jr. have a sit-down. It must the most awkward fly-on-the-wall conversation since King Richard III told Henry Stafford he was going to have to make some "cutbacks."

Now thanks to the people at Funny or Die, now I know. And knowing is half the battle.

The site released some cutting room floor footage from their recent "Presidential Reunion" PSA directed by Ron Howard featuring some funny, improvised dialogue between Dana Carvey and Will Ferrell as the presidential father and son.

The Google logoGoogle is quite the active gal. She's hooked up with email, telephones, document processing, web browsers and even computer operating systems. Now she's about to hook up with your TV.

The company is testing a new TV searching service with Dish Network that allows TV viewers to not only search for their favorite shows, but also for info on the web and videos on YouTube.

Between this, TiVo, Netflix and Playstation, is there any reason anyone should ever have to leave the comfort of their couch? Not until Google develops a service with AdultFriendFinder, and trust me, they are working on it.

Nearly 30 years of one of American television's most storied and beloved traditions (i.e. portraying our presidents as moronic simpletons whose inability to tie their own shoes could send the country to Defcon 3) came to a glorious fountain of awesomeness at Funnyordie.com.

The website premiered a new public service announcement on federal finance laws directed by Ron Howard in the form of a very funny "Presidential Reunion" sketch that features the likes of Will Ferrell, Darrell Hammond, Dana Carvey, Dan Aykroyd and even Chevy Chase reviving their classic impressions of former presidents including (respectively) George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George Bush Sr., Jimmy Carter and (the most hilarious in my opinion) Gerald Ford who come together to help the beleaguered Barack Obama, played by Fred Armisen. Jim Carrey also stepped in the room to play Ronald Reagan probably because Randy Quaid is nuttier than a Payday bar these days.

Goodman, played by Bob Odenkirk who also contributes to the series as a writer, appears all over the site in some hilarious videos that play with Odenkirk's trademark humor and provides some interesting teaser links to the show such as "the tragedy of Wayfarer Flight 515" and Walter's son's funding raising site, SaveWalterWhite.com.

ConanNBC has removed a thread on their Jay Leno message forum that was taken over by Team Coco. The Conan fans not only posted messages about Conan (that they wanted Jay "to see"), they also posted pictures of Conan like the one on the right (both bearded and clean-shaven versions).

I'm going to side with NBC here. Hey, you're bound to see that stuff online and there's a history of people doing things like this to get their point across, but it's their forum and they can do whatever they want with it, especially if it's overrun with messages and photos from fans of someone who doesn't even have a show on the network anymore. Of course, this doesn't excuse NBC from the other "let's delete Conan" stuff they pulled, including taking down all of his 'Tonight Show' clips from the site and the dumping of Conan collectibles from the NBC online store.

You think 'Mad TV' was the first to use the name iPad? Actually, the name was used in a 1999 episode of 'Felicity.' Her friend is trying to decide which computer to buy and rattles off a list of products that are available at the store...hmmmmm.

Obviously she mixes up "Thinkpads" and "iBooks." Either that or J.J. Abrams has powers we mortals can't understand.

So what has Conan O'Brien been up to now that he's part of the near ten percent population who are currently unemployed? He's doing what the rest of us are doing, besides drinking.

A Twitter account with the name "ConanOBrien" popped up earlier today and the first Tweet went out just a few minutes ago. Check it out here before Twitter dashes our hopes and declares the account just one in another long line of celebrity impersonating hoaxes.



UPDATE: (8:30 P.M.) Twitter has verified that "ConanOBrien" belongs to the real Coco.
