I think that no one should replace Charlie and make the show go on without him. It would be funny if they took "Manny Quin" the mannequin and wrote him in the show and base the show around Rose. What would be really funny is that they write in the show that Charlie drove off a cliff and left money to "Manny Quin" and Rose, Alan, the Mother and Berta all try to figure a way to get this money that he left "Manny Quin". But "Manny Quin" needs to be there to sign the will to get the money....I think that would take a whole season of the show.....

I don't know why Ashton can't just be Charlie with some cosmetic surgery done to account for the younger look. They replace actors playing characters all the time on soap operas and we adjust just fine, most of the time.

MR. LORRE, Here's my idea for the revamped show with Ashton Kutcher: Charlie has been arrested for drunk driving. Having had previous arrests, this time he ends up in jail and doesn't know how long he'll be there. Alan tells Jake that they need to find someone to take into the house as a renter who is smart enough to be earning a lot of money, but dumb enough to be willing to pay some hefty rent that will cover all the expenses associated with running Charlie's household. Ashton can be an actor who just got divorced and needs a place to live. And, because of his ties to the entertainment world, he can arrange to have the beach house used occasionally as a filming location, which will bring in additional income for Alan to live on and allow guest stars to be at the house (when they're filming). Ashton can be a Charlie-type, or completely different. He's a good choice. He has a sense of humor and a certain beyond-his-years maturity, while at the same time being goofy.

Mr. Lorre. There are some really good story ideas posted here. Hope you will read them. I do not think Ashton Kutcher is funny, nor entertaining, nor anything else for that matter. No talent, sorry. I was excited when I heard Matt Dillon might get the gig as I thought he would be perfect for it. Or, Jack Black or similar type actor. I can see you are going to create an entirely different character but, I don't think that is the right way to go. We have all loved the show the way it was and with the characters the way they were. You need another Charlie "type" with the dark, sarcastic humor. When he came on John Cryer could say , "oh no, not another one!". Sorry but, this one will be "el floppo" I think.

Judith kicks Herb out and he comes to live with Alan. I could watch Herb all day! The ex's living together while Charlie and Rose are starting a life of their own somewhere 'unknown'.

A homeless guy who lives under Charlies deck with a laptop who is a serial computer dater. Gets free access to Charlies wireless, Jimmies the sliding doors to use the bathroom and wear the dead Charlies clothes. Befriends Jake and Rose, and torments Alan even more than Cahrlie did.

i like the long lost brother approach like big vally. here is my pitch its ridiculous.... you have someone like kevin hart enter the show as alan and charlies long lost brother. charlie has decided to travel around the world looking for whatever..... he decides to put one major stab at alan give the kevin hart character the car the house and a large sum of his bank account unitl he returns. alan thinking everything will be his for a while gets squashed again. THe Kevin Hart character would of course be the antagonist to alan once again but much funnier but also a friend to alans son. He even has a steamy affair with alan's ex wifem he even wears some of charlies shirts. with the clever writers on the staff the staff could make this show dammmm funny. plus kevin hart would be hilarious... much of kevins past would be well not really talked about but some references here n there would tell how this could actually happen. you def need starpower but do something new.
