Hello Joe Scarborough, I am a regular viewer of your show. Although I may disagree with many of your political views, I respect you as a person and appreciate the tone of your discussion. I am writing about your show this morning. I am a former high school teacher, school bus driver, scout leader, trainer, and am currently a learning and performance consultant. I was extremely pleased with your decision to support education with your town hall meeting. I am also a parent of three sons all of who have had difficulty with various aspects of our school system. One of my sons is a very talented musician who must struggle every day with Aspberger's disorder. I have interacted with education from nearly every angle. Often my interactions have been very frustrating in face of the intractability of the K-12 system. Your show has an opportunity to have a nationwide impact on our approach to bringing up our children and help them achieve their highest potential. I feel you are missing one extremely important point in your discussion of our educational system. In a whole day of school, an average student will be actively learning for only ten or fifteen minutes! Each student actively learns at different times and by different styles. In short even the best run schools are horribly inefficient! Up until recently, our main approach to improving the educational system is like focusing on placing more life boats on the Titanic! That is important but if I were on the Titanic, I would prefer to miss the iceberg over having enough life boats! I strongly recommend Dave Meier to you as a guest to discuss accelerated learning. He is an excellent public speaker and an expert on the field of accelerated learning. He can show you how to achieve tremendous improvement in learning results simply by doing a lot less to our students and a little more with them. Joe; You might take the lady there more serious when she says the military is not as good as they used to be. All you have to to do is look at the mental Catgories at the time of enlistment. While the economy may be playing a big part in enlisting Cat 3 people at this time, You will find that "Cat. 4's" make a lot of the enlistment effort. If you want to really improve the Military you must put the draft back into the game, This obligation helps both inside and outside the Military, You see, you get more of the "middle of the road" people that that later in their life - knows the military from the inside and their votes will count with some knowledge. We are about to get to the point that America is depending on the "Street Kids" to protect them. Not a good Idea. Also I know that Obama will go anywheres to get in front of a camra; but why did the have to go to FT Hood to grab all the attention away from the dead. The intire emphase of the "memorial" was ruined by him.
