EDITION: U.S.
Back to New Shows We've Already Given Up On
'Pan Am'
ABC
The promise: A high-altitude cure for 'Mad Men' withdrawal, with a quasi-feminist twist: plucky Christina Ricci and the breathtaking Margot Robbie steer clear of marriage and chart a course for globe-spanning adventure.
Why I've given up: Not to say the showrunners have to pull a complete Weiner, but it's worth noting that we'd already spent three seasons getting to know the characters of Sterling Cooper before history intervened in the form of the Kennedy assassination. 'Pan Am' tried to squeeze a decade's worth of front-page intrigue into its pilot. Speaking of pilots, the guys flying the plane have no mojo.
