Lietentant Theo Kojak, 'Kojak'
Everett
Kojak was a contradiction: tough and gritty to the core, yet always well-dressed and, more often than not, sucking on a lollipop. Set on the mean streets of 1970s New York, Telly Savalas created one of the most memorable TV detectives ever, and 'Kojak' pioneered a format of police procedural that would become ubiquitous in later decades. Kojak was smart enough to coin himself a memorable catchphrase -- "Who loves ya, baby?" -- which made catching bad guys even more entertaining to watch.
