Check out the new promo below:

"It's about Masters and Johnson, the man and woman who instigated all these incredible sexual experiments back in the '50s," co-star Beau Bridges recently told HuffPost TV. "I am the dean of the university where these experiments are happening. I'm sort of mentoring Masters -- he's my hope for the future -- so I'm a little freaked when he tells me what he's going to do."

Bridges recounted a particularly memorable scene from the first episode, which led to a somewhat awkward encounter after filming: "The first thing I have to do is peer at a woman's vagina through a dildo while she masturbates ... and it's outfitted with a magnifying glass. The poor woman who had to have her legs up in stirrups, I couldn't see her face because they had up a cloth ... and then my wife and I are out to dinner in New York, where we filmed, and this lady comes up and was very nice and friendly, 'Oh it's so nice to see you!' and it was this woman that I'd been staring at her crotch all day! [Laughs.] I said, 'I hardly recognize you!'"

If that doesn't give you a hint about what to expect from the show, nothing will.

"Masters of Sex" premieres Sunday, September 29 at 10 p.m. ET on Showtime.

Are you looking forward to "Masters of Sex"?

<HH--236SLIDEEXPAND--293035--HH>

LOS ANGELES -- Prosecutors won't be filing charges of vandalism against "Curb Your Enthusiasm" actor Jeff Garlin after he was accused of smashing a car window in a dispute over a parking space.

Instead, the 51-year-old will receive a hearing at the Los Angeles city attorney's office where he will be advised about the law and how to avoid such incidents.

Frank Mateljan, spokesman for the city attorney, said Monday that Garlin's alleged actions did not reach the threshold for a criminal filing. Office hearings are frequently used in such cases to avoid a full-blown criminal case.

"We examined the facts and determined an office hearing is most appropriate in this circumstance," Mateljan said.

According to a police report, the dispute occurred in the parking lot of a Studio City CVS drugstore. Garlin was arguing with the driver of a Mercedes and allegedly broke the driver's side window of her car with his bare hand.

He was arrested Saturday.

Mateljan said the woman whose car was damaged has the option of suing Garland in civil court for damages.

Garlin played Larry David's friend and manager on "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and was the show's co-executive producer. He has also appeared frequently on "Arrested Development" and other television shows.

But we have a saying in the music business: Do you know how you know that you've made it? As soon as they start hating on you, you must be huge. So we get all of the hate from the critics, from the journalists, from everybody, 'Idol's fallen, the show's over, it's tanking, whatever.' I see it and go, 'Wow, we must be really good.'"

Jackson insisted that the criticism "never gets to me. I played in so many bands for nobody in the crowd, I played a million shows before I made four dollars. So guess what? Bring it on."

Bergeron isn't blind to the singing contest's power either, especially now "Dancing with the Stars" is in direct competition with "The Voice" on Mondays. "We're live every week, so Tuesday morning when I go in and we're going to do a show that night live, I've got the overnights from Monday, and I'm looking at the half-hour breakdowns. We've got 'The Voice' against us now, and we've taken a hit because of that, so I grumble about that a little bit," he said.

As for his own reality guilty pleasure, Jackson said, "I'd be the last guy to watch a singing show," but admitted that he did watch "The Voice" when it first debuted. "I watched it once the first season, and I liked the spinning chairs. I thought that was very game-show, very 'Star Trek' or something. But being a proud boy from Louisiana, you know what I love? 'Duck Dynasty,' baby. I'm in, dude."

"Voice" coach Shakira attributes the series' ratings success to the mentors' relationships: "I do feel that there is a special chemistry between us four," Shakira recently told Oprah about her fellow coaches. "We just have fun … It's very genuine ... Whatever you see on TV, it's exactly what's happening."

Producer Mark Burnett had a different explanation for "The Voice's" popularity -- he thinks audiences are tired of the backstage drama and onstage snark from judges such as Simon Cowell, Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj. "['The Voice'] is kinder. There's no humiliation of anybody on 'The Voice'" he recently observed. "Many people said when we started, 'Oh, people won't want to watch unless there [are] big fights. It wasn't true. 'The Voice' has succeeded with kindness and just great talent.

For more from Jackson and the other reality TV stars, click over to THR.

Why do you think "The Voice" is so successful?

In my dating days, a friend of mine would accuse me of second seasoning potential partners. This was a reference to my ultimate disappointment in things after the initial excitement ran out. The reference came from the fact that I would watch the first season of a TV series and love it, but then would inevitably find the second season to be disappointing and often quit. This is a common phenomenon with TV shows as well as dating. Like Mad Men, or Lost, they come in with a high concept and put all the energy into a first season, but ultimately sell out, or have no strong follow up. While others continue and are sometimes rewarded, I cannot overcome my disappointment.

While most people were ready to commit to TV shows and loved them no matter what they did, I was breaking up with TV shows like a serial dater on JDate. I was always open to trying something new and would often find myself loving a new show, but if they disappointed me (and ultimately they would,) the love would immediately extinguish. Sometimes, I would let things linger and would give them another and another try, but once they did not keep to the initial level of perfection, I could not see them the same way.

This behavior was evident in many aspects of my life including my love life. Initial excitement ultimately leading to disappointment and me dragging out a loveless relationship longer than I should. This is when my friend would tell me "Don't second season her!" Don't fall into the slump you always fall into when the initial excitement wears off. She would try to explain to me that like TV shows, people are not perfect, but if you can find a way to love them even with their imperfections, you are promised a fulfilling life. You just need to not let go of that need for perfect innocence.

I would argue that the incompatibilities are real. The reasons I drop shows are because they sell out, or lose focus, or change head writers, or are over embraced by a network, or start playing for the lowest common denominator. There are a million reasons people break up. It is not that I gave up -- they did. When I would reach this point, my friend would proclaim: "Name one thing that you did not second season!"

My answer to my friend was always very simple: Arrested Development. That was the one show that did not disappoint. I realized that season three ended in a rush, I saw all of its faults, but when I watched Arrested Development, I was in heaven. I would savor every moment of genius. Music would play, I could never get sick of it. It was so complex, I could watch it over and over again. This was true love. I even made my ringtone with the theme from Arrested Development, so I could look forward to calls.

Secretly, there was a side of me that was happy that Arrested Development was cancelled after three seasons. It kept my relationship solid and did not give them a chance to sell out or run out of material. There was no room for disappointment. It reminded me of that first love. It was innocent and heartbreaking. No one could have prepared me for my first heartbreak. You spend the rest of your life remembering the perfection that this pure love had, and could never be had again.

You move on to other shows, but you keep thinking about Arrested Development. At a certain point you know it is over, Arrested Development is not coming back, and you continue to try to move on. But nothing hits the spot like Arrested Development. Some try too hard, others just don't get it. Nothing can replace that true love. Even when others finally start to appreciate the greatness of the show, all you can think is: too little too late. Where were you when the show needed you?

You start to forget your love, you find temporary replacements... returning no longer even makes sense so you dismiss any rumor of a return. And just when you were totally over it, she comes back.

The return of Arrested Development was an emotional experience. It was a resurrection. When in life do you get to have something that you loved and was completely gone, come back? And how can it do it without disappointing? Can they ever be the same? Must I remind everyone of what George Lucas did with Star Wars? Or the last Indiana Jones? Will they try too hard?

But Arrested Development was different. It was so self aware it could make fun of itself for trying to hard, or for jumping the shark (as it literally did in an early episode when Henry Winkler's character jumps over a shark, referencing the fact that the term was coined in reference to his character on Happy Days... oh the layers of brilliance.) From early on, I was reading about the efforts not to disappoint. I had faith that if anyone can do it, Mitch Hurwitz and the crew could.

And then your true-love-ex comes back. She is older, not as youthful... some things have changed, some stayed the same... but as my friend knows, the beauty of true love is that you will love them no matter what. No matter what they do, you will want to spend time with them and embrace their faults.

At first Arrested Development started slow, a bit confusing... it's Netflix release allowed new formats such as run time and full availability... It felt disjointed... and the reviews did not help... some pearls of the original genius, but not the LOL experience I originally knew. But I stuck with it. It took about six episodes when it all started coming together. It was not the same, but it clearly had the same core and before I knew it, it was like old times. Different, but still great. Are people ever season four'd in real life?

The new format allows access to all the episodes at once... but that is not how I enjoyed my love. I savor every moment, and take the show one episode at a time... I don't allow myself to overdose, after all, this is true love and I never want it to end.

Now, I hear there is talk of an ALF movie...

Hank and Sarah shippers, you may be getting what you want after all.

TVLine asked "Parenthood" executive producer David Hudgins if Ray Romano could return for Season 5 as Hank Rizzoli, a love interest for Lauren Graham's betrothed character Sarah Braverman. Hank, who also happened to be her boss, got in between Sarah and her fiance Mark Cyr (Jason Ritter), who eventually called off the wedding. But in the Season 4 finale, Hank moved away to Minnesota be closer to his daughter, leaving the romantically-challenged Sarah alone again.

But it looks like Hank's move may not be permanent ...

“We're currently discussing it,” the "Parenthood" EP told TVLine at the recent ATX Television Festival of Romano returning to the NBC series. “I love Ray Romano and thought he was so good on the show last year ... He's great in that part and he works hard. He doesn't just show up and do his [scenes]; he actually researched the character."

With Ritter starring in the Fox pilot "Us & Them" -- starring Graham's "Gilmore Girls" daughter Alexis Bledel and based on the UK comedy "Gavin & Stacey" -- it looks like Mark might be gone for good and Graham previously joked that both he and Romano might be out for Season 5. When HuffPost Live asked her in April who she thinks Sarah should end up with, Graham laughed and said, "Well, we don't have either of them for next season, so I might have to go back to Billy Baldwin."

But earlier, at "Parenthood's" PaleyFest event in March, Graham did express hope for both of Sarah's suitors. "I felt that the finale left it open. Sarah made a choice and then Ray Romano's like, ‘I'm moving to Minnesota,' so to me there was a lot of energy in both areas, so I didn't view it as ‘I chose one or the other' necessarily because it wasn't going to work out. It could still go anywhere," she noted. "It didn't feel like, ‘Here's where we're going to go next season!' It's hard because I really enjoyed working with Ray, and Jason has been part of this family for the whole time, so every year it's been hard to imagine the possibility of saying goodbye to him."

For more from Hudgins on "Parenthood" Season 5, click over to TVLine.

Would you want Romano to return to "Parenthood"?

Nikki Levy has a way about her, a way of clinging to her visions until they materialize and sizzle. By day, Miss Levy is a Fox Animation movie producer, collaborating with global superstars like Beyonce and Amanda Seyfried. By night, she is the reigning queen of the project closest to her heart, Don't Tell My Mother!, a sidesplitting, live storytelling show where actors, comics, writers and an array of show biz types take the stage to share true and uproarious stories they'd never want their mothers to know. "All my life I've been told that I am 'too much,' that I need to 'reign it in' and 'simmer down,'" Levy says. "I'm just not a buttoned-up person, and I wanted to create a place where it was appropriate to be inappropriate, where performers could be funny, but also be poignant and real and vulnerable. I wanted to have a night where we all just get to relish in our collective dysfunction."

Part stand-up comedy, part spoken word, Don't Tell My Mother! is a night of balls-out, shocking and wickedly funny storytelling that occupies a warm and special place in entertainment circles. It's become one of the hippest shows and coolest vibes in Los Angeles and New York, and just might be the most fun you'll ever have while cringing. Don't Tell My Mother! is not exactly family entertainment, but it's also not an Andrew "Dice" Clay show. While the material -- whether it's an awkward losing-my-virginity tale or an unfortunate and embarrassing drug experience -- may be raunchy, the laughs are chiefly derived from raw and relatable slices of the human condition and have the important effect of drawing the audience closer together. Amid the laughter, there is a collective feeling of, as Levy puts it, "You, too? Me, too!"

Don't Tell My Mother! guest storytellers comprise a who's who of the Hollywood creative scene, including Mary Lynn Rajskub (24), Laraine Newman (Saturday Night Live), Jen Kirkman (Chelsea Lately), writer/producer Cindy Chupack (Sex & The City, Modern Family) and, most recently, actor/musician/pop culture icon Traci Lords. "I've shared so much about my life," Lords says. "I don't have a lot of skeletons in my closet. It's all out there. But the premise of this show is sharing the one story that you didn't tell. My Don't Tell My Mother! piece definitely has some heart to it. There are parts that are rude and touching and funny and outrageous, and a little heartbreaking. It's a little bit embarrassing, too. For me, telling a story like this in front of a live audience is a terrifying experience, and I think that's part of the appeal. I think it's good to be afraid, because there is very little that scares me these days."

"I just want everyone to enjoy the stories and to smile," Lords continues, "and to see that the show is like going to a really outrageous party and having a couple of people stand up and tell fabulous stories. It's a really intimate, fabulous party."

So, does Traci Lords really still have a story she doesn't want her mother to hear?

"My mom actually does not know this story, and she's not invited to the show," Lords says with a laugh. "I didn't give her a ticket. I'm not ready. I'm ready to tell the world, but I can't tell my mother yet!"

For further information, visit donttellmymother.com

Daytime soap operas are among the most panned genres of television out there. The question is why? We should always remember that being a unique medium within the television landscape would qualify it as a respectable source of entertainment -- after all, it's not a reality show. It's quite the opposite most of the time.

The CBS daytime series The Young and the Restless celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, and it's doing so with a bang.

One of its stars, a personality stand out in the daytime landscape in the name of Max Ehrich was recently nominated for a Daytime EMMY award in the Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series category. Max is to date the youngest male ever nominated in this category.

"It was a great honor to be recognized by my peers, this week should be a week that I'll never forget."

Max is not only a nice guy, and proven by the nomination to be an outstanding actor, he is not without his modesty.

"I really had no expectations when it came to winning; I truly just wanted the honor of being nominated. There were a lot of powerful actors that have been nominated in that category."

"A lot of times we question ourselves as to whether we are in the right place in our lives, are we doing the right thing? Over these last few weeks, I've seen my wildest childhood dreams begin to manifest and everything is just falling into place. I'm from a small town in New Jersey, the dream of making it this far was very much alive within me. Hollywood and that life always seemed so far away."

"My grandfather had been an avid fan of Young and the Restless since the beginning. He passed away three days before I received the nomination, so it's a bittersweet moment because I wanted to be able to share this with him."

Add singing and dancing to the list of talents that the young star has under his belt. Max's band, for which he sings and plays the piano, are heavily influenced by The Beatles.

"It's called Infinity and we're a brotherhood. We're really just committed to performing music that sounds and is real. The goal is to avoid the very common overproduced sound."

Working in a television landscape where time is always of the essence is not easy work, so why does the world of daytime dramas have such a negative stigma?

"The controversy and the stigma that's attached to daytime soap operas is something that I've never been able to understand -- especially coming from the world of theater. Time is of the essence, things are done in one take and with having had very little time to learn it. I wish people were able to see that. It's one of the hardest jobs for an actor. With Josh Griffith as one of our writers, I hope that stigma starts to dissipate." Max said.

The Young and the Restless has always been a standout in the daytime television landscape, not only is it ethnically diverse in casting and its audiences; it also breaks the age barrier that daytime dramas are known for catering to.

This is in no doubt due to the fact that this series as opposed to its peers and competitors have taken on real problems and as a result created real characters -- a credit to the show's writers and the success they have garnered as a result of harnessing the show to reality. No doubt something the daytime world can use more of. It's also a strong indicator as to why The Young and the Restless is leading the pack in nominations.

"The show for which I earned the nomination was about cyber bullying. It's something I wanted to raise awareness on -- it's becoming an epidemic that's plaguing our world. I'm someone who is very bent on accepting everyone and not passing judgment because it's not truly our place. Unfortunately, when I was a child having been an artist and being in the theatre I was teased and bullied a lot -- a lot more than a kid should ever be. I'm truly proud to have been able to be part of a show that was bold and brave enough to take one of today's societal taboos," said Max.

Watch Max on The Young and the Restless on CBS daytime.

Somewhere in the mix of modeling a swimsuit and an evening gown at last night's Miss USA competition, Miss Alabama gave her take on the National Security Agency's controversial surveillance program.

When asked about the NSA's recently outed data mining operation, Miss Alabama (aka Mary Margaret McCord) responded in a manner likely to give privacy advocates nightmares. After weighing the apparent tradeoff between privacy and safety, McCord lept headfirst into the arms of the NSA.

"Government tracking of phone records has been in the news lately," asked judge Wendie Malick. "Is this an invasion of privacy, or necessary to keep our country safe? Why or why not?"

To which Miss Alabama replied:

I think the society that we live in today it's sad that, if we go to the movies or to the airport or even to the mall, that we have to worry about our safety. So I would rather someone track my telephone messages and feel safe wherever I go than feel they're encroaching on my privacy.

Writes CNET's Chris Matyszczyk in response to McCord's comment, "Sadness is something that occurs only too often in our difficult world. Especially when all we want is a little freedom to be less sad."

In her defense, Miss Alabama did offer a complete answer (unlike Miss Utah's now-infamous answer about income inequality), and hey -- she still came in second.

WATCH Miss Alabama's response, above.

Dan Harmon, the fired and re-hired creator of "Community," has now watched the fourth season of his cult comedy. And he didn't like what he saw when the show was under the direction of replacement showrunners David Guarascio and Moses Port.

"I watched ['Community'] Season 4. I guess I already knew this, but apparently I'm quite a genius. It was weird. I think I pretty feel pretty comfortable expressing any kind of like, 'Eh, not my cup of tea' about it, because ... this has been expressed a thousand times over, it's obviously not somebody doing what they do, and trying really hard to make people happy. It is very much like an impression, and an unflattering one. It's just 13 episodes of, 'Oh, I'm Dan Harmon! Die Hard!'" Harmon said on his latest Harmontown podcast.

"The weird thing that keeps eating at me is there's a system in place that's winning. Because I would have had too much leverage, too much salary [entering a fourth season]. They just flushed us, replaced us with two guys that didn't know what they were getting into... And I think they tried their best ... and that was their most admirable impulse, to not let these people down.

[Sony] accidentally, in the quest to recoup their investment, they made a TV show with a bunch of actors that make people really happy, and we got 13 more episodes. I like the idea that we've laced the opiate with a little bit of activation and a little bit of humanity."

"Community" was renewed for Season 5 in May, and in a recent interview with HuffPost TV, Joel McHale said he's glad Harmon is returning. "Dan is the voice of the show and there's nobody else on the planet like him, so when it started happening that he was coming back, I became as excited as a little boy on Christmas morning -- who celebrates Christmas. I'm thrilled he's back, [along with] Chris McKenna, who wrote 'Remedial Chaos Theory.'"

McHale also hinted at the creative void Harmon's departure left. "I think when you had such a strong voice with Dan ... you didn't know where it was going, but you really felt like, 'We know the tone of what we're doing,' and without him, that was harder."

<HH--236SLIDEEXPAND--253373--HH>

Note: Do not read on if you have not yet seen Season 6, Episode 12 of AMC's "Mad Men," titled "The Quality Of Mercy."

If ever you forget that "Mad Men" is a period piece -- even with all the glorious vintage wardrobe choices, retro scene styling and historic landmark events -- then a heavy dose of stereotyping, racism and a pitch for a truly bizarre and old fashioned-sounding ad at SC&P will snap you right back to the reality of 1968.

This week's "Mad Men" had all of that, layered with enough levels of flirtation, double-dealing and hatred to make you sicker to your stomach than a five o'clock showing of "Rosemary's Baby."

Roman Polanski's 1968 horror flick played a major part in this episode, both as the film that presented the most awkward movie theater run-in ever (seriously, you could cut the tension between Don, Ted and Peggy with a knife) and the inspiration for Peggy's supposedly Clio-worthy ad pitch for St. Joseph's Aspirin.

The pitch, shot from a baby's perspective, was more than the St. Joseph's guys had bargained for in the budget department, but it did provide one truly priceless "Mad Men" moment: Don Draper acting like a baby. Seriously.

When you got past the "wah wah wah" of it all (even if you have to watch it and laugh several times), the ad was chock-full of stereotypes and straight-up racism, and coming from someone like Peggy, a bit of a surprise.

We've seen Peggy struggle to come to terms with the changing landscape in the 1960s -- from befriending a lesbian, to letting Don's black secretary, Dawn, sleep over, and moving into an "up-and-coming" (translation: totally sketchy) neighborhood. But this ad seems to take her back to square one. If only there was "a Japanese" in the office to take a picture of Peggy to show her how much she's regressed under Ted's tutelage. (According to Megan Draper, the Japanese always have cameras on hand to take pictures. This is literally all anyone seems to know.)

But crying babies and the Japanese weren't the only ones to get offended this week: "crazy little old ladies," "wrinkled old men" and "Jewish neighbor ladies" and their penchant for pushing chicken soup got shout-outs as well. As mad as Peggy was at Don for trying to embarrass Ted in front of the client, I think in the long run, she'll thank him -- "monster" though he may be -- for giving the late Frank Gleason credit for the ad and, in turn, possibly saving her reputation.

Watch the full scene, above, and tell us: Did you find this offensive or funny?

Marc Ghali has a talent for spotting doppelgängers throughout history.

In a series titled "Then and Now" the Toronto-based graphic designer combines the faces of global celebrities across the decades and turns them into singular pop culture portraits. By pairing the silhouette of Princess Diana with Kate Middleton, or melding the smiles of Barack Obama and Malcolm X, the artist is able to produce eerily unified images.

"I wanted to do something fun creatively," Ghali stated in an email to The Huffington Post. "I was inspired by a series called 'Iconatomy', and wanted to draw on parallels between influential figures pasts and present in an interpretative way."

Scroll through the images below for a look at "Then and Now" and let us know your thoughts on the project in the comments.
<HH--236SLIDEEXPAND--303491--HH>
