Mariska Hargitay Adopts For the Second Time

It's another boy for 'Law & Order: SVU' star Mariska Hargitay! According to People, Hargitay has adopted her second child, Andrew, just six months after adopting daughter Amaya Josephine. Hargitay and husband Peter Hermann also have a 5-year-old son, August. Andrew Nicolas Hargitay Hermann was born over the summer. "We never in a million years thought it would happen this quickly, but something inside of us knew that this was right, and we said, 'Yes, yes, yes!'" Hargitay told People. "We knew this was our guy. Everything about it felt right. It felt divinely right."...

Mariska Hargitay: I'm Open-Minded About More 'Law & Order: SVU'

Mariska Hargitay said she's open-minded about sticking around for more seasons of 'Law & Order: SVU.' When asked if Season 13 (premieres Wed., Sept. 21, 10PM ET on NBC) would be her last, Hargitay said, "I'm going into this with a completely open mind." "What I've learned is you don't know what the future brings and everything is new," she said. "Everything is fresh." Hargitay's longtime co-star Christopher Meloni left the show after Season 12....

'Law & Order: SVU' Stars Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni Together Again

Former 'Law & Order: SVU' partners Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni reunited on Mon., Nov. 14. Sadly, it wasn't for an episode, but it was for a good cause! The two were spotted in New York City at the 12th Annual Make Believe on Broadway gala at the Shubert Theater. To the delight of many -- including the 'SVU' fans here at AOL TV -- the dynamic TV detective duo posed for photos on the red carpet. 'Law & Order: SVU' Shakeup: Jennifer Love Hewitt to Replace Mariska Hargitay?

Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni have made it no secret that they're interested in cutting back on their hours manning the Special Victims Unit on 'Law & Order: SVU.' But news broke today that an unlikely actress is eying a role as Hargitay's replacement: Jennifer Love Hewitt. The former 'Ghost Whisperer' star is reportedly in talks to take over as the partner of Meloni's Elliot Stabler around mid-season when Hargitay's Olivia Benson will be promoted to a supervisor position, TV Line reports. Hargitay has signed a deal to return for 'SVU''s 13th season, but will work fewer hours for the same salary. Meloni has not yet signed a deal, but he is reportedly asking for a raise and will likely not come to an official agreement until after NBC's Upfront presentation next week....

Mariska Hargitay returns to SVU tonight

Just a reminder that Mariska Hargitay returns to Law & Order: SVU with tonight's episode. This is the post-pregnant Hargitay that will appear, not the pregnant, puffy jacket Mariska that was shown in the season premiere. However, it's not like she walks right back into the squadroom and goes 'Hey everybody, I'm back! Let's get some coffee'. If you remember from the first episode of the season Mariska's character, Detective Olivia Benson, went undercover to infiltrate an eco-terrorist group based out of Oregon. In tonight's episode she returns to New York to assist A.D.A. Casey Novak in presenting evidence in a rape case. Of course, this could impact the work Olivia has been doing on the West Coast....

Mariska Hargitay and Kathy Griffin Finally Get Their Lesbian Kiss (VIDEO)

Well, it's no Sandra Bullock and Scarlett Johansson. But it's still two girls making out, and that's good enough. Kathy Griffin appeared as a guest star on 'Law and Order: SVU,' where she and Mariska Hargitay were supposed to share a lesbian kiss. NBC promoted the kiss as a big deal, but then the network got complaints about potentially homophobic dialogue in the scene. As a result, NBC cut the kiss -- but weirdly kept the dialogue that offended many people. Huh? How does that make sense again? But you can't keep a good same-sex kiss down, and so, on 'Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List' (Tue., 9PM ET on Bravo), we finally get to see what all the fuss was about. The footage of Griffin's smooch with Hargitay is revealed. Then, Griffin shares her belief that the actress has a crush on her....

'Law & Order: SVU' Execs Say Mariska Hargitay Will Appear in Every Episode Next Season

It's been a confusing time for fans of 'Law & Order: SVU' over the last few months. First, veteran showrunner Neal Baer stepped down, and then came news of star Christopher Meloni's surprise exit. After producers hired not one, but two, new actors for lead roles in the wake of Meloni's departure, worried fans have been left to question the fate of Mariska Hargitay and her character, Det. Olivia Benson. Now producers have acted to reassure fans, telling 'Entertainment Weekly' that the new additions to the cast do not pose a threat to Hargitay, and that she will continue to play a marquee role in the 'Law & Order' franchise when it returns in the fall. A NBC spokesman said that Hargitay will appear in every episode of the upcoming Season 13 even though Kelly Giddish ('The Chase') and Danny Pino ('Cold Case') have joined the cast....

Mariska Hargitay is pregnant

Mariska Hargitay, who plays Det. Olivia Benson on Law and Order: SVU, made the big announcement on her personal website, Mariska.com. It's a pretty cute site, by the way, with all sorts of little tidbits about Mariska and her causes. She seems pretty proud of the role she plays on L&O, which makes me like her even more. She just put one line on her website to announce the news, "yes, it's true there's a bun in the oven." No word on a due date. I wonder if they will write her pregnancy into the script (like with Alias) or ignore it altogether (like Will & Grace, Seinfeld)? I only watch L&O in reruns on TNT so I'm not familiar enough with her current character to pontificate about future pregnancy plotlines. Does Olivia have a husband or a boyfriend? Anyway, Mariska and her actor husband, Peter Hermann, are both gorgeous people so that is no doubt going to be one good-looking kid.[Via Celebrity Babies]...

Pregnant Mariska on the cover of TV Guide

Super happy and super pregnant Mariska Hargitay graces the cover of the April 3rd TV Guide. She has been in the background lately on Law & Order: SVU, hiding behind big coats, desks, and documents. Last night's ep was the last time we'll see her until next fall, as she is already on maternity leave. Mariska will have the baby in California, near family and friends. She said of her maternity leave, that she can't wait to "wear a big muumuu, meditate, do prenatal yoga, get massages, and lie in bed and pop chocolates." Not sure of the due date, but it's sometime in June, which means Mariska is in her third trimester of pregnancy! Mariska and her husband, Peter Hermann, met two years ago when he had a guest starring role on SVU. They are expecting a baby boy....

SVU's Mariska Hargitay gives birth to a boy

Congratulations to Mariska Hargitay! She and her husband, actor Peter Hermann, welcomed a baby boy to this world yesterday. He was a big fella... weighing in at 10 pounds, 9 oz (geez!). The baby was born by c-section one week after his due date. Mariska will be on maternity leave when Law & Order: SVU begins shooting its fall season. Her temporary replacement is Connie Nielsen. No word yet on a name. Hopefully she'll update her very groovy website with a name and a photo (so we can see whether he inherited her enviable jawline). [Via Celebrity Baby Blog]...

SVU's Mariska Hargitay gives birth to a boy -- UPDATE!

As we reported earlier this week, Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay gave birth to a boy on Tuesday, June 28th. We've now learned that she and her husband, actor Peter Hermann, named their son 'August'. He was born by c-section a week after his due date. Baby August weighed in at 10 pounds, 9 ounces. A rep tells People magazine, "Mother and baby are doing wonderfully. She is ecstatic--over the moon." Her website also has the announcement, but no photo....

Mariska Hargitay Opens Up About Christopher Meloni Leaving 'Law & Order: SVU'

Mariska Hargitay is just as upset as we are about Christopher Meloni's decision not to return as Det. Elliot Stabler on 'Law & Order: SVU' next season. The actress also known as Olivia Benson told TV Line, "For the past 12 years Chris has been my partner and friend, both on screen and off. He inspired me every day with his integrity, his extraordinary talent and his commitment to the truth. I love him deeply and will miss him terribly -- I'm so excited to see what he'll do next." We are too, Mariska. We are too....

The Women of 'Law & Order: SVU' Speak Out

[Editor's note: 'Law & Order: SVU' has never been a show to shy away from touchy subjects. In the Nov. 17 episode, 'Gray,' Detectives Detectives Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and Stabler (Christopher Meloni) meet a young woman who claims to have been the victim of date rape by her classmate. The case becomes muddled when its revealed that the two had been drinking and partying the night of the alleged rape. The women of 'Law & Order: SVU' -- Mariska Hargitay, Christine Lahti (ADA Sonya Paxton) and Allison Siko (Kathleen Stabler) -- spoke out about rape, the staggering statistics and what needs to be done about these crimes. Without further ado, Mariska Hargitay ...] This episode is one that is very close to my heart. Given that rape is the most common violent crime on campuses, it is likely that someone you know and love was a victim of sexual violence during college. Its true for me -- people I care deeply about were raped in college. So many of the letters I receive from fans are from women who...

Mariska Hargitay's (temporary) replacement on SVU

Connie Nielsen will guest star on the last six episodes of Law and Order: SVU this season, while Mariska Hargitay goes on maternity leave. The actress is having a boy and her maternity leave begins next month even though she's not due until mid-June. Nielsen will play an NYPD detective who fills in when Det. Olivia Benson goes on "special assignment". That storyline is pretty typical of SVU, which seems to have shied away from personal storylines for any of its cast members lately. Most of Nielsen's acting credits are in movies. She was in Gladiator, The Ice Harvest, and One Hour Photo. Looking at her IMDB resume, it looks as though SVU will be her first crack at episodic television....
