Castle and Beckett on 'Castle' (VIDEO)

A season finale is a good time for a romantic ending. But reaching that type of ending turns out to be a problem on 'Castle' (Mon., 10PM ET on ABC). [Spoiler alert.]...

On the Set: 'Castle'

Find out what 14 things we learned on the set of ABC's new cop drama. Sure, there are plenty of procedural shows already on TV, but there's a new one that's got us setting our DVRs already. And not just because it stars two of our favorite under-sung actors, Nathan Fillion ('Firefly,' 'Desperate Housewives') and Stana Katic (bit parts in 'The Shield,' 'The Closer,' '24' and so on) ... well, maybe that's a lot of it. But the concept's got us intrigued as well -- imagine a crime novelist helping the cops solve crimes. Now make that writer an absolute rock star ladies' man and make the lead detective a sassy, smart woman who can give him a run for his money ... and be his new muse. That, in a nutshell, is 'Castle,' ABC's new cop drama with a twist (premieres Mon., March 9, 10PM ET). AOL TV got the inside scoop on the show, straight from the stars themselves, when we visited the 'Castle' set in Hollywood. ON THE SET OF 'CASTLE'...

Castle: Fool Me Once

(S02E04) "A con man isn't just about the money; it's about the game." - Castle This week's episode of Castle continued the theme of a puzzling whodunit that takes viewers on a little journey to solve the crime. I was kept guessing the whole time, which is one reason I love Castle. The other, of course, is the lovely rat-a-tat banter between Castle and Beckett. Like a classic movie starring Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn. And it's clear that Beckett is trying hard to hide her intrigue over Castle and his work -- making a date with herself to soak in a sudsy tub, drink wine and read his novel based on her. And then the end scene where he catches her in the bathroom looking for the steamy sex scene in the book. Oh my....

Castle: The Double Down

(S02E02) "What is it about full moons that brings out the crazies?" - Castle to Beckett That line above exemplifies what I love about Castle. Richard Castle is enjoying the bizarre perps and collars traipsing through the police department; he's eating snacks and having fun, while Kate just rolls her eyes at both him and the people. They're such total opposites -- Beckett so cool and controlled and Castle like a giddy kid -- and I hope they don't mess it up by having them hook up. I was just reading a story in one of the entertainment mags, where Stana Katic says that, too. She doesn't want them to get together because it's so cliche....

Review: Castle - Sucker Punch

(S02E13) "Now I own a boat!" - Castle, mimicking a late-night infomercial guy This episode of Castle was really fun (as usual), until we learned that the killer was connected with the murder of Beckett's mother. Then things got intense really fast. And she nearly had the whole thing wrapped up in the palm of her hand, until ... she didn't. But maybe she's a little closer to solving that murder....

'Castle' - 'Den of Thieves' Recap

(S02E21) "She and Captain America are in there with Fred Cana." - Castle, noting that Beckett and the new cop are interrogating someone You could just hear the voices in Castle's head during this episode of 'Castle.' Did I miss my chance? Should I have put the moves on Beckett by now? What is wrong with me?! ...

Review: Castle - Kill the Messenger

(S02E08) "I've been bombarded with friend requests. It's like a full-time job." - Martha, on her new "MyFace" page The interaction between Castle and Beckett, and between Castle and his family, continue to be more interesting to me than the cases themselves. I like the old-fashioned whodunnit-type storylines, but find myself looking forward to the non-case scenes. That said, Castle still contains a good mix of something for everyone, whether you like the cases or the relationships. While watching tonight's episode, I also found myself thinking, if only Nathan Fillion would follow me around while I'm working. I probably wouldn't get much done, though....

Mummy Killer on 'Castle' (VIDEO)

An ancient mummy on the loose in the streets of New York City? Yes, okay, it does sound like the plot of a 'Scooby-Doo' episode. But it also happens to be the plot of the most recent episode of 'Castle' (Mon., 10PM ET on ABC). Novelist turned crime-fighter Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion) investigates the murder of a museum curator, along with his partner Kate Beckett (Stana Katic). And soon, they begin to suspect that something very weird is going on. Watch the video after the jump....

'Castle' - 'Overkill' Recap

(S02E23) As much as I adore Nathan Fillion and Rick Castle, I'm having a hard time feeling sorry for him. He's been around Beckett day in and day out, and hasn't made his move. Eventually, she's going to find a hot robbery detective to fool around with. That's just science. Castle can bust out the hurt puppy-dog eyes as much as he wants, but he should take a page from his own book and make a move....

Review: Castle - Vampire Weekend

(S02E06) Ooh, several Joss Whedon references in the first few minutes, including "space cowboy" and Buffy's vampires. Throw in a reference to Frank Miller, and it's a geeky fantasy paradise. I also got a little of my vampire fix, even if they weren't the real thing. I don't know that Kona's that into vampires, so I'm glad this episode aired on my week to review Castle. It was the usual whodunnit frolicry, with Castle and Beckett trying to piece together a murder mystery involving vampires, werewolves, and a murder that took place 18 years earlier. And the vampires and werewolves were as close to the real thing as a human can get -- with implanted fur, fang veneers, and a disease that made it impossible to go out in the daytime, lest the person catch on fire. There was even a cemetery and a stake through the heart....

'Castle' Renewed for Third Season

It looks as though Nathan Fillion will remain king of ABC's 'Castle' -- at least for another season. According to The Wrap, the slow-but-steady building procedural has earned an early third season renewal from the alphabet network, which will come as a welcome surprise to loyal fans previously concerned about its on-the-bubble status. Season 3 will run for 22 episodes. Ratings seemed lackluster last year, but ABC -- in a rare move for a major network -- stuck with the show and ordered a second season despite the shaky start, a move that clearly paid off when 'Castle' started conquering 'CSI: Miami' in the 10PM Monday time slot....

'Castle' - 'Wrapped Up in Death' Recap

(S02E19) "If something happens to me, I want you to look out for Alexis ... Would you also go into my closet and get rid of my porn collection before she finds it?" - Castle to Beckett This was sort of an odd episode of 'Castle,' in that it seemed like it was either filmed before the drama of the past two weeks (Beckett nearly died! Castle invited her to move in!), or they're simply back-burnering that storyline. Either way, it was kind of a funny episode with lots of great lines from Castle. That's true of every episode, though. The writing is great....

ABC renews Castle

Just when you thought this series was going to be a one seasoner, ABC goes ahead and does this. The network has renewed Castle for a second season. ABC hasn't said how many episodes the renewal is for. In fact, they haven't even said officially that the show has been picked up for a second season. We won't find out until this Tuesday, May 19, when the network unveils all of the new shows (and which of the old ones are staying or going away) at their upfront presentation....

Review: Castle - One Man's Treasure

(S02E10) ""A wife and a fiance catfight ... please can we stop for popcorn on the way?" - Castle Molly C. Quinn is such a cutie. I loved the storyline this week where she volunteers to categorize evidence, and in doing so, uses her skills to help return someone's precious "brag book" to them. She takes after her dad in the "big heart" department. Castle is good about that. They could have made Richard Castle as a roguish playboy who chases women and loves a good time, and while he's got some of that in him (see above quote), he's also a dedicated family man. The writers are good about the characters that way. Beckett is a hard-nosed detective, but she's also good with people, excelling at giving them bad news in such a way as to soften the blow....

Castle: Ghosts - open thread

I have to admit that I gave up on Castle after one episode. I thought the first episode was fair at best, with the banter between the two leads forced, Nathan Fillion a little over the top as the hero, and the mystery rather lame. I did like the daughter, Susan Sullivan, and Stephen Cannell, though. But are you still watching it? The latest buzz is that ABC will actually renew this show for a second season, though we won't know officially for a couple more weeks, at the network's upfront presentation. Until then, discuss last night's episode here. I wonder how many fans were too busy watching Chuck and Heroes on DVR or too busy discussing those season finales online after they were over....
