'Burn Notice' - 'Friends and Enemies' (Season Premiere) Recap

(S04E01) For Michael Westen, life has become quite a balancing act. Since the wrap up of the Simon situation at the end of the previous episode, in which Michael managed to save Management's butt -- i.e. John Mahoney's character -- he was treated pretty well. You could even say he's in the cat bird seat. For more on that and the sojourn to the jungle, read on....

Marcia Cross got married

Marcia Cross, who plays Bree on Desperate Housewives, may have gotten married over the weekend. According to People magazine, Cross married stockbroker Tom Mahoney on Saturday in San Gabriel, California. If the news is accurate, she chose a good weekend to tie the knot. From the sounds of it, all the paparazzi made the trip to Sydney, Australia for these nuptials. Isn't this the housewife who, in real lie, admitted to being desperate to find a mate back during season one of DH?...

The Simpsons: Funeral for a Fiend

(S19E08) Welcome to the Frasier reunion. Yes, not only did we have Kelsey Grammer reprising his role as Sideshow Bob Terwilliger in this episode of The Simpsons but we also had David Hyde Pierce return as Cecil Terwilliger and John Mahoney come in as the boys' father. While Pierce and Mahoney did have their moments it was all Grammer this episode as a Sideshow Bob coming apart at the seams. And, that's appropriate, as it was the tenth time that Bob has appeared on the animated comedy. I fear there is a bit of a discrepancy, though, since Bob didn't attempt to murder Bart in each of those appearances. For instance, in the first season episode "Krusty Gets Busted" Bob attempted to frame Krusty rather than kill Bart (he barely even knew who the boy was). In "Brother From Another Series" it was Cecil, not Bob, who attempted to kill the young Simpson lad. So, technically, you could say that Sideshow Bob directly attempted to kill Bart in five episodes (including tonight's). This, I am sure, will bring debate to th...

Betty White Previews New 'Hot In Cleveland' Season, Will Hit on 'Almost Anybody' (VIDEO)

Betty White stopped by 'Good Morning America' (weekdays, 7AM on ABC) to preview the new season of 'Hot In Cleveland,' and got a little dreamy-eyed talking about some of the upcoming guest stars, especially John Mahoney. She also mentioned that Don Rickles and Carl Reiner will be making guest appearances, prompting host Robin Roberts to call her a name-dropper. "I know what's good for me," joked White. Roberts couldn't help but bring up the last time White was on 'GMA,' when she was hitting on host George Stephanopoulos. "Oh, yeah, I'll hit on almost anybody," said White. "Maybe even Don Rickles." White also mentioned that 'Cleveland' will visit Amish country in one episode, which features White's character Elka on the lam, using only her flirting skills to stay one step ahead of the law....

'Chelsea Lately': Adam Brody Loves Playing Dumb Cops (VIDEO)

Adam Brody admitted on 'Chelsea Lately' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on E!) that he likes playing dumb cops. He's got another one lined up for 'Scream 4.' "They're so terrible at their job," he laughed. "I love playing an idiot with a gun." Chelsea Handler suggested he maybe play a rapper in his next film, but we have an even better idea. Somebody needs to get Adam Brody into the next 'Police Academy' film. If they go with the proposed continuation, he could simply be a new recruit. But if they decide to reboot the franchise, our vote for Brody is the role of Mahoney, made famous by Steve Guttenberg in the first four films and subsequent cartoon series. He's got the right blend of handsomeness, charm and goofiness to make it work....

'V' - 'John May' Recap

(S01E07) "Let them have this one victory, because I'm about to deliver them a thousand defeats." - Anna, before she sinks into the shiny pool with her little eggs. Hells bells, Ryan may be a good guy now, but he wasn't always that way. In fact, he was pretty nasty back in the day. When he and the gang went to track down John May's communication device, Ryan spilled the beans to John's stepson James about what really happened ten years earlier. John May's suicide note was a fake. Oh, and by the way, James, that girl you're hanging out with? Under that human skin, she looks like the Vaal from the planet Gamma Trianguli VI on 'Star Trek.' Hmmm......

The Mentalist: Red John's Friends

Finally, an episode of The Mentalist with a significant amount of story arc. We really got to see Jane's lust for revenge in this one, and the lengths he would go just to get a bit closer to finding out who Red John is. The Mentalist jumped out of its formula slightly this week, and it worked for me. We learned some new things about Jane, Red John and the team, and even though it could have been an extremely dark episode, it was just dark enough to get the point across while still being entertaining....

John Munch strikes again!

So who saw this past Sunday's episode of The Wire? If you did, then you probably saw the quick little cameo by Richard Belzer as a bar patron near the end of the episode. After I watched it, one question came to mind: was he playing John Munch? According to this NPR article, he was. However, the basis for the logic was subtle and only a serious TV buff would have picked up on it. Not even I caught it and I'm a huge Wire and Homicide fan. At one point during his conversation with the bartender (as Clark Johnson's character Gus Haynes walked by) Munch mentioned that he owned a bar once. Now if you recall, in the later seasons of Homicide, Munch did own a bar. Here's where it gets interesting though. Do you remember who he owned the bar with? Detective Meldrick Lewis... played by Clark Johnson. Crazy, huh? Anyway, here's the real point of this post. With this appearance on The Wire, Belzer has now played Munch on eight different programs. That's insane! The only other characters to come close to that are Norm ...

John Leguizamo joins ER

OK, so John Stamos wasn't available (his ABC show Jake In Progress got a surprising pick-up), but ER found a good replacement. John Leguizamo will join the cast as a doctor for at least 12 episodes this fall. This comes on the heels of news that Third Rock From The Sun's Kristen Johnston is also joining the show this season, as a head nurse....

In the Limelight: John Swartzwelder

Who in the world is John Swartzwelder? Trust me, if you watch The Simpsons, you know who John Swartzwelder is. He has been a writer for the show since the first season, and has penned more episodes than anyone else. You know all those references to old time America and obscure, antiquated sayings? You can blame Swartzwelder for at least part of that....
