Charlie Brown Is Here to Stay: ABC Picks Up 'Peanuts' Specials Through 2015

If you awake in a cold sweat, worried this will be the year 'Peanuts' holiday specials no longer air, then you shall sleep soundly tonight. ABC has renewed their agreement to play the Charlie Brown specials for another five years. Does that mean they'll continue to air 'It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown'? Yes. 'A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving'? Yes. 'A Charlie Brown Christmas'? Of course. 'Happy New Year, Charlie Brown!'? That one isn't as popular, but ABC does own the rights. 'You're Not Elected, Charlie Brown'? Possibly around the next presidential election....

A Charlie Brown Thanskgiving airs November 20

It's not exactly of the same caliber as A Charlie Brown Christmas or It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, but A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving is not without its charm. The ever-malleable Charlie Brown finds himself hosting a Thanksgiving feast when a pushy Peppermint Patty invites herself and her friend Marcie over. Charlie Brown doesn't know a thing about preparing such a feast, so he and his pals go with what they know, serving up an unimpressive meal of toast and popcorn. The special will air on November 20 at 8 pm on NBC. If I had to rate this special, I'd probably place it somewhere between It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and It's the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown. A Charlie Brown Christmas will always be my favorite, though. That kind of magic you can never duplicate....

Elisabeth Hasselbeck Takes a Spin on the Ice (VIDEO)

Elisabeth Hasselbeck, who will be co-hosting with Kurt Browning a new ABC ice skating competition series, 'Thin Ice,' on Friday nights, decided she needed to get some skating lessons from skating star Kristi Yamaguchi. So she devoted a segment on Friday's 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated) to finding out what it takes to be a professional ice skater. Though a little nervous, Hasselbeck did a fairly decent job; she may have slipped and slid but she never really plopped down hard or landed on her butt. She sure gave it her best shot ... and she had fun. What do you think? Watch the video after the jump....

Skating with Celebrities: Part 4 of 7

Now that Deborah Gibson and Kurt Browning are gone, the playing field seems pretty evenly matched. It looks like the remaining teams had a lot of falls during the last few practices. Did host Scott Hamilton get taller since last week? Summer Sanders doesn't seem to tower over him as much tonight. Or, maybe I'm just used to seeing them together now so the height difference doesn't bother me as much. Well, the "witty" banter still sucks. Let's get it on......

Skating with Celebrities: Part 5 of 7

We're down to three teams: Kristy Swanson and Lloyd Eisler, Jillian Barberie and John Zimmerman, and Bruce Jenner and Tai Babilonia. I think it's pretty obvious who the weak skaters are here, but we'll see what happens on the ice. Just a quick recap: last week we bid farewell to the not-very-graceful Dave Coulier and Nancy Kerrigan. Before that, Deborah Gibson and Kurt Browning were out, and the first team eliminated was Todd Bridges and Jenni Meno....

Chris Brown is ticked off at Oprah

Yesterday, we wrote about Chris Brown's appearance on Larry King Live, where he tried to ameliorate his image. As Jane pointed out, Chris didn't really say very much. On the other hand, in the new People magazine, Brown has opened up and put his foot directly in his mouth. Chris Brown is ticked off with Oprah Winfrey and thinks she owes him an apology. Or so it seems. Brown was offended that Oprah did a show last March about domestic violence, based on Brown's public assault on his lover, the singer Rihanna. The incident took place in a car after they had both been to the Grammys. Brown was found guilty, ordered to stay away from Rihanna, sentenced to five years of probation, one year of domestic violence counseling, and six months of community service....

King of the Hill: Grand Theft Arlen

(S11E08) Peggy: There's a brown spot on the lawn, and there is a brown spot on your son. Wow, a whole hour of King of the Hill. I must say I thought this one had more yucks than the other episode....

Campbell Brown signs off CNN for the last time as she leaves the network after three years reportedly due to low ratings for her eponymous show 'Campbell Brown' (weeknights, 8PM ET on CNN)....

Alton Brown's 'Potentially Deadly' Cooking Segment on 'GMA' (VIDEO)

Foodie Alton Brown is a mad scientist in the kitchen. To prove that point, Brown creates avocado ice cream using a stand mixer and a canister of liquid nitrogen on 'Good Morning America' (weekdays, 7AM ET on ABC)....

In Defense Of: Anderson Cooper

I didn't realize that when I posted the Breaking News: Aaron Brown leaves CNN story that it would cause such an avalanche of comments. Right now we're at 174 comments (not counting the 64 comments on my Anderson Cooper vs. Aaron Brown post), and 99.9% of the posters are very much pro Aaron Brown. So I think it's about time someone stuck up for Mr. Cooper....

Coming December 21: A Very Special Bobby Brown Xmas

If you didn't get enough of Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston on their Bravo reality series Being Bobby Brown (whoever you are), then you're going to love the December 21 special, Christmas With The Browns. It will be just like the series, only with more tinsel. When they call this a "very special episode," I'm hoping they mean 30 minutes of blank screen....

Judge Joe Brown Has Fun With the Word 'Weenie' (VIDEO)

Joe Brown has entirely too much fun with a man's unfortunate surname on 'Judge Joe Brown' (weekdays, syndicated), using it over and over until he cracks himself up. Brown uses the man's surname, which is "Weenie," repeatedly until he breaks into laughter and has to pause to draw a breath. Real mature, Judge. Watch the video after the jump....

Skating with Celebrites coming to Fox

ABC, somehow, drew in big numbers when they aired Dancing with the Stars earlier this year. To be honest, I just couldn't bring myself to watch it, so I guess I shouldn't have an opinion. Now Fox wants to reap in those same viewers with a new show titled Skating with Celebrities (explanation unnecessary). Professional skaters will include Nancy Kerrigan, Kurt Browning, Tai Babilonia, Jenni Menno, Lloyd Eisler, and John Zimmerman, teaming up with the "celebrities" Dave Coulier, Todd Bridges, Deborah Gibson, Bruce Jenner, Kristy Swanson and Good Day LA Weathercaster Jillian Barberie. Judges will include Scott Hamilton and Dorothy Hamill, and viewers will have no say in the results at all. (Ed: Sorry for the Fox/ABC mixup)[via Cynopsis]...

Skating with Celebrities: Part 6 of 7

Part 6 of 7? You know what that means... we aren't going to find out who the winner is until Thursday next week. This episode was really a drag. And when I say "drag", I mean that they really dragged this one out to fill an entire hour without actually announcing the winners. The episode began with a recap of who got voted off when, and then all the skaters returned for encore performances. Todd Bridges is awkward and mechanical on the ice, reminding everybody why he was the first one to be booted off this competition. Kurt Browning is sporting a bald head? In the middle of the show all the teams resurrected previous routines that they skated, an element otherwise known as a time suck....
