Nate Escapes on 'Leverage' (VIDEO)

Most people who get thrown in jail want to get out as soon as possible. But that's not necessarily the case on the season premiere of 'Leverage' (Sun., 9PM ET on TNT). [Spoiler alert.]...

'Leverage' Christmas Episode Recap

['Leverage' - "The Ho, Ho, Ho Job"] Every December, our eyeballs are bombarded with holiday-themed episodes and specials. Usually, the only thing that is remotely special is a guy pretending to be Santa or some cranky curmudgeon learning the true meaning of Christmas. Bah humbag, how many times does a TV character have to learn that giving is better than getting before my TV realizes I already know that? 'Leverage' seemed to realize most of the pitfalls of turning their crew loose during the holidays with last Sunday's mid-season opener and did a good job of avoiding them, only to fall for the honey-baked ham dangling over the biggest hole of them all....

Tom Skerritt to Guest on 'Leverage'

He's already the paterfamilias of the Walker clan on 'Brothers & Sisters,' and now, 'Top Gun' and 'Picket Fences' star Tom Skerritt is about to finds out he has another baby boy in TV land: He'll play Jimmy Ford, the father of Timothy Hutton's Nate in TNT's 'Leverage.' The series, about a group of con men and women who work on behalf of those who've been wronged, begins its third season on June 20 (9PM ET), in its new Sunday-night timeslot. Skerritt is scheduled to pop up in the Aug. 8 episode, 'The Three-Card Monte Job,' in which he not only provides viewers with scoop on Nate's background, but ends up joining his son and Nate's cohorts on a job....

Leverage: The Home Coming Job

(S01E02) "The world doesn't work this way." --Dr. Laroque "Then change the world." --Nathan Ford Oh, I really do like this show. It looks like the fine folks behind Leverage are going to use this platform to "expose" the kinds of corporate corruption that we all know are there but may just not be able to prove. As established over the past several years, a lot of these bastards at the top of the corporate world are just as bad, if not worse, than the common street criminal. In fact, I'm going to go with worse. Tonight's target: Castleman, a company that provides a private "army" to the U.S. Government. You know, Blackwater. In keeping with the Robin Hood concept, the idea behind this heist is to ensure that PFC Dwight Caplan can get the rehab he needs to get out and start working. The kid's not looking for a handout, just a fare shake in life. And since it was Castleman, and not insurgent fire, who took that away from him, he's looking for justice. Which is what Leverage is all about....

TNT's Leverage teaser - VIDEOS

I've said it before, I'm a sucker for a series that casts actors from my favorite shows. It's really all it takes to get me to watch something at least once. I suppose that means I'm going to have to give Leverage at least a three episode run. Look at that cast photo. Christian Kane from Angel, Gina Bellman from Coupling, and Aldis Hodge from Friday Night Lights. And as a bonus, Timothy Hutton. That's a pretty good start. If that's not enough, one of the executive producers is John Rogers. TNT lists him as being from Cosby, but I remember him for writing and producing one of the best pilots that didn't go to series that I've ever seen, Global Frequency....

Review: Leverage - The Bottle Job

(S02E11) Leverage has the thankless task of walking one of the most difficult tightropes in television writing. How do you keep an audience interested in a show that they already know how it will end? The good guys always win and have so far for TNT's favorite scheming do-gooders. The show runners must have a whole bag of plot tricks and devices they use to keep the show interesting and last night's was one of the most interesting diversions to keep our minds off the fact that good is about to triumph evil....

TNT sets return date for Leverage

This morning some good news leaked out sooner than expected, although I don't think it was that big a surprise to learn that TNT is bringing Leverage back on Wednesday, January 13 at 10 p.m. Surprise news or not, it's still great to know that we have fresh episodes coming in early 2010. There are six episodes of Leverage left from season two, then the third season will commence in the summer. This set up is a lot like The Closer, and you know how well that split schedule has been working. By the way, you do know that split schedules is one of the things I'm most grateful about this holiday season, don't you?...

Review: Leverage - The Zanzibar Marketplace Job

(S02E12) "[Nathan's] drinking is not a problem. It's a symptom." - Eliot to Tara Action dramas don't have to be so layered. As long as the screen is filled with lots of explosions and tough guys with their backs to them, smirking at the camera as if to say, "Oh yeah, that's an explosion behind me and I caused it. I'm a badass, even if I would face federal charges for detonating an explosive device in a public area. So who out there wants to sleep with me?" Even though this week's Leverage had a couple of moments like that, it still managed to be more layered in both its plot and characters than it has a right to be....

Hey, Wil Wheaton's on Leverage tonight!

We here at TV Squad like Wil Wheaton. He starred on Star Trek: TNG and tons of movies and writes fun books and even wrote a great column for us at one point. Tonight he guest stars on Leverage, and as you can see from the clip below, he's in his natural habitat: sitting in front of a computer, typing. ...

Review: 'Leverage' - 'The Future Job'

(S02E13) "He who sells miracles will have the devil knocking at his door."/"What's that? A proverb?"/"A fortune cookie." - Alec to Parker Probably the most interesting aspect of 'Leverage', other than Parker's wonderful taste in form fitting dresses, is the way it manages to top itself in small areas. Not every episode is a home run in every category on the checklist, but it does find new ways to heighten the action, increase the twists and broaden their stories give or take an episode....

Leverage season two -- An early look

Watching an advance screening of the first episode of the second season of Leverage was a bit like seeing the Star Wars movies in numerical order. The small references make no sense and makes you feel like you're in a clubhouse that you haven't yet joined. The second season, starting this Wednesday at 9 PM ET on TNT, makes me wish I had all control over time and space so I could follow along with everyone else during the first season. That and so I could make a lot of money by predicting the outcomes of high stakes horse races with an all-knowing sports almanac from the future....

Leverage premiere scores five million viewers

The commercial-free premiere of TNT's new heist drama, Leverage, scored a hefty five million viewers last night. It didn't touch The Closer's insanely high numbers, but it'll do. Leverage delivered TNT's best ratings for the 18-49 demo for an original series aired during a regular broadcast season. That means we'll probably see a lot more of Timothy Hutton and crew gracing our tubes in 2009. Fans of good TV everywhere should be celebrating. I mostly tuned into Leverage to see Christian Kane, who I loved as the scheming Lindsey McDonald on Joss Whedon's Angel. Kane plays Eliot Spencer on Leverage, a dude who could make Jason Bourne cry "uncle!" with his amazing hand-to-hand combat skills. Kane was only one of the things I liked about this show. The entire cast was great, especially Hutton, and the whole A-Team meets Ocean's 11 thing really worked for me....

Another Star Trek actor joins TNT's Leverage

Being a nerd, I'm very familiar with Jeri Ryan's career. She helped make Star Trek: Voyager watchable for a while as a self-aware Borg and recently starred in CBS' Shark alongside James Woods. But it was her work on the David Kelley shows Boston Public and Boston Legal that has me thinking she'll be a good fit for Leverage. The actress handled Kelley's sharp dialogue like a pro, and I'm guessing she'll bring the same confidence to her role as a "smart-ass, street-wise con woman" on the second season of Leverage. Ryan has signed on for a recurring role on the TNT heist drama. Her character will be a friend of Sophie's (Gina Bellman), Leverage's sexy grifter with a bag full of tricks and foreign accents....

TNT Renews 'The Closer,' 'Leverage,' and 'Rizzoli and Isles'

To say TNT "knows drama" is an understatement. The cable network known for churning out fan-favorite crime dramas has just renewed three shows, including 'The Closer,' one of its biggest hits. Joining 'The Closer' in renewal is 'Leverage' and the freshman drama 'Rizzoli & Isles.' 'The Closer' and 'Leverage' received a 15-episode order each, 'Rizzoli & Isles' was picked up for 13. "TNT has enjoyed tremendous success on Sunday and Monday nights with 'Leverage,' 'The Closer' and 'Rizzoli & Isles,'" Michael Wright, executive vice president and head of programming for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies, said in a statement. "All three shows feature terrific casts, sharp writing and top-notch production teams. We look forward to continued success with new seasons in 2011."...
