Benjamin McKenzie Interview for 'Southland'

"If they want to watch Ryan Atwood on 'Southland,' then please do. If that gets you over there ... whatever it takes, baby!" Fans went ga-ga over him as brooding Ryan Atwood on 'The O.C.,' and now Ben McKenzie has graduated to a more mature TV role. But no worries, ladies -- he's still very much a swoon-worthy heartthrob. On NBC's 'Southland' (premieres Thurs., April 9 at 10 PM ET), McKenzie plays rookie LAPD officer Ben Sherman. He's surrounded by seasoned cops and passionate detectives, all determined to catch the city's most violent criminals, solve crimes and console victims' families ... all while keeping their personal lives intact. McKenzie talked to AOL TV exclusively about having his face on billboards again and trying to shake -- but also embrace -- being seen as Ryan Atwood, and tells us how he's like a big kid on this show ... and why it'll be the next 'ER.' -- By Maggie Furlong BEN McKENZIE Q&A...

The OC: The Gringos

(S04E02) After last week's outstanding season premiere, I had very high hopes for this episode. With last season still fresh in my mind, The OC did something I'm not entirely used to -- it delivered. Picking up right where we left off, Ryan is dead set on finding Volchok and gutting him. It's all he wants, all he thinks about. It's great to have some serious moral conflict in this show instead of all the "Will Seth pick Anna or Summer" or "Uh oh, Marissa got drunk again" drivel that got fed to us last season. This is the side of Ryan we never fully saw. It's what left him the second he became a part of the Cohen family in the pilot episode. Well, newsflash. Ryan Atwood? Extreme badass....

Susan Sarandon Joins 'Miraculous Year'

HBO's 'The Miraculous Year' is piling on an already star-studded cast, adding Susan Sarandon, according to EW.com's The Ausiello Files. Sarandon will play Patty Atwood, the "director/choreographer of the play-within-the-show." The actress is no stranger to television, having made a guest appearance on 'ER' last year, and has appeared on 'Rescue Me.' Earlier this month, Lee Pace ('Pushing Daisies') and Linus Roache ('Law & Order') were added to the cast, joining Hope Davis, Frank Langella, Patti LuPone, and Tony winner Eddie Redmayne. Norbert Leo Butz plays the self-destructive Broadway composer at the heart of the story....

Margaret Cho signs deal with FOX

Does anyone remember Margaret Cho's mid-90s ABC sitcom All-American Girl? I watched it, and Cho talks about the show a lot in her memoir, I'm The One That I Want. How ABC wanted her to lose weight, how they wanted the show "less Korean," how it almost destroyed her health and sanity. But Cho is ready to jump back into the world of sitcoms, as she's signed a deal with FOX to star in and produce another comedy....

Margaret Cho is Useless as 'Millionaire' Expert (VIDEO)

As an expert on 'Who Wants to Be a Millionaire,' Margaret Cho leaves a lot to be desired. A contestant uses her "Ask the Expert" lifeline on a question about tennis, but Cho knows nothing about sports and is mystified....

The OC: The Shape of Things to Come

Last night, I rehung my "I Love Ryan Atwood" poster over my bed. This poster doesn't actually exist physically, but it does in my heart. During season two I'd taken the metaphorical poster down. I'd ripped it down in fact. I threw it on the ground and did a dance of anger on it. Why? Because, quite frankly, season two of The OC sucked. But last night, I picked the poster off the ground, smoothed it out, and scotched taped it back up on the wall. Only two weeks into the new season and already things are feeling like the first triumphant season. Mostly because, last night...Ryan punched somebody. He made their nose bleed. I am a firm believer that it's not an episode of The OC, unless Ryan punches somebody. Unless there's a fight and an extravagant party, then it's just a rejected episode of Dawson's Creek, as far as I'm concerned....

'Arrested Development's' David Cross Returns on the Premiere of 'Todd Margaret' (VIDEO)

Fans of the cult sitcom 'Arrested Development' have been waiting years for a long-rumored film version of the show. But until that movie happens (if it ever does), 'AD' lovers will have to content themselves with the new series 'The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret' (Fri., 10PM ET on IFC). The new comedy reunites David Cross and Will Arnett -- also known as Tobias Fünke and Gob Bluth on the late, lamented 'Arrested Development.' But 'Todd Margaret' shows off Cross as an entirely different character. (Arnett, on the other hand, acts like the same dude that he always plays -- not that there's anything wrong with that.) Now, we'll have to see if the pair can resurrect their old comedy magic. [Warning: Spoiler alert.]...

'Chelsea Lately' Audience Is Sad for Margaret Cho (VIDEO)

The audience of 'Chelsea Lately' (weeknights, 11PM ET on E!) seemed to feel bad for Margaret Cho. When she admitted to no longer smoking marijuana, there was a collective "Aww" of sympathy and disappointment. "I just, um, couldn't get high anymore," the comedienne explained. "All that happens is you can see your eyelashes." And it was the strong medical-marijuana stuff, too -- "Heaven's Gate weed" Cho called it. "Just put on your Nikes and wait for the spaceship." She tried a marijuana lollipop too, to no avail....

Nucky and Margaret Discuss the Plot Against Him on 'Boardwalk Empire' (VIDEO)

This week on 'Boardwalk Empire' (Sun., 9PM ET on HBO) Nucky Thompson (Steve Buscemi) comes to the harsh realization that several members of his inner circle have betrayed him. As he ponders recent events, feeling isolated, Nucky fills Margaret in on his affairs in a way he hasn't before. When Margaret (Kelly MacDonald) asks, "Who is against you?" he replies "All of them ... " before listing his new enemies off one by one. Happily for Nucky, Margaret has a core of pure steel, and as she comes to his aid in his current predicament she shows herself to be far removed from the downtrodden and abused wife she was at the beginning of Season 1....

Margaret Thatcher's daughter wins reality show

Carol Thatcher won a British reality show called I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! She's a 52-year-old journalist, but also the daughter of former prime minister, Margaret Thatcher. The daughter had to do all sorts of things like eat fish eyes and parachute into the jungle, during which she threw up on herself. She was also caught on camera peeing next to her bed at camp. But, the public loved her! While nine other former pop stars and soap opera actors were voted off by viewers, Thatcher remained on the show. She said her mother didn't even know she took part in the reality series. You may remember, there was an American version of this show on ABC that had "Downtown" Julie Brown and Melissa Rivers. A guy named Cris Judd won the American version, apparently he's a celebrity because he was married to J.Lo....

Barbara Walters Mistakenly Calls Margaret Cho 'Gay' on 'The View' (VIDEO)

Oops! Even long-time broadcast journalists sometimes get their facts wrong. On 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated), Barbara Walters mistakenly referred to 'Dancing With the Stars' contestant Margaret Cho as "openly gay" because of her recent comments about gay suicide prevention on 'DWTS.'...

Louis van Amstel: Margaret Cho's Gay Pride Message Doomed Us

When Louis van Amstel and his celebrity partner Margaret Cho were eliminated from 'Dancing With the Stars,' he said he "had a breakdown the next day." "I felt horrible," the Amsterdam-born ballroom champ and choreographer tells PopEater. He also said he knew that when their samba was linked to gay pride, they were doomed. Viewers will recall that judge Bruno Tonioli complimented Cho on her gay pride rainbow dress, and judge Carrie Ann Inaba chimed in that the show had gone gay, with Cho declaring it the gayest thing that's ever happened on 'Dancing.' "That was not the story we planned to tell," van Amstel said. "That was not my message. Maybe it was Margaret's message, but not mine. The minute it was about gay pride, I knew we were gone."...

On the 'DWTS' Scene: Margaret Cho 'Proud' to Speak Out Against Bullying

Sadly, Margaret Cho is not the one that they want. Low-scoring duo Margaret Cho and Louis Van Amstel were voted off 'Dancing With the Stars' last night. However, the comedienne felt she achieved a victory in her short time on the show by voicing her support of at-risk gay youths on national television. "I'm so proud of our dance and that we got to tell our message," Cho told TV Squad immediately after Tuesday night's results "I'm excited we got to wear the rainbow colors and dance about pride. I was honored to be on the show. I had a great time. I'm going to miss hanging out here, watching everyone and the camaraderie." Cho, who incorporates self-esteem into her stand-up, explained that being told she was a heavy ballerina as a child stuck with her -- and it shouldn't have. "We should never give anyone that power," she said. "That's why I want to reach out to all kids who've been bullied and have been made to feel badly about themselves."...
