'Survivor,' 'Amazing Race' Renewed

Fans of 'Survivor' can breathe a little easier today, as CBS announced they have renewed the pioneering reality series for two more record-breaking seasons. But will Jeff Probst still be around to see it? Or has his torch been snuffed out? On 'Survivor,' of course, fire represents life, and if that's the case then the producers of 'Survivor' are likely to suffer spontaneous combustion today, because it turns out there's still plenty of kick left in the series: Despite uncertainty over Probst's contract (he is currently unsigned past the upcoming 'Heroes vs. Villains' series, which debuts on February 11), Entertainment Weekly is reporting that the network has given the go-ahead for the show's 21st and 22nd seasons....

'Survivor': Where Are They Now?

It's been 10 years since 'Survivor' first premiered on May 31, 2000 and proceeded to captivate the country over the course of that summer. And, in the end, nearly 59 million people watched the finale -- and Richard Hatch win the $1 million prize. So, after 10 years and 20 seasons, let's catch up with the contestants who tried to outwit, outplay and outlast ......

Review: 'Surviving Survivor'

Whetting our appetites for next week's 'Survivor: Heroes Vs. Villains' season premiere, this evening's 'Surviving Survivor' was definitely an hour worth watching for any true fan of the show. So often clips shows tend to tread the trodden path, but not so much with this one. The focus wasn't merely on the castaways we'll see in the upcoming season, but a look back at the show's history and a peek at what's happening in the lives of some of our favorite 'Survivors' over the years. I've watched since the first season, and it brought back memories of the phenomenon that was 'Survivor: Borneo.' Fifty-two million viewers, extreme watercooler chat, and the start of the reality competition genre....

After 39 days in the wilderness, after living through fire and rain, after the players survived stolen food and even survived NaOnka -- it was time to declare a winner on 'Survivor: Nicaragua' (Sun., 8PM ET on CBS). 'Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains' - ' Survivor History' Recap

(S20E09) Oh my. JT looks a bit disturbed in this image from tonight's 'Survivor,' doesn't he? Did he crack another tooth? Not to be posting spoilers in the first paragraph, but I don't think we'll see JT cracking teeth and being a one-man war machine this season. We've seen his whacked-out game strategy for the season already. He went from the nice guy, loved and admired by all, and winner of his original season to ... I don't know. His own tribe doesn't trust him to the point of Amanda declaring him the "slimiest" person on the tribe last week. He's flipped, he's flopped. But tonight he has an epiphany and a brilliant idea. We'll see just how brilliant it is soon enough....

Problems on the set of the next Survivor

They haven't even begun filming yet and already there are problems on the set of the next Survivor. Production on Survivor: Gabon, which starts filming later this month, has been hit with several problems during preproduction. Problem #1: shipments to the location have been delayed by 30 days. This means that the crew has to stay in tents and not a building. Problem #2: a crane fell over. Problem #3: $100,000 of food has gone missing. And Problem #4: dangerous animals are causing a problem....

Survivor and Big Brother are casting

CBS is looking for contestants for two of their biggest reality shows. Season 19 of Survivor had an original application deadline of January 14, but it seems as though there aren't enough quality people applying. They are hoping to fill both casts of Season 19 and Season 20. If roughing it isn't your style, consider being in a house without entertainment. Big Brother 11 is casting for the summer season. Sure the prize is only $500,000, but you won't come home with any stomach viruses. Casting on both shows have been hit or miss. In Survivor: Tocantins, 12 of the 16 contestants were recruited. This includes the latest castoff, Sydney who was recruited from a bar....

Survivor's sexy swimsuit calendar

Forget about Sports Illustrated ... Survivor has its own sexy swimsuit calendar widget made just for you! It's actually kind of neat. In addition to exposing the hunks and hunkettes from the latest season, there are show facts, important dates, links to YouTube promo videos, and more. Somehow they even made Joel look more like a hunk than a Hulk and that's not an easy task! ...

Everyone Loves the 'Survivor' Guys

On the 'Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains' reunion show on Sunday, Jeff Probst showed a composite photo of what a 'Survivor' winner looks like, meant to show that the show's winners are a diverse bunch -- old, young, male, female, white, black, Latino, mean, nice, crazy and sane. The winners, maybe. But the fan favorites are a different story. What Russell Hantz said on the reunion show is true: if America chose the winners, that composite photo would likely be wearing a fedora and a tie-dyed tank top. When it comes to the most popular players on 'Survivor', there is definitely a type. They are straight-talkers who like to tell the other players exactly what they plan to do. They have a strict code, whether it's all-about-me or do-unto-others. They are usually very talkative and end up functioning as narrators of the show through their interviews. And oh yeah, they are men. In fact, other than a tendency to run their mouths, it's about the only thing they have in common....

Live Survivor chat location

As Keith told you this morning, we're going to be starting a new live chat for the new season of Survivor: Exile Island.  I don't think they've hyped  a new season of the grandaddy of reality shows like this in quite some time. Four teams! Exile Island! Jeff Probst stripping! Ok, so that last one is a lie, but if it would get more viewers to tune in, I bet CBS would throw the money his way. Just what are all these new exciting twists, and will they actually impact how the game is played? Tune in with me tonight and find out; I'll be in there under the id of TVSRyan and I'm sure a couple of the other TV Squaders will be joining us, so stop on by, we'll just be trying to survive until you get there. Here is the secret location for our Survivor Chat! See you inside. Disclaimer: All or parts of the discussion in this chatroom may be posted in a later column on this site....

Randy's 'Survivor' Exit Interview

After two demoralizing defeats, the sun finally shined (even though it was raining) on 'Survivor''s good guys last night. The "Heroes" shut out the "Villains" in a particularly physical "sumo-style" rock 'em sock 'em robots-type challenge -- replete with ooey-gooey mud. The Heroes delighted in tossing meanie after meanie into the muck and when it came down to the last pair, Randy vs. James, the contest became almost laughable. A nano-second after Jeff's "Go!" Randy was neck deep in mud and he'd barely have time to wash it off before his tribe -- seemingly under Parvati's flirty spell -- snuffed the torch he'd just gotten to light. (Randy's rebuttal? Tossing the buff into the fire on his way out. Effigy. Nice touch.) Does the 50-year-old Texan think he got the boot just because he doesn't have a "pretty smile and a nice wiggle" like the girls on his tribe? Yup. Is he happy about it? We're guessing not. Did he have the patience to respond to our notoriously goofy questions? Have a look ......

Can Taj win Survivor?

Back in January, I read articles mentioning that a member of 90's pop group SWV was going to be on Survivor: Tocantins. Taj George, former pop star, author, and wife of famous NFL footballer Eddie George was cast without any bells or whistles. I was nervous seeing how ... well Olympian Crystal Cox did in Survivor: Gabon, but decided to give Taj a shot since she was involved in one of my favorite songs: "Weak." I was happy to see that she didn't degrade herself to Celebreality shows or I'm A Celebrity, Get me Out of Here! Fast forward several weeks, and Taj is part of the final six and still has a shot at winning the money. At the moment, Taj's best bets of making it to the final four is to keep with her alliance of J.T., Stephen, and Erinn. If Taj was smart, after getting rid of Coach, she should form a women's alliance with Erinn and Debbie and get rid of J.T. and Stephen. I thought of a few other strategic moves that Taj should make to win Survivor: Tocantins....

Sugar's 'Survivor' Exit Interview

The 20th season of 'Survivor' is underway -- this time with a twist. We've heard the spiel; 20 of our favorite players -- 10 beloved heroes vs. 10 notorious villains -- each vying to win a million bucks (some of them for the second or third time). Last night saw evil trounce good as the 'Heroes' had their butts kicked in the first immunity challenge. At tribal council, they voted to send sweet Sugar, whose stealth play in Gabon propelled her to third place, packing. What does the L.A. based pin-up model have to say about her about her fellow castmates (and a bunch of random other stuff)? Take a gander at her answrers to our oh-so-had-hitting questions and find out ......
