This culinary competition series pits 16 chefs -- eight British and eight American -- against one another in a race across the United States. At the end of the competition, the winning chef takes home the $100,000 grand prize. At the beginning of the race, at the Santa Monica Pier in Los Angeles, the chefs are stripped of their cash and credit cards and tasked with using their culinary skills and business savvy to avoid the weekly eliminations. During the coast-to-coast journey to New York -- which includes stops in Albuquerque, N.M., St. Louis and Baltimore -- the contestants, who work as teams in the challenges, must make a living using their cooking skills, ingenuity and leadership to make it to the next destination. The team with the most profit in each challenge moves on while members of the losing team face a cook-off, after which someone is eliminated. Claire Robinson co-hosts with Michelin star chef Richard Corrigan, who also serves as a mentor and judge.
