Chef and Baltimore native John Shields pursues his passion for coastal cuisine in this 13-episode series. Starting with the coast of California, Shields explores the Monterey Bay area and prepares seafood with the Two Hot Tamales. In Miami he taps the expertise of regional chef Michelle Bernstein, and in the Pacific Northwest he visits with chef Ian Jeffards. Other regions featured include the Maryland and Carolina coasts, as well as the waterways of Louisiana and Cape Cod. Each episode features three recipes plus an easy-to-prepare snack, and serves up useful information on everything from from sustainable fishing to how to find the perfect oysters. Along the way he gets help and hints from other regional experts such as Nathalie Dupree, Susan Spicer and Charles Phan.
