DESCRIPTION
Hawaii Life Flight is an air ambulatory service for the Hawaiian Islands. Its crew faces traumatic medical cases, dramatic weather conditions and additional environmental dangers as they respond to life-threatening medical emergencies -- from severe car crashes to massive heart attacks -- throughout the world's most remote island chain. Gale-force winds, hurricanes and tsunamis present weather challenges for the crew, and even if the weather isn't dangerous, rogue waves, rip currents and other natural hazards can deter rescue missions. When every second counts for patients in need, anything that delays the crew can result in fatalities.
