The town of Aldergrove, B.C., is facing financial ruin under the crushing weight of debt and overspending. ``Million Dollar Makeover'' combines reality TV with social experimentation to give the community a chance to work together in order to raise its net worth by $1 million -- in 10 weeks. Each week, hosts Bruce Sellery, a financial adviser, and clinical psychologist Dr. Joti Samra present the citizens with two challenges: one for the community as a whole, and another for each individual family. To reach the million-dollar goal, the net worth of each of the 100 families must increase by $1,000 every week. If they make it, the neighbours will choose one deserving family at the end of the 10 weeks to be awarded a bonus prize of $100,000.
