In this kid-friendly spinoff of ``Doctor Who,'' investigative journalist Sarah Jane Smith, The Doctor's former traveling companion, uses her wits and some highly advanced technology to keep Earth safe from extraterrestrial intruders, assisted by her adopted (and genetically engineered) son, Luke, and her teenage neighbor, Maria Jackson.
