Another group of world-class chefs participates in a series of eliminations in this reality competition series. Each episode involves two challenges -- the Quickfire Challenge, which tests the chefs' basic skills, and the Elimination Challenge, which involves unique or exotic ingredients or particularly demanding clients. The Elimination Challenge tests competitors' creativity and the results are judged by both the judges and a range of tasters for whom the food is intended (hungry children, patrons of a five-star restaurant, etc.) The cuisine must appeal to both if the chef is to continue in the competition. Ultimately just one ``Top Chef Master'' is left standing in the kitchen. The charity chosen by the winning chef gets a $100,000 gift.
