Coming soon to Spike TV: an original late-night talk show, new episodes of '1000 Ways to Die' and reality shows on hardcore little wrestlers and Brooklyn "scrappers."According to a network press release, the chat fest will be outside of the traditional late-night zone. Instead of stars promoting flicks, it will spotlight ordinary people in extraordinary situations, such as a "convenience store clerk who defended himself against would-be criminals or a former stock broker who quit his job to join the Green Berets in Afghanistan." The is said to be "manformation" for the "true guys' guy," according to network Senior Vice President Sharon Levy. Hosts are still to be named.
Spike TV announces pick-up of 1,000 Ways to Die
by Kristin Sample, posted Aug 3rd 2008 12:02PM
Spike TV has picked up the original, non-scripted series 1,000 Ways to Die. The title of the show says it all -- it just chronicles the many ways people leave this world. It's from Thom Beers, the same guy who produced Ice Road Truckers, The Deadliest Catch, and Ax-Men. There seems to be a theme with Beers's shows, don't you think? The show was originally a two-part special that aired in May on Spike. It performed so well that the network has order ten 30-minute episodes.TV Squad Hot Topics
