Animation news: 12 Oz Mouse returns, and Hanna Barbera on iTunes
Here's a couple bits of animation news:
Early this year I told you 12 Oz Mouse would be returning with new Web-only episodes. Well the first one is online over on Adult Swim, so check it out.
I was indifferent to 12 Oz Mouse at first, but after finally watching the episodes in order and becoming immersed in its odd little world, it quickly became one of my favorite Adult Swim series. It's nice to see it back in any form.
If the surreal post-modern weirdness of 12 Oz Mouse isn't your thing, you can always check out some new Hanna Barbera cartoons that were recently added to iTunes. The new store includes episodes of Scooby-Doo, The Jetsons, Huckleberry Hound, The Flintstones and Yogi Bear.
Best and Worst of 2006: Adam's list
You want a my personal picks for the best TV stuff of 2006? Sure, no problem. You also want my personal picks for the worst TV offered in 2006? Well, that's somewhat of a challenge. If I don't like something, I don't watch it, but I agreed to list my favorite and least favorite things about TV, so let's get the negative stuff out of the way first.
12 oz. Mouse -- I've been converted
I've said it here many times, and I'll say it again. I would much rather have Adult Swim offer a variety of choices even if that means some of the shows don't turn me on personally, as opposed to only offering programs I enjoy. Furthermore, Adult Swim does what many networks don't do, which is allow shows time to find an audience. Sometimes this works and sometimes it doesn't, but the end result is more choices, and that's never a bad thing.
12 oz. Mouse is coming back
12 oz. Mouse, Adult Swim's cartoon about a poorly-drawn drunken mouse and his adventures with various pieces of clip art is coming back for a second season. The season kicks off on September 17, though as of this writing the actually airtime is unspecified. Quite honestly, I never knew what to make of 12 oz. Mouse. Some programs I love, others I hate, and then there are those like 12 oz. Mouse I could just never form a definite opinion on. I dug the humor just fine, but found the pacing to be too slow to my liking, and the minimalist quality of the show, which I would normally find endearing, just didn't turn me on. Is anyone out there excited about this show coming back?Adult Swim: What's coming and what's staying
Adult Swim has announced some new shows that will be coming down the
pike later this year, as well as some of the old standbys that'll be returning. Here's the rundown:
First off, we have Brendon Small's (Home Movies) new series about a heavy metal band, whose official name is now apparently Death Clock Metalocalypse.
The team who created Sealab 2021 is also returning with a new show called Frisky Dingo, about a super hero and a super criminal who aren't always that intrested in fighting one another.
