The Original 'Teen Mom' Is Back Tonight, Thank Goodness

by Jean Bentley, posted Jul 5th 2011 1:20PM
Teen MomMTV's original 'Teen Mom' cast returns to the network tonight with the premiere of the third season of its '16 and Pregnant' spinoff reality show.

Although we've seen two more half-seasons of '16 and Pregnant' and an all-new group of mothers in 'Teen Mom 2,' the last time we watched Farrah, Maci, Amber and Catelynn and their parenting exploits was way back in October of 2010.

In the intervening nine months, it's become clearer and clearer how much MTV needs them back. Though the network likely hoped to capture 'Teen Mom''s success with a second group of girls, they just weren't as appealing.

Kayla's Mom Apologizes For Neglecting Her on the '16 and Pregnant' Reunion Show (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Jun 29th 2011 5:45PM
Kayla and Dr. Drew on '16 and Pregnant'Tuesday's season finale of '16 and Pregnant' (Tuesdays, 10pm on MTV) took a look back at some of the young girls and their families from season three, including an emotional interview with Kayla and her mother. Kayla said her mother neglected her, paying more attention to her boyfriend and ignoring her during her time of need.

"There was a point where she moved away from all of us kids, and that was hard," said Kayla. "It was so easy for her to pick up and leave." Kayla also said her mother left her in the apartment with no heat while she spent the night with her boyfriend, telling Kayla to get a hotel.

Jairo Has Been Lying to Izabella's Family About Taking Classes on '16 and Pregnant' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jun 1st 2011 5:57AM
Jairo, '16 and Pregnant'Trust is an important thing, and while it's admirable that Jairo finally confessed to Izabella's family that he'd been lying to them on '16 and Pregnant' (Wed., 10PM ET on MTV), it may be worse what he was lying about.

"I have been telling you that I am doing my high school online when I really haven't been doing it," he confessed. "And I do feel guilty that I've been lying to you."

Izabella's father laid into him about the importance of trust and how he needs to push himself forward to prove himself worthy to be with their daughter. But to his own daughter he had a more sobering reality check.

'Teen Mom 2' Stars Leah Messer and Corey Simms File for Divorce

by PopEater Staff, posted Apr 18th 2011 11:00AM
Leah Messer, Teen Mom 2Although MTV just aired the wedding of 'Teen Mom 2' stars Leah Messer and Corey Simms a few weeks ago, according to UsMagazine.com, Messer has filed for divorce from the father of her twin girls just six months after their wedding.

Though Messer, 18, and Corey Simms, 20, ended the 'Teen Mom 2' season with a wedding celebration and then spoke about it at a reunion special, things haven't always been easy for the young couple, who found out they were expecting twins after just one month of dating.

"Everything Corey and I have done has happened so fast," Messer told Us recently. The pair have had a rocky relationship, including breaking up even after their daughters, Aliannah and Aleeah, now 16 months, were born.

The pair reconciled, got engaged and married last October, all in front of the MTV cameras. However, Messer expressed some concern that they were moving too quickly.

Watch a Trailer for the New Season of MTV's '16 and Pregnant'

by Jean Bentley, posted Apr 13th 2011 3:30PM
16 and PregnantA new season of MTV's '16 and Pregnant' starts next week, and with it comes the stories of 10 new teenage girls entering motherhood.

The girls' lives are much more complicated this time around (if that's even possible). One girl finds out she's having a set of twin boys, and the father appears to be much less supportive than 'Teen Mom 2''s Corey (and ultimately gets arrested in a roadside domestic argument). A recovering anorexic struggles with accepting her pregnant body.

After the jump, watch a trailer for the new season, which premieres April 19 at 10PM ET, then share your thoughts.

What Did You Think of 'No Easy Decision,' MTV's Abortion Special?

by Jean Bentley, posted Dec 29th 2010 2:30PM
'No Easy Decision'Last night, MTV aired a half-hour, commercial-free special called 'No Easy Decision,' which chronicled former '16 and Pregnant' subject Markai as she weighed her options after becoming pregnant for a second time -- keep the child, put the baby up for adoption, or have an abortion -- and ultimately decided to terminate the pregnancy.

The first 20 minutes of the special followed Markai as she talked her options over with her boyfriend, James, got information from a clinic on the different types of procedures available, and finally chose to end the pregnancy. A short chat with Dr. Drew followed, then a discussion with two other women who talked about why they chose abortion.

On '16 and Pregnant,' Ashley Is Reunited With the Baby That She Gave Away (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Dec 29th 2010 3:09AM
On '16 and Pregnant,' Ashley Is Reunited With the Baby That She Gave Away When you're pregnant and have just entered your teenage years, all choices must seem like hard choices. And on '16 and Pregnant,' high school senior Ashley Salazar has to deal with the consequences of her choice.

Ashley lives in a suburb of Dallas, Texas. She has dreams of moving to Manhattan and becoming a photojournalist. But those dreams changed, once Ashley became pregnant at sixteen. Justin, her ex-boyfriend, didn't stick around -- so Ashley made the hard decision to give up her daughter Callie for adoption.

On the new episode (Tue., 10PM ET on MTV), Ashley got to hold her daughter for the first time in months. After giving birth, Ashley gave up Callie, letting her aunt and uncle care for the child. She went on to pursue her dreams of attending college in New York City. But did Ashley make the right choice? And was there ever a one hundred percent "right" choice for the teen to make?

Could '16 and Pregnant' Help Prevent Teen Pregnancy?

by Jean Bentley, posted Dec 23rd 2010 2:00PM
'16 and Pregnant'One of the biggest criticisms from opponents of MTV's docu-series '16 and Pregnant,' which follows high school-age girls as they prepare to become mothers, is that it glamorizes teen pregnancy. But according to a new theory from the Christian Science Monitor, the show is actually doing the exact opposite.

A new report from the National Campaign notes that although teens view parental influence as the number one factor in preventing teen pregnancy, an astonishing 82 percent say '16 and Pregnant' "helps them better understand the challenges of teen pregnancy and parenthood -- and why they should avoid it."

"Entertainment media is one of the nation's favorite punching bags, but we have to acknowledge that when we're talking about teen pregnancies media can be and often is a force for good," said Bill Albert, a spokesman for the National Campaign.
