Katie Couric Takes a Trip Down Memory Lane With Regis Philbin (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 18th 2011 3:00AM
If there was one thing you could take from Katie Couric's little video trip down memory lane with Regis Philbin on 'A Special Edition of 20/20' (Thu., 8PM ET on ABC) honoring his retirement, it might be that she seems to have a bit of a crush on him.She spotlighted a video of him stripping down to a speedo and dancing with other male dancers. Another had him taking his shirt off, to which he retorted, "See what age does to you!"
"I think you look pretty good," Couric told him. And then, when a clip of him kissing Alicia Keys played, Couric said she was a bit jealous.
Diane Sawyer Interviews Gabrielle Giffords About Returning to Washington (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 15th 2011 3:00AM
After surviving a shooting rampage in January, Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords sat down with her husband Mark Kelly for an interview with Diane Sawyer on '20/20' (Mon., 10PM ET on ABC). While she's made remarkable progress, and looked happy and confident, it was clear that Giffords still has a long way to go.While her mind clearly knows how she'd have liked to respond to Sawyer's questions, often those responses came in short phrases or repeated words. The word she attributed to her husband Mark, who's been by her side every day, was "brave." He, however, turned the word right back around, attributing it to her.

Charlie Sheen Gets ABC Great Ratings, Christina Aguilera Named Third Coach on 'The Voice' and More
by Joel Keller, posted Mar 2nd 2011 4:00PM
Even if ABC waited too long to air their complete Charlie Sheen interview on last night's special '20/20,' as I speculated yesterday, it didn't seem to matter all that much.According to Deadline.com, ABC won the Tuesday at 10PM timeslot in the 18–49 demo, attracting 9.5 million viewers. '20/20' almost doubled the rating of its lead-in, 'V,' and it gave the Alphabet net its best ratings in that time slot in two years.
Are we ever going to tire of Charlie Sheen mania? Probably. But for now, Sheen continues to be "Winning!", as he is saying on Twitter and all over the media landscape. And now that he's had his twin boys taken away from him, the story doesn't seem like it'll go away anytime soon.

• Christina Aguilera joins Cee Lo Green and Adam Levine as a coach on NBC's 'The Voice.' The series premieres on April 26. Hopefully, Aguilera's current legal problems won't interfere with the taping of the show. [NBC]
Charlie Sheen '20/20' Interview: 'I'm Bi-Winning!' (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Mar 2nd 2011 9:33AM
Not content to just allow Charlie Sheen to ramble on unanalyzed, '20/20' (Tue., 10PM ET on ABC) brought in a behavioral expert to analyze their interview with the actor to see if there's any merit to the theories circulating that he may suffer from bipolar disorder. When asked directly about it, Sheen responded, "And then what? What's the cure? Medicine? Make me like them? Not going to happen."
He then broke it down further, denying the possiblity because it usually involves up and down swings. "I'm bi-winning. I win here and I win there," he said. "Now what? If I'm bipolar, aren't there moments where a guy like crashes in the corner like, 'Oh my god, it's all my mom's fault!'"
Did ABC Wait Too Long to Air Their Charlie Sheen Interview?
by Joel Keller, posted Mar 1st 2011 12:00PM

At some point on Saturday evening, the folks at ABC News must have been feeling very proud of themselves.
Andrea Canning had just spent the day with Charlie Sheen, the first television reporter to do an extensive video with the actor since he let loose with various tirades on the radio and TMZ, causing CBS and the producers of 'Two and a Half Men' to shut things down for the season. ABC made the big announcement, calling it 'The First Interview,' and planned to debut it on 'Good Morning America' this morning, followed by a big splashy '20/20' special tonight.
It may have been the first television interview Sheen gave, but it sure as heck wouldn't be the last.
The folks at the Alphabet Net got scooped, then scooped again, and then scooped yet again. But the way the network has been reacting to these scoops makes us wonder if they think that it's still 1991 instead of 2011.
Diane Sawyer's Interview With Capt. Mark Kelly to Air Tuesday on ABC
by Catherine Lawson, posted Jan 17th 2011 8:42AM
ABC will air the first interview with Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords' husband, astronaut Capt. Mark Kelly, since the Tucson shootings. The interview will form a special edition of '20/20' -- 'The Congresswoman and the Astronaut: An American Story of Love and Strength' -- on Tuesday night.
According to ABC News, Sawyer sat down with Kelly over the weekend at the hospital where his wife is being treated after being shot in the brain. He opened up about the "extraordinary progress" she's making every day, and he even said that he'd be willing to meet with the parents of accused shooter, Jared Loughner.
A Superhuman on '20/20' (VIDEO)
by Oliver Miller, posted Jun 2nd 2010 3:50AM
31-year old Daniel Tammet seems like a normal man. But beneath his unimposing exterior there lies an extraordinary human being.Daniel is an autistic savant. Which basically means that he's amazingly gifted in certain areas, but has trouble recognizing his own gifts. Daniel also has synesthesia -- which means that he combines his senses in ways that most people cannot.
'20/20' (Tue., 10PM ET on ABC) examines Daniel as part of the show's "superhuman" series. During the course of the show, Daniel displays his incredible gifts in a shockingly offhand way. He is capable, for instance, of reciting the number "Pi" (an infinite number) from memory, without a mistake -- for five hours and nine minutes.
And even though Daniel already speaks eight languages fluently, he also manages to master the Icelandic language in a single week. Incredible! We are speechless. If you're not impressed, then maybe you should try learning a new language in seven days sometime -- it's hard, we promise you.
Do They Really Have Sex on 'The Bachelor'? (VIDEO)
by Jane Boursaw, posted Mar 16th 2010 2:26AM
It's that question burning a hole in everyone's mind. Do the guys and girls on 'The Bachelor' really have sex? In a word, yes, as we learned on '20/20' ( Mon., 8PM ET on ABC).But, really, it's not like that's a big shocker. A guy and a girl. Skimpy outfits. Champagne. Steamy hot tub ... um, no, they just look longingly at each other and call it good.
And who had the most sex out of all the bachelors? That would be Bob Guiney, who bedded down five and a half women. Wait, what? Five and a half?

George Clooney's Bad Hair Days on '20/20' (VIDEO)
by Jane Boursaw, posted Mar 3rd 2010 4:35AM
George Clooney had some dorky looks growing up, and we got to see a lot of them on '20/20: Before They Were Famous' (Tue., 10PM ET on ABC). He suffered with a bout of Bells palsy as a kid, so we won't comment on the crooked smile (even though it's kind of cute). But if you look at his career from 'Rosanne' to 'Baby Talk' to 'E/R' (not the popular one; the 1984 sitcom), this dude had some baaaaadddd hair days.
But my how things have changed. Some people just get better looking as they get older, and Clooney definitely falls into that category.

March 2010 Premiere Dates And Finales
by Jason Hughes, posted Feb 27th 2010 10:00AM

Now that Olympic fever has subsided, it's time to look ahead to a March filled with many returning favorites, including ABC's 'Dancing with the Stars,' NBC's 'The Apprentice,' and Comedy Central's bad boys of 'South Park.' The month also offers both 'The 82nd Annual Academy Awards' on ABC and NCAA Basketball's "March Madness" on CBS.
March kicks off with one of the most controversial premieres of the year. After a dismal performance in primetime, Jay Leno returns to 'The Tonight Show' (Mon., March 1 at 11:35PM on NBC) desk he temporarily vacated for Conan O'Brien. Make sure you don't miss a moment of the biggest premieres and finales in March.

Whoopi Criticizes Jenny Sanford, Calls Her 'Dumb' (VIDEO)
by Donald Deane, posted Feb 4th 2010 4:30PM
After watching a preview of an upcoming '20/20' interview with Jenny Sanford on 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated), Whoopi Goldberg criticized the estranged wife of Governor Mark Sanford after it was revealed he refused to pledge his faithfulness during their wedding vows."How dumb was she?" asked Goldberg, ranting over Sanford's inability to foresee this as a sign of her husband's future infidelity. The Governor admitted to a yearlong affair with an Argentinian woman last June.

TV Moment of 2009: Rihanna's '20/20' Interview with Diane Sawyer
by Adam Keleman, posted Dec 29th 2009 9:00AM
Rihanna's first sit-down interview after her breakup with Chris Brown stirred h-diane-sawyeralmost as much attention as the initial scandal. Diane Sawyer scored the exclusive for a hotly anticipated, hard-hitting episode of '20/20,' which revealed for the first time exactly what happened on that heated February night when Rihanna's then-boyfriend Brown struck her, and why Rihanna briefly returned to him.
In the ratings-busting segment of '20/20,' a still-shaken Rihanna recounted in detail how an otherwise uproarious night quickly turned into a nightmare after she spotted a questionable text from Brown's cell phone. The picture-perfect pop star was clearly broken by the event, and it was moving, and humbling, to watch her in the seat opposite Sawyer confessing, "I just wanted it to stop."
20/20's real story of The Blind Side with Sandra Bullock included
by Allison Waldman, posted Dec 23rd 2009 9:02AM
Unless you've been living in a cave or don't keep up with what's playing at the local multiplex, you probably know that one of the biggest hits of the fall was the Sandra Bullock football movie The Blind Side. No, that's not a typo. It is a Sandra Bullock football movie, but unlike Goldie Hawn's football movie -- Wildcats -- Sandra's movie was very good. It's so good that Sandra's probably going to get her first Oscar nomination and -- depending on the competition -- she could win.
Well, ABC has noticed that The Blind Side has struck a real chord with people. 20/20 will take advantage of the interest in the true story on which the movie is based to present the true story of The Blind Side.
They're calling the special edition of 20/20, "The Blind Side: The Real Story Behind the Movie." That was in case you thought you were going to tune in and see the movie.
Chris Cuomo to Co-Host '20/20'
by Rebecca Paiement, posted Dec 10th 2009 2:03PM
This just in: 'Good Morning America''s Chris Cuomo can start sleeping in a bit later. According to the AP, Cuomo is leaving his morning post and heading over to '20/20,' where he will co-host with Elizabeth Vargas.
This may finally complete the shuffling over at 'GMA,' which, as we reported earlier this week, has Diane Sawyer leaving her spot to take over 'World News.' ABC executives are expected to announce Sawyer's official replacement, George Stephanopoulos, this afternoon, according to the NY Daily News.
