A week ago with 'Dancing With the Stars' returned for the current season, a new episode of 'Castle' aired afterwards and did something it had never done before. It beat 'CSI: Miami' in the ratings. Not a rerun of 'CSI: Miami.' No, it was a fresh, Horatio Cane dealing with his son episode. Now, normally, that's a slam dunk for CBS. However, 'Castle' took the hour.

This is all a way to explain the following: ABC has renewed 'Castle' for another season. ABC is not just jumping on a strong pairing of 'Dancing' and 'Castle,' because you can't count on that always being the best draw of a Monday night.

Today was the day for CBS and Warner Brothers to get the bad news about how Charlie Sheen's rehab has affected 'Two and a Half Men.' Instead of 24 episodes as planned, Chuck Lorre announced that there will be only 22 episodes of 'Two and a Half Men' this season.

The original plan was that Warner Brothers would deliver 24 episodes of the top-rated sitcom to CBS, a plus because the more they make, the more revenue is generated. That's not just this year, but syndication, as well.

Unfortunately, the reality is that Charlie Sheen's personal life and the fact that he was compelled to go into rehab has cost everyone involved a lot of money. Hell, as one of the highest paid actors on television, this action has cost Charlie Sheen almost $2 million in salary alone!

If this doesn't put a nail in the coffin of the Seinfeld curse (does anyone still buy into that?), then nothing will. If CBS decides not to give The New Adventures of Old Christine a fifth season pickup -- and right now they're not committing either way -- ABC is going to add Julia Louis-Dreyfus and company to its roster. This was rumored a few weeks ago, but now it's confirmed. ABC has sealed the deal to give Christine 22 episodes in a back up guarantee with Warner Brothers TV .

This isn't the first time ABC has offered to be Christine's home. It made a similar offer last season, then CBS decided they did want Julia's sitcom after all. Apparently ABC's head man Steve McPherson is a big fan of the show.
