At long last, Twentieth Century Fox is moving forward with plans to bring '24' to the big screen.

The studio has hired Billy Ray ('Shattered Glass'; 'State of Play') to write the project, based on a storyline that he reportedly pitched himself.

But don't get too excited: The film version may be contingent on a number of key factors, including whether or not '24' returns for a ninth season on Fox.
