NBC fall schedule includes new web extras

by Anna Johns, posted May 15th 2007 4:09PM
nbcA day after NBC announced its fall schedule, the network is also revealing other plans for the upcoming television season. It's going to start hitting the web a lot harder with '360 extras' from its hit shows such as Heroes, 30 Rock, and The Office.

For Heroes, the website will include more chapters of the graphic novel and character back stories. For 30 Rock, Judah Friedlander's character, Frank Rossitano, will have his own blog. Las Vegas will do a behind-the scenes feature, ER will have deleted scenes, and Medium is going to ask fans to help write storylines (wah?). And The Office will have a little program where you can create your own Dunder-Mifflin branch and do some sort of online challenges.

Personally, I think they can take The Office 360 a bit farther. How about having a place where people can create their own videos in their fictional branches of Dunder-Mifflin? I bet people who work in real cubicles could come up with some good stuff.

The Simpsons Xbox 360 console you'll never have

by Adam Finley, posted May 10th 2007 5:21PM

simpsonsExcuse me if I salivate like Homer standing near a box of donuts, but this is awesome. I want myself a Simpsons Xbox so bad and I don't even play video games. Our pals over at Endgadget, who know more about such things, say that the new system, created as a promotion for the upcoming Simpsons movie, is an Xbox 360 Pro and not an Elite, which apparently means less GBs.

Don't bother trying to find it in stores, though, because only one hundred of these machines were created and they'll be given away at different promotional events as we get closer to the film's release on July 27.

I suppose if you want to you could always just draw a picture of Homer on your Xbox with a Sharpie. Heck, draw Homer on everything in your house and pretend you won some kind of sweepstakes.

Highlight podcast for Anderson Cooper 360 now on iTunes

by Adam Finley, posted Apr 10th 2007 2:41PM

cooperIf you're a fan of Anderson Cooper 360, you can now download the free video podcast for the show. The podcast does not contain the complete episodes, just highlights, but it is free, so don't complain. Actually, you can complain all you want, what do I care?

If I may digress for a moment, doesn't Cooper look like he's posing in the JC Penney catalog in this picture? I don't know whether to download his podcast or put his shirt and a pair of khakis on layaway. At any rate, "Anderson Cooper 360º Daily" will offer about twenty minutes of highlights ever morning after the program airs on CNN. It's probably not a bad way to catch up if you happen to missed the program, or if you're like me and can't stand to sit still for a full hour.

Oh yeah, and you don't have to download or subscribe to anything if you don't want, you can just watch it right on CNN's Web site. There's all kinds of ways to get your Cooper fix, Cooper Troopers*.

*that's my new term for fans of Anderson Cooper. Spread it around.

Coca Cola: "Give A Little Love"

by Brett Love, posted Feb 4th 2007 7:38PM

I think I saw this during the trailers down at the local cineplex, but this is the first time I have seen it on TV. At first, it's a pretty convincing video game commercial. I suspected to see something about the latest Grand Theft Auto ripoff for the XBox 360 or PlayStation 3.

The tables quickly turn as it is another in Coke's "make the world a better place" line of ads. It goes right back to buying the world a coke and all that jazz. This one won't reach those classic commercial levels, but it's solid. I like the buildup as things get more and more chaotic right up to the grand finale, complete with dancing mice and motorcycle cop pyramids. Not even in the running for best commercial, but cute.
