Ghost stories aren't just for Halloween; some people enjoy getting the living crap scared out of them year round. For those who fit into that category, there are a few spooky television shows out there -- if you know where to find them.

From professional ghost hunters to people thrown into scary situations, read on to see our seven favorite freaky shows on TV right now.

There was a time when ghosts, apparitions and other paranormal entities led a quiet, under-the-radar sort of un-life. Now, thanks to the proliferation of reality or documentary-style TV shows devoted to the subject, the poor dead have nowhere to hide.

These days everybody wants to talk about their brush with the inexplicable, and it seems there are more paranormal investigators than actual ghosts stumbling around in the dark. How believable are these shows? Let's see.

Now this is a DVD release week. Lots of stuff for every type of TV fan. I'm definitely getting Mad Men (and I'm going to watch all of the episodes again immediately to get ready for next month's launch of season 3), and I'm tempted to get the season 8 set of Bewitched, though I'll probably wait for the inevitable complete series set. I've never seen The Guns of Will Sonnett, but friends tell me it was good. Hopefully that's on Hulu or AOL Video or Retro TV so I don't have to actually buy it yet.

One of these days I'm going to get these Route 66 sets. Since I haven't bought any so far and this is a Producer's Picks set, it might be a good place to start. Don't remember the Fat Albert Easter special. Maybe that's the one where he ate a lot of candy and got fat?

And if you haven't gotten the older season one set of House yet, you should buy this one because it's "Anamorphic." Which I think means it was filmed underwater.
