'Pretty Little Liars' Goes Back to the Beginning for Halloween Prequel (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 20th 2011 7:15AM
'Pretty Little Liars' - 'The First Secret'Alison's still alive and A is just getting started. That's the Halloween special we were treated to this week as 'Pretty Little Liars' (Wed., 8PM ET on ABC Family). We got to see Alison in action, and lots of clues pointing to Lucas as a possible A. He even said, at one point, that she'll get what's coming to her.

When Alison set up a prank for her friends at the scary abandoned house, everything went off perfectly, except for one minor detail. Her boyfriend was still at the party, meaning the big dude tussling with her in the hall wasn't her boyfriend, so was he really trying to kill her?

ABC Family Cancels 'Nine Lives of Chloe King', Preps New Pilot from 'Gilmore Girls' Creator

'Nine Lives of Chloe King'Chloe King's cat-like superpowers weren't enough to save her from the scheduling ax: Just as the Fall 2012 Season is getting underway, ABC Family has canceled 'Nine Lives of Chloe King.'

'Deadline' reports that the drama has been killed off after just one season, but that as ABC Family takes with one hand, it gives with the other.

Fellow newbie 'The Lying Game' has received a 12-episode back order from the network, meaning that it will now air for an entire season.

It's also been reported that ABC Family's already looking ahead by preparing to order pilot episodes of 'Strut' from 'Gilmore Girls' creator Amy Sherman-Palladino, and action drama 'Intercept.'

Toby Uncovers the Possible Murder Weapon on 'Pretty Little Liars' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jul 27th 2011 12:24AM
'Pretty Little Liars' - 'Surface Tension'Toby uncovered physical evidence of something on 'Pretty Little Liars' (Tue., 8PM ET on ABC Family). But was the hockey stick he discovered buried on Spencer's property just a broken piece of sports equipment, or was it something more?

He talked to Spencer about it. "It was snapped off at the handle and the blade was splintered like somebody used it to hit something hard."

Spencer's father showed up when Toby first found the hockey stick. As he told Spencer, "At first I thought he was angry. Now I think he might have been scared."

Spencer confronted her father about it, but he blew her off completely. "It doesn't mean anything. It's nothing," he told her, and then to prove his point he threw the hockey stick into the fire. But was he burning evidence, or just getting rid of trash?

Emily Uncovers the Truth Behind Ian's Suicide Note on 'Pretty Little Liars' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jul 13th 2011 12:29AM
'Pretty Little Liars' - 'The Devil You Know'You didn't really think Ian's suicide was everything it appeared to be? In fact, on the latest 'Pretty Little Liars' (8PM ET on ABC Family) we learned that everything we thought we knew about Ali and Ian wasn't even true.

Ali being dead in that video at the rock was just a game she and Ian played. She was alive when he left her there, meaning he didn't kill her. He didn't write the suicide note either, as Emily deduced. Or even commit suicide.

"When I read it again," Emily said of the note, "A couple of words stuck out to me. On a hunch I checked out my old text messages."

A Shocking Suicide Could Change Everything on 'Pretty Little Liars' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jul 6th 2011 2:41AM
'Pretty Little Liars' - 'Blind Dates'Unless 'Pretty Little Liars' (Tue., 8PM ET on ABC Family) is going to pull a classic mystery staple of having the killer pretend to be dead to remove suspicion, we can rule out one potential "A." And in doing so, they wrapped this particular episode with a genuine surprise. Maybe that's why they lingered on it for nearly a solid awkward minute.

Seriously, it seemed like we were about to hear the elimination verdict in a reality show, as the camera panned over all the girls one by one in slow motion. Oh, it also cut liberally back to the fresh corpse and the suicide note sitting next to it.

This is the second time Ian has died in the series, but this time at least looks more permanent. According to the suicide note, Ian confessed to Alison's murder, but can even that be believed? This is 'Pretty Little Liars' and a suicide note can be a lie. Hell, the whole suicide could be a lie.

Aria and Ezra Kiss in the Open on His Last Day on 'Pretty Little Liars' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jun 22nd 2011 4:47AM
'Pretty Little Liars'The relationship -- or was it? -- between Aria and Ezra reached a climax this week on 'Pretty Little Liars' (Tue., 8PM ET on ABC Family). Throughout the episode, circumstances kept them from being able to truly talk about what was happening emotionally between them, so Ezra decided to do so in his closing remarks to the entire class.

"I didn't expect to connect with you the way that I have. I never expected to feel this kind of loss over leaving you," he told the class, but really Aria.

She nearly let him walk out of her life with those closing remarks, but decides she can't leave things like that. Luckily, she catches him just before he leaves campus and, throwing caution to the wind, plants a huge kiss on him right there in the parking lot.

by Catherine Lawson, posted Jun 15th 2011 9:12AM
'The Nine Lives of Chloe King' S01/E01The Series Premiere of 'The Nine Lives of Chloe King' (Tue., 9PM ET on ABC Family) introduced us to a new teen heroine in the mold of Buffy or Claire Bennet.

Chloe King (Skyler Samuels) is just an ordinary teenage girl looking forward to celebrating her birthday with her friends and single mother, just like every other year ... until she starts developing heightened abilities and discovers she's being pursued by a mysterious figure.

She soon learns she's part of an ancient, super-powered race of cat people, called The Mai, who have been hunted by human assassins for millennia -- and that she may be their only hope for ultimate survival.

We saw our plucky heroine get pushed to her death from the top of a very high tower. But then, as horrified bystanders stand over her bleeding corpse, and the bad guy races down the twisting staircase to the ground, Chloe suddenly opens her eyes.

'Pretty Little Liars' S02/E01The Season 2 premiere of 'Pretty Little Liars' (Tue., 8PM ET on ABC Family) was packed full of revelations and even more mysteries. Like, OMG, where's Ian's body?

Much to Hanna's surprise, Lucas arranges for Caleb to come back to town. However, although Hanna may forgive Caleb for using her, she'll never forget, and so he faces an uphill battle to win her trust.

Caleb bears his soul to the skeptical Hanna, saying that he'd never told her of his true feelings because "I didn't feel like I could say those things without making a complete a** of myself. So I wrote you a letter."

Letter? What letter? Hanna never got a letter. She's been mad at him for skipping town without bothering to say good-bye. So when Caleb says, "I gave it to Mona. Didn't she give it to you?" Hanna discovers that yet another friend is unworthy of her trust.

'Pretty Little Liars' Season 2 Premiere: The Most Scandalous Moments

Pretty Little Liars season 2 premiereI didn't know how much I missed the nonstop drama of the 'Pretty Little Liars' ladies -- seriously, even their secrets have secrets -- until I watched Tuesday's Season 2 premiere.

After you get past the fact that there are way too many beautiful people for such a small Pennsylvania town, the blackmail/backstabbing/clandestine teacher-student affairs are ultra-addicting. Perfect for my spartan summer TV-watching schedule.

After the jump, here are my favorite ridiculous moments from the Season 2 premiere.

Five ABC Family Girls Who Could Be Your New BFF

by Jean Bentley, posted Jun 14th 2011 2:15PM
Nine Lives of Chloe KingIt's doubtful a mysterious stranger is blackmailing you and framing you for your best friend's murder, but isn't it strange that somehow it feels like the 'Pretty Little Liars' girls could be your real-life BFFs?

The same goes for the title character on 'The Nine Lives of Chloe King.' So you're not the most powerful member of a feline-like ancient race with nine lives -- you get the same butterflies when a cute guy flirts with you at your after-school job.

ABC Family has always done a good job at creating shows around likable teenage girls who you can identify with even if your life is nothing like theirs. In honor of tonight's 'PLL' return (8PM ET) and 'Nine Lives' premiere (9PM), I've rounded up five of ABC Family's most relatable characters -- ones I'd totally hang out with if I could (and they weren't fictional).

Nine Lives of Chloe KingWith the premiere of 'The Nine Lives of Chloe King' tomorrow night, ABC Family is finally getting in on the supernatural action that's so popular among teen-centric television, literature and movies these days.

The series follows a San Francisco teen who finds out she's the key to protecting an ancient, super-powered race from evil assassins. Sounds far out, but it's actually very relatable -- especially the performance from star Skyler Samuels.

In AOL TV's exclusive sneak peek below, watch Chloe have a normal conversation with her BFF -- if your idea of normal banter is "I think I died today," that is.

Pretty Little Liars, ABC FamilyIf you have a tween girl in the house, you're probably aware of at least a few shows airing on ABC Family -- 'The Secret Life of the American Teenager,' 'Make It or Break It,' and '10 Things I Hate About You' spring to mind.

The network has a new show premiering June 8 that looks to grab some of that audience. 'Pretty Little Liars' sounds like a cross between 'The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants,' 'Desperate Housewives,' and 'Gossip Girl.' But it also looks pretty good. Here are four reasons why this show will be a hit.

'Cutting Edge: Fire & Ice' Stars Brendan Fehr and Francia Raisa Talk Toe Picks

The Cutting Edge: Fire & IceWith the Olympics over, many may be looking for their figure skating fix. Look no further than ABC Family's 'The Cutting Edge: Fire & Ice' (Sun., March 14 at 8PM ET).

Yes, it's the fourth incarnation of the beloved movie that had everyone saying "toe pick." Brendan Fehr -- known for his roles on 'Roswell' and 'Bones' -- stars as James McKinsey, "the bad boy of speed skating," who's been banned from his sport. Francia Raisa ('The Secret Life of the American Teenager') returns as Alex Delgado, now a figure skating teacher. Of course, sparks fly when the two are paired together to compete.

Fehr and Raisa chatted with AOL TV about the new sequel, the hardcore training and just which one of them gets to say the infamous "toe pick line."

ABC Family Gets 'The Blind Side' Rights

by Danny Gallagher, posted Mar 9th 2010 8:45PM
The poster for A happy story that took home Oscar gold just got a little happier.

Fresh on the heels of Sandra Bullock's Best Actress win, ABC Family has announced that they have purchased the TV rights to 'The Blind Side.' They will air the film starring Bullock, Tim McGraw and Quinton Aaron sometime in 2012.

ABC Cable Network's executive veep Tom Zappala called it "a perfect fit for ABC Family," and I'm inclined to agree. Just don't try and turn it into a TV series remake that lasts longer than the actual time line of the story.
