Lust and Lies on 'Allen Gregory' (VIDEO)

by Catherine Lawson, posted Nov 7th 2011 8:25AM
'Allen Gregory' sex tapeIt's hard fitting in when you're the new kid in school, but we're not sure that 'Allen Gregory' (Sun., 8:30PM ET on FOX) is going the right way about it. This week, overcome with lust for Principal Gottlieb, the precocious Allen pretends that he has a sex tape of him and the principal getting it on.

Never mind that Allen's only seven years old and his classmates have basically no idea what he's talking about, he follows through with his plan to the end and destroys the supposed sex tape in front of the class and the principal. Supposedly in order to spare her blushes and save her relationship.

'Allen Gregory' Falls Madly In Love With ... His Principal? (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 31st 2011 4:45AM
'Allen Gregory' - 'Pilot'It's pretty rare for an animated series to be so clear in its vision with the very first episode, but 'Allen Gregory' (Sun., 8:30PM ET on FOX) seems to know exactly what it's going to be about. It has a crisp look, well-defined characters and a lead who's completely unlikable but utterly fascinating.

Voiced by Jonah Hill, Allen Gregory is more than just another genius grade schooler. He's arrogant, socially clueless and way more confident than he should be. And he's apparently into much, much, much older women.

When he first lays eyes on his principal -- and the first thing he sees is her behind -- he's immediately whisked off into a rather disturbing fantasy, to say the least, of the two of them jet-setting together on a romantic getaway.

Reviews: 'Allen Gregory' Disappoints But 'Beavis and Butt-Head' Rock Their Return

by Maureen Ryan, posted Oct 27th 2011 1:30PM
MTV has produced a lot of iconic images over the years, but when it comes to audio, its finest achievement may be a pair of unmistakable giggles.

'Beavis and Butt-head' (10PM ET Thursday, MTV) and their instantly recognizable "heheh hehehes" are back, but the news that Mike Judge and the network were resuscitating the slacker duo was a little scary when it emerged last year.

I have many fond memories of the way Beavis and Butt-head fearlessly and sophomorically commented on the overblown music videos and pop-culture icons of the '90s, but in a few years, I'll be exiting television's most desirable demographic, and I probably left MTV's a decade or two ago. Would new-school Beavis and Butt-head have relevance for those unfamiliar with their breathy giggles or would the show return as a musty and ultimately irrelevant museum piece aimed at the nostalgia crowd?

Talking TV Scares Up 'Grimm,' 'Chuck,' 'Allen Gregory' and 'Sons of Anarchy'

by Maureen Ryan, posted Oct 26th 2011 2:45PM
Good news (we hope) for SAMCRO fans: Now that 'Breaking Bad' has concluded its fourth season and we're not gabbing about that drama every week, Ryan McGee and I will be discussing 'Sons of Anarchy' weekly until 'SOA' ends its fourth season Nov. 29. In the final segment in this week's Talking TV podcast, we talk about Tuesday's eventful episode.

Before that, behold the magic: We talk briefly about the return of 'Beavis & Butt-head' on MTV on Thursday, the arrival of the new crime drama 'Whitechapel' on BBC America Wednesday, and the debut of 'Allen Gregory,' Jonah Hill's new animated comedy, Sunday on Fox. Then we talk for longer periods about 'Chuck's' return on Friday and the debut of the supernatural detective drama 'Grimm' the same night on NBC.

Running times are below.

Jonah Hill Previews 'Allen Gregory' and Talks About His Feud With Matthew Morrison (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Oct 24th 2011 4:15PM
Jonah Hill has a new cartoon comedy coming out on Fox called 'Allen Gregory,' but all is not well within the Fox family. Hill dropped by 'Good Day LA' (weekdays, 7AM PT on Fox) to preview the new show and also discussed his ongoing feud with 'Glee' star Matthew Morrison.

Hill wrote and voices 'Allen Gregory' (premieres Sun., Oct. 30, 8:30PM ET on Fox), which follows a genius, erudite seven-year-old who's just starting at public school. While Allen prefers to drink Pinot Grigio and watch Charlie Rose, his contemporaries are more into finger-painting. "In animation you can do things you can never do in live action, like I couldn't play a seven-year-old on TV, so we kind of thought that was cool and took it from there," Hill said.

What to Watch: TV Picks for October 24 - 30

by Stephanie Earp, posted Oct 24th 2011 11:30AM
Allen Gregory - Sunday October 30, 8:30PM ET/PT, Global/Fox

Tonight marks the series premiere of a new animated series with the sweetest timeslot of the week. Voiced by Jonah Hill and French Stewart, it combines plot elements form 'Family Guy,' 'My Two Dads' and oddly, 'Frasier.' Hill plays Allen Gregory, a super-smart home-school kid who gets plopped into public school when the economy goes south. He's a hopeless snob, but I think we're supposed to like him because hey, we like Stewie Griffin. And the good news is, 'Bob's Burgers' isn't canceled, it's just resting and will return eventually.
