by Jeremy Taylor, posted Nov 11th 2010 4:43PM
On 'America Live' (weekdays, 1 PM ET on Fox News) host Megyn Kelly was discussing a North Carolina woman who suffered a major heart attack but survived because doctors froze her body and resuscitated it two days later. This may not seem like a particularly funny story, but it was to Kelly, who was so amazed by the medical freezing concept that she burst out into uncontrollable laughter. Was It Legal for Anita Hill to Call the Cops After Ginny Thomas Left Her a Voicemail? Fox News Debates (VIDEO)
by Jeremy Taylor, posted Oct 20th 2010 5:07PM
Anita Hill is back in the news, 19 years after her allegations that now-Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas had sexually harassed her scandalized the nation during Thoma's Supreme Court confirmation hearings.Apparently, Thomas' wife Ginny recently left a message on Hill's answering machine, asking Hill if she would apologize for what she had put her husband through all those years ago. Hill responded by reporting the call to the police.
On the Kelly's Court segment of 'America Live' (weekdays, 1PM ET on Fox News) Megyn Kelly wondered if Hill had engaged in "criminal abuse of emergency services" by alerting the authorities to what she described as a polite and non-threatening call.
"It might not be threatening, per se, but it sure is bizarre," argued attorney Jonna Spilbor, who believes Hill is within her rights. "This dog has been asleep for 20 years. Why all the sudden would she pick up the phone? It's not so much what she said, but when she said it."
Lawyer Mercedes Colwin disagreed: "The is abuse of process," she declared.
Hopefully, if this debate continues, we will eventually hear from Long Dong Silver, the notorious porn star who played a starring role in Thomas' 1991 confirmation hearings.
Will Melissa Petro, Prostitute-Turned-Teacher, Be Able to Keep Her Job? (VIDEO)
by Jeremy Taylor, posted Oct 1st 2010 5:35PM
New York City public school teacher Melissa Petro has caused quite a stir by blogging about her past, which included stints as a stripper and a prostitute. Some parents, and New York Mayor Mike Bloomberg, want the 30-year-old fired, but that will be difficult to do because Petro has tenure.Appearing on 'America Live' (Weekdays, 1 PM ET on Fox News) criminal defense attorney Joey Jackson made a fairly compelling legal cause for why Petro won't be axed, concluding "it may be easier to get rid of the Pope."
Then Jackson's trial lawyer instincts got the best of him, and he started testifying as to Petro's character.
"I think she's reformed. . . What an example she is to come back from prostitution," he argued.
"Do you want her teaching your kids?" America First host Megyn Kelly interrupted.
"Um, that would be problem," Jackson admitted, with a smile.
Did 'CSI' Use Justin Bieber to Slander the Tea Party? (VIDEO)
by Jeremy Taylor, posted Sep 28th 2010 6:15PM
On last week's episode of 'CSI,' singing sensation Justin Bieber guest starred as a domestic terrorist bomber, and some Fox News pundits are suggesting the character was written as a Tea Party sympathizer (although the Tea Party movement was never mentioned by name in the episode). On 'America Live' (weekdays, 1PM ET on Fox News), Megyn Kelly raised the question of whether CBS and 'CSI' were using Bieber to take an "ugly swing at the Tea Party."
Does Kim Kardashian Have a Legal Case Against Playboy? 'America Live' Panel Debates (VIDEO)
by Jeremy Taylor, posted Sep 10th 2010 4:30PM
Does Kim Kardashian have a legal leg to stand on in her fight to prevent Playboy from publishing previously unseen nude pictures of her from a photo shoot three years ago? That was a topic of discussion Friday afternoon on 'America Live' (Weekdays, 1 PM ET on Fox News).
"It comes down to the bare facts -- no cover up -- on the contract and the clauses in the contract," was legal analyst Lis Wiehl's take. "Is there a time limitation on the contract? Is there a method of means limitation on the contract?"
"If the lawyer that made that contract for her three years ago did not put those kind of constraints in there," Wiehl continued. "(Kardashian) is looking at another lawsuit --and that would be malpractice with the lawyer who formed that contract."
Defense attorney Mark Eiglarsh seemed surprised Kardashian would consider a suit at all:
"Let me just make sure ... This is the same Kim Kardashian featured in that sex tape playing naked leap frog? I just want to make sure -- that shy meek young lady."
Yup, same one.
