Stephen Colbert Pokes Fun at Andrew Breitbart's Role in 'Weinergate' (VIDEO)
by Catherine Lawson, posted Jun 10th 2011 9:17AM
Andrew Breitbart was a guest of radio shock jocks Opie and Anthony earlier this week to talk about his reporting of disgraced Rep. Anthony Weiner's recent scandal. However, as we saw on 'The Colbert Report' (Weeknights, 11:30PM ET on Comedy Central) it all went horribly wrong for Breitbart.
In what's now known as "Weinergate," Breitbart showed the hosts an explicit picture of Rep. Weiner's genitalia on his phone and, much to his dismay, the hosts managed to get a photo of it, which they then Tweeted.
Breitbart's explanation that he didn't know there were cameras in the studio prompted an incredulous Stephen Colbert to show a video clip of Breitbart appearing on the radio show.
In mock outrage Colbert said "He was assured there would be no cameras. And look at this footage of him with Opie and Anthony. I don't see any cameras there. ... If there was a camera there I think we'd see it."
After Being Booted Off ABC's Election Special, Andrew Breitbart Spent Election Night Roaming the Streets (VIDEO)
by Jeremy Taylor, posted Nov 5th 2010 4:25PM
Controversial conservative provocateur Andrew Breitbart was initially slated to be part of ABC's election night coverage. However, after being pressured by liberal interest groups, the network unceremoniously booted Breitbart from the telecast, claiming that Breitbart had misrepresented to the public the nature of his role on ABC.Initially, Breitbart was outraged, declaring ABC had "damaged my brand." However when 'Red Eye's (weekdays 3 AM ET on Fox News) Andy Levy asked him about the incident, Breitbart was much calmer, declaring it "the love affair that never happened."
Then the Los Angeles resident described how he ended up spending election night:
"I went down to the little burg near me, called Westwood, and I gave live analysis to people on the street on what exactly happened."
Breitbart jests (we think.) But, really, we wouldn't put street preaching past any of TV's political polemicists, were they to had lose their privileged perch in prime time. In fact, New Yorkers might be wise to turn the other direction if they see Keith Olbermann walking towards them on the street this weekend.
PBS ombudsman criticizes Sesame Street for 'POX News' joke
by Danny Gallagher, posted Nov 6th 2009 7:09PM
Poor Oscar the Grouch. Not even PBS' ombudsman will cut him a break. No wonder he's so grouchy. Well that and he lives in a garbage can. That would make me more than a little perturbed.
A clip of a two-year episode of Sesame Street popped up on YouTube thanks to conservative blogger Andrew Breitbart's on his Big Hollywood blog in which Grundgetta, Oscar's girlfriend, makes a crack about "POX News" that sounds very close to "FOX News." PBS' ombudsman Michael Getler said while the name could be construed as a "clever and appropriate title" to the "Grouch News Network," the joke about the reference "should have been resisted.
I was shocked when I saw it. Oscar the Grouch has a frigging girlfriend?!?
