Worst Reality TV Shows Ever
by Leonard Jacobs, posted Nov 5th 2009 12:00PM
There have been dozens, if not hundreds, of reality TV shows since the genre gathered steam at the start of this decade. There are the big and enduring ones -- 'Survivor,' 'Big Brother,' etc. -- but many were just hot messes (thanks, Britney Spears, Bobby Brown, Flavor Flav and various other fame-seeking tools!). Here are our picks for the 10 all-time worst, most ill-advised, absolutely, incredulously, jaw-droppingly awful forays into reality television. What are yours?CBS yanks Secret Talents after one episode
by Allison Waldman, posted Apr 10th 2008 2:43PM
Well, we didn't think Secret Talents of the Stars was so bad. We were in the minority. The network has had second thoughts. After just one showing, CBS has canceled Secret Talents of the Stars. The reason stated is poor ratings. The airing on Wednesday was only watched by 4.6 million viewers, with fewer and fewer keeping the channel on CBS as the hour progressed. That's a bad sign. Bad enough to warrant the chopping block.CBS, Jack Osbourne sued over reality show
by Bob Sassone, posted Jun 5th 2007 3:41PM
A woman in Muncie, Indiana is suing CBS and Jack Osbourne because her home was mistakenly raided during the taping of an episode of reality show Armed & Famous (if you don't remember the show, it had C-list celebs like Osbourne and Erik Estrada as cops arresting people).
She's suing for $1 million, and named in the suit along with CBS and Osbourne are a Muncie police officer, the Muncie police chief, the Munice mayor, and the production company.
Goodbye Armed & Famous
by Anna Johns, posted Jan 29th 2007 8:29AM
Well, Adam called it. CBS has pulled Armed & Famous off the air, after four episodes (there have already been four episodes?!?). The series raked in a measly 1.4 rating during its most recent episode on January 24th, just barely beating The CW's Beauty and the Geek. That final rating was less than half the ratings of the premiere, which got a 2.9. There are three more episodes of the show and so far there's no indication from the network whether they will be burned off on air. Don't be surprised if they show up on Innertube, though.Armed & Famous was pretty much doomed from the start. Even though it got a bit of press, it was still a 'reality' show about a bunch of not-so-famous people who become cops in a rural Indiana town. Pseudo-celebrities Erik Estrada, Jack Osbourne, La Toya Jackson, Wee Man and some blonde chick apparently weren't interesting enough to grab ratings. Duh.
What to Watch Wed., Jan. 24

George Lopez (8PM, ABC)What, "'George Lopez' is still on?," you ask. Yes, indeed. Ol' George is back, and it's nice to see him again. For all the hoo-ha over single-camera comedies like 'The Office' and '30 Rock,' a well-made traditional family sitcom is a valuable thing. Tonight, George and Angie discover they might not be empty-nesters when Carmen leaves for college after all.
