If you wanted to give your DVR a break during the holiday season, it'll have to wait.The first few weeks of December are jam-packed with finales, specials and mid-season cliffhangers, and there's even a bow-tie clad treat on Christmas Day. In an effort to help you keep track of what's to come and shine a light on some hidden gems, I've come up with a list of notable December TV events.
So grab your eggnog and peruse the following roster, which features appearances from Dominic West, James McAvoy, Emily Watson, Dustin Hoffman, Anna Friel, Pierce Brosnan as well as the 'Sons of Anarchy' crew, the former Saul Tigh and the 'Revenge' divas. It's quite an array of stocking stuffers, no?
First Promos for Stephen King's 'Bag of Bones' Surface

A&E is getting spooky with their miniseries version of Stephen King's 'Bag of Bones.'In 'Bag of Bones,' Pierce Brosnan plays novelist and recent widower Mike Noonan. Annabeth Gish plays his deceased wife, Jo.
Inspired by a dream, Brosnan's character goes to the couple's lakeside property in Maine and becomes involved in a custody battle.

'Mormon' Star Pays 'Modern Family' a Visit, '90210' Alum Joins Stephen King Series & More TV Casting News

A Broadway star is paying a visit to the Dunphys on 'Modern Family' this season.'Book of Mormon' Tony nominee Josh Gad has been cast as a neighbor of the Dunphys who worships Phil, Entertainment Weekly reports. Interesting choice.
Gad and Ty Burrell co-starred together on the short-lived sitcom 'Back to You' a few years ago. Gad's 'Modern Family' episode will air at some point in the fall.

Odette Annable Joins 'House' as a Series Regular, 'Ringer' Recasts & More Casting News

Odette Annable is joining the cast of 'House' as a series regular. Fear not, 'Breaking In' fans, there is a plan in place should Fox decide to revive the Christian Slater comedy.According to Deadline, Annable's deal with the show does allow her time to go back to 'Breaking In' if the show gets a Season 2 from Fox.
No details on Annable's new 'House' character have been released, other than that she meets House in prison.
Producers are still looking to cast a replacement for Lisa Edelstein's boss character.

Stephen King's 'Bag of Bones' Heads to A&E With Pierce Brosnan Starring

Stephen King's 'Bag of Bones' is getting the TV treatment thanks to A&E. Pierce Brosnan will headline the miniseries.Brosnan will play novelist Mike Noonan, a man torn up with grief over the sudden death of his wife, Jo. Inspired by a dream, the character goes to the couple's lakeside property in Maine and becomes involved in a custody battle.
Joining Brosnan is 'X-Files' veteran Annabeth Gish, who will play Jo.
