'Late Show': Barbara Walters' Most Fascinating Includes Trump, Kardashians (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Dec 14th 2011 3:46AM
Barbara Walters, 'Late Show with David Letterman'Barbara Walters joined David Letterman on 'Late Show' (Weeknights, 11:30PM ET on CBS) to discuss her "10 Most Fascinating People of 2011." Letterman mused that he was surprised the Syrian president wasn't on the list, but Donald Trump was.

"Whatever you think of him, the man is fascinating," Walters said. "The day after someone else is elected, Donald Trump is still going to be saying that he's the candidate."

When she asked if he liked the Kardashians, another curious entry, Letterman stammered for a while and finally said, "I'm gonna do you a favor. I'm taking them off the list." Her segment with the Kardashians should be interesting, as Walters interviewed them back in September.

Barbara Walters: The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2011 - Wednesday December 14, 9:30PM ET/PT, Global/ABC

Poor Babs. She's forced to include the Kardashians on her list this year, though there's no denying they took up plenty of tabloid and head space over the year. Also included are Pippa Middleton, she of the royally sexy bum, Simon Cowell, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Eric Stonestreet of 'Modern Family' and is-he-or-isn't-he political animal Donald Trump.

'The View' Ladies Mock Michele Bachmann's 'One Word' Fallon Interview (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Nov 22nd 2011 1:45PM
Michele Bachmann's awkward interview on 'Late Night' is making the rounds on the web after she played a game of 'One Word' with Jimmy Fallon. With the lights dimmed, Fallon tried to take the Congresswoman through some word association, but before he could get the game started she blurted out "Partymonkey!" and "cranberries." Once they finally got going, she used the opportunity to toss a few zingers at her fellow Republican presidential candidates.

Tuesday on 'The View,' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC) the panel replayed a clip from the interview and went around the table sharing the one word they'd use to describe Bachmann. "Oops!" cracked Joy Behar. Barbara Walters chose not to share hers. "I don't think I will say it," she demurred. "Bonehead!" offered Sherri Shepherd. Whoopi Goldberg put a bow on the ladies' Bachmann opinions. "She looked fantastic ... but she's not presidential material, I'm sorry, she's not. Just my opinion."

Barbara Walters Would Like to Know If Justin Bieber Is a Virgin (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Nov 16th 2011 5:00PM
There are so many puzzling elements to the Justin Bieber paternity scandal. Is he the father? Is Mariah Yeater a liar? Will he be doing a paternity test on 'Maury'? But, in advance of Bieber's interview next week on 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC), Barbara Walters has been pondering one question in particular: is Bieber a virgin?

"Do you think he's a virgin?" she asked the Hasselbeck-less panel, causing her fellow-hosts to start chattering over each other. "I think we decided we don't actually care," Whoopi Goldberg said. "It's none of our business" Sherri Sheppard responded. "He's not free to go through puberty on his own ... leave him alone," Joy Behar said.

Taken aback by their response, Barbara reconsidered asking Bieber if he was still in possession of his V-Card. "Then I just won't do it," she joked.

Kris Jenner Continues Damage Control Tour, Tears Up on 'The View' (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Nov 2nd 2011 3:50PM
Kris Jenner's damage-control daytime TV tour continued in the wake of her daughter Kim's bombshell divorce, as she stopped by the 'The View' after two morning sit-downs with 'Today.' Barbara Walters got the interview off to an awesome start, misstating that Kim and Kris Humphries had been married for 72 hours instead of 72 days and wondering what could possibly go wrong in such a short amount of time.

Jenner went on to repeat much of what she'd already said, but teared up for a moment when talking about how this is a hard time for her family. "It's a tough time for Kim, and for the family ... I'm sorry, I didn't want to go to the emotional place," she said. "It's really hard to go through this on such a public stage."

Still, Kris doesn't regret putting her family on that public stage. When Barbara Walters asked her if she had any regrets about putting their lives on reality TV, she replied, "absolutely not." If only the viewing public could say the same about watching ...

Patricia Heaton's Family Life Sounds a Lot Like 'The Middle' (VIDEO)

by Stephanie Opella, posted Oct 18th 2011 5:45PM
Art seems to imitate life for Patricia Heaton, who came on 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC) to talk about her show 'The Middle.' Barbara Walters pointed out that like her character Frankie, Heaton is a busy working mother: While Frankie has three kids, Heaton is a mother to four boys.

Stories from Heaton's own family life often end up on the show. The 'Foreign Exchange' episode, where a student from Japan stayed with the Hecks, was based on an experience she had. "I brought our Japanese student to the set ... and he was enamored with Sue Heck, of course, but he never said a word in the ten days he stayed with us," Heaton said.

Hank Williams Jr. Tries to Explain Himself on 'The View' (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Oct 11th 2011 6:45PM
Hank Williams Jr. has had himself quite a week. ESPN canned the country singer's 'Monday Night Football' intro after he compared President Obama to Hitler on 'Fox and Friends.' Williams Jr. went on 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC) to try and explain himself. It didn't exactly go well.

Williams tried to make the point that he wasn't directly comparing President Obama and Hitler. He was merely making an analogy, he protested. Sherri Shepherd read the definition of the term, which read "a similarity in some respects among things that are otherwise dissimilar."

Williams felt vindicated by the dictionary. "How did you know who I was talkin' about?" he asked rhetorically, waving his hands and smiling. He went on to explain that his broader point was that the Obama-Boehner golf game was an absurd piece of political theater.

Barbara Walters addresses the Anthony Weiner controversy on 'The View'Barbara Walters broke down her thoughts on the Anthony Weiner controversy Thursday on 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC). She finds it hard to defend his actions, but doesn't think he should resign if his constituents still want him. And however offended she might be by the photos circulating that are allegedly Weiner, she admitted Thursday she found them somewhat impressive.

"What he has done is unfathomable," said Walters, "I think the pictures are disgusting, but I think he has hit rock bottom and this may be what he needed so that he changes his life. He has been a good and effective congressman." An ethics committee can investigate and chastise, she added, but he shouldn't step down.

Barbara Walters Would Take Meredith Vieira Back on 'The View'

The View
Come next Wednesday, the great Meredith Vieira will be saying goodbye to NBC's 'Today' show -- but the longtime morning show staple could be back on TV very soon.

"Barbara [Walters] adores Meredith and would welcome her back on 'The View' in a second," a 'View' insider told PopEater's Rob Shuter. "Meredith returning home would be a great ratings boost and Barbara likes nothing better than ratings success even if it means asking one of the regular women to have a less active role."

by Nick Zaino, posted Jun 1st 2011 4:15PM
Barbara Walters, Paris Hilton, and Kathy Hilton on 'The View'Last year, Paris Hilton was sentenced to 200 hours of community service as part of a drug possession case. Some of that community service is featured on Hilton's new reality show, 'The World According to Paris,' and needless to say, Hilton didn't enjoy the experience. Today on 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC), Barbara Walters took Hilton to task over that footage and her public image.

"You are dragged out of bed by this assistant, you don't want to go, when she says you've got to do community service, you say, and I quote, 'It sucks,'" said Walters. Walters pointed out that Hilton has said she wanted to help female prisoners. "Why haven't you done more of that and less of this?" Walters asked.
