Top Stories of 2009: Reality scandals
by Michael Pascua, posted Dec 22nd 2009 10:01AM

It's interesting when one takes the time to look back back at 2009, several scandals that occurred this year were related to television. There were four big reality scandals that occurred in 2009, most of them happening in the second half of the year. They have stayed fresh in pop culture buzz.
This list doesn't count Jon & Kate's drama, all the injuries on Survivor, So You Think You Can Dance, and Dancing with the Stars, Chima's explosion on Big Brother, or Adam Lambert's sexual preferences. Those events pale in comparison to the five scandals listed.
'Big Brother 9' Winner Adam Jasinski Arrested in Oxycodone Bust
by Patricia Chui, posted Oct 20th 2009 12:19PM
What would YOU do if you won $500,000 on a reality show? Would you buy a house, a car, or ... deal drugs with it? Adam Jasinski, winner of 'Big Brother' season 9, went the latter route -- he's been arrested for using his $500,000 prize money to buy and resell the painkiller Oxycodone, which is considered a controlled substance.According to reports, Jasinski attempted to sell 2,000 pills to a government witness in Massachusetts. He'd flown to Boston from his home in Florida, getting into the witness' car and showing him a sock filled with two bags of the pills. The witness drove him from Logan Airport to a strip mall, where police arrested Jasinski (but not before he struggled with the authorities and, according to the Huffington Post, threw the sock underneath a nearby car).
Nothin' but 'cookie' love - VIDEO
by Eliot Glazer, posted Mar 1st 2009 12:00PM
Believe it or not, the image to the right does not come from Sci Fi Channel or Lost. It doesn't take place in a spaceship nor time machine, and the screaming woman is neither under Cylon attack or enduring the brain-rattle of a jump through the time/space continuum. In fact, her name is Kathreya. "Kat" - as she is better known - was a contestant the ninth season of the Big Brother UK, and she's throwing a tantrum because a faceless, omnipresent authority ("Big Brother," who speaks to her through a black hole planted in the wall) refuses to give her cookies.
Big Brother 9 winners talk to Julie Chen
by Jackie Schnoop, posted Apr 28th 2008 8:02PM
Last night Adam won $500,000 on Big Brother 9. Now, I know I heard Julie Chen tell them she'd be giving Adam his check and Ryan his winnings of $50,000 on The Early Show as is the standard practice. So, I turned on TV as I was heading out the door to my day job only to hear them say that Julie Chen has the day off today. Huh? I didn't bother recording as they didn't mention BB9 at all.But there they were -- taped after the finale last night. I found the video of the interview on the CBS website. It's not embeddable, but if you follow me after the jump, I'll bring up some of the main points ... or, at least the ones I found interesting!
Big Brother 9: Season Finale
by Jackie Schnoop, posted Apr 28th 2008 12:50AM

(S09E35) Since Big Brother 9 is so into recaps at the beginning of each show -- and they briefly recapped the whole season at the start of tonight's finale -- I think a recap of what it's been like for an observer is in order, don't you? Let's see how quickly I can do it:
Oh, no! Writers on strike! Quick, get together a Big Brother winter season, make it couples, make it all about sex, get those ratings! Oh, no! The couples are flopping, go to singles, lose the "Til Death Do You Part" titling, sex isn't working, horrible hamsters! Make Sheila cry some more! Phew, it's D-U-N.

Big Brother 9: Final live feeds report - April 27
by Jackie Schnoop, posted Apr 27th 2008 9:21PM
Yes, this is the last Big Brother 9 live feeds report of the season. A bit later tonight I'll be writing up the season finale. It's just about D-U-N. Before I get to the jump, I want to thank all the folks who have commented throughout the season here. We have had a trying season with odd hamsters, an odd season itself which didn't have a lasting theme, but we hung in. We deserve the money!Big Brother 10 is slated to start on July 13. I respectfully request better hamsters, please. Read on past the jump for the latest on the live feeds.
Big Brother 9: Live feeds report - April 25
by Jackie Schnoop, posted Apr 25th 2008 2:01PM
I personally think that Big Brother 9 spends a bit too much time with the last two hamsters alone in the house. That was my thought back when the last eviction was on a Thursday. I feel even more strongly about the issue this season with a Wednesday eviction. It's prolonging the agony. It's like waiting on line at the DMV, sitting in the waiting room at the dentist's office. It's like standing in the express line at the supermarket with two items and being stuck behind a cart full of groceries. You just want to get through it, leave it behind, and get on with your life. The only interesting happenings in this period are the reactions to the jury questions. Read on for show spoilers!
Big Brother face off: Adam vs. Ryan
by Isabelle Carreau, posted Apr 24th 2008 2:01PM
I've been an avid fan of Big Brother since it first premiered on CBS. I watched all seasons but one so far (I was away for one summer with no access to a TV) and started reading up on the live feeds last summer. One of the things I like to do when watching is trying to predict who'll be evicted next. So even if Jackie put a "Who will have the jury votes to win Big Brother 9?" in her review of Wednesday's episode, I decided to chime in and give my two cents about both players and make my own prediction. Is my vote the same as yours? Read on!Big Brother 9: Final HOH competition, final eviction

(S09E34) "I was getting drownded!" - Sheila
Hey, I know I know the word is "drowned." But I'm not Sheila, the single mom, and one of the final three houseguests on Big Brother 9. I guess I made the foolish decision to work for a living and not pin all my hopes and dreams of a happy future on appearing on a reality television show. She made the decision without seeing even one season of the show in its entirety. I've seen them all. I would never be on the show, never!

Big Brother 9: Live feeds report - April 23

It's down to the final three in the Big Brother 9 house and this is what excitement is all about! Tonight is the penultimate show of the season and those zany houseguests are ready to break free!Or, perhaps, I might be just being a bit silly. After all, even though the houseguests may have their stress, what about me? I've written about them day in and day out all season long. Don't I deserve the half million dollars more than they do? Aren't I deserving? It's not about Sheila; it's all about ME!

Big Brother 9: Final PoV, final three, final HOH part 1

(S09E33) "Personally, I want to win this veto because I want to be a power whore." - Ryan
Yep, I wanted to get the atmosphere just right for this review of the latest Big Brother 9 episode. I think Ryan's sentence says it all. Well, as far as his own strategy goes, that is. He's sitting pretty heading into the final three as his position of Head of Household gives him a definite spot in the three. But the remaining three must wheel and deal, scramble, sell their souls ... whatever it takes.

Things are moving along for the live final part of the three-part head of household competition to be seen on Wednesday's Big Brother 9. That's right. Only the last part will be actually live. Tonight's episode will show the power of veto and the eviction which gets the house down to the final three. The winner of the first part of the HOH comp goes up against the winner of the second part on Wednesday night. Big Brother 9: Live feeds report - April 21
by Jackie Schnoop, posted Apr 21st 2008 8:24PM
Sometimes the live feeds from inside the Big Brother 9 house are interesting, sometimes they're not. Sometimes, even when not much is happening, something will come along to make you snicker. Today was an example of just such a moment. As Ryan was reading, the theme music for the show piped throughout the house. Who was getting down and dancing to the music? Sheila and Sharon were. It was worth a mild snicker and I don't think it counts as a spoiler. For real show spoilers, read on past the jump!
Big Brother 9: Nominations Ceremony #10
by Jackie Schnoop, posted Apr 21st 2008 11:46AM

(S09E32) "Team Christ has passed away and cannot be resurrected." - Ryan
It's down to the final four in that Big Brother 9 house of misguided malcontents. What kind of wacky shenanigans will they pull this week? I can't believe I actually said "wacky shenanigans." I don't know what came over me, perhaps cabin fever from watching the live feeds and the show this season. Have they figured out that the guinea pigs are the third preexisting relationship in the house? Ryan has to put two of the three remaining houseguests on the block while he has alliances with two of the three. A sticky dilemma indeed!
