The Black Eyed Peas Play 'Sweet Child O' Mine' at Super Bowl XLV Halftime Show (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Feb 7th 2011 2:45AM
Fergie & Slash, 'Super Bowl XLV Half-Time Show'After what seems like years and years of classic rock superstars, 'Super Bowl XLV' (Sun., 6:30PM ET on FOX) marked a return to the mega-production halftime show. Fans of the Black Eyed Peas expected a big party, because that's what the Peas are known for, but even they were probably impressed and surprised by the spectacle laid upon them.

What looked at first like legions of fans flocked to the stage as the performance began, but it quickly became obvious that they were part of the show. Decked out in white uniforms complete with lights, these dancers made the performance extend beyond the stage and encompass the entire field.

Even the stage expanded to write out the word "LOVE" by the time the Peas got to their first break-out single "Where Is the Love?" from 2003. In fact, the entire show featured a compilation of their greatest hits, along with a few surprises.

The Ancient Art of "Kilbyashi" on 'The Kilborn File' (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Jul 19th 2010 9:30PM
The Ancient Art of 'Kilbyashi' on 'The Kilborn File'Perennial All-Star and potential Hall of Fame basketball player Reggie Miller was the guest on 'The Kilborn File' (weeknights, 7PM ET on Fox). While he was on the show, Craig Kilborn had him play a round of "Kilbyashi" -- which is an ancient Japanese-themed trivia contest that is, of course, entirely invented by Mr. Kilborn himself. Reggie's opponent? None other than Craig's sidekick Christine Lakin.

Below are some of the questions that the players got (as well as questions from a previous round of the game). See how many you can answer, while imagining that Craig is screaming them in your face. All questions must be answered instantaneously, in accordance with ancient "Kilbyashi" rules. No cheating, please!

1) Name a fruit besides a pear that's green!

2) Who recorded the hit song "My Humps"?!

3) How many NBA championships has Reggie Miller won?!

'Idol Gives Back' Line-up Announced

by Rich Keller, posted Apr 2nd 2010 1:03PM
Idol Gives Back airs on April 21stI've never been a big fan of 'American Idol.' Mostly because the show rips up the FOX schedule to the point that viewers forget programs like 'Bones' and 'House' still exist on the network. And don't get me started on what it did to the 'Glee' schedule!

Still, the show does redeem itself once a year with 'Idol Gives Back,' which raises a good deal of money for various charities ($140 million to date). This year, the program will take up the entire FOX schedule on Wednesday, April 21st with performances by Alicia Keys, regular 'Gives Back' performer Carrie Underwood, The Black Eyed Peas, Annie Lennox, and Jeff Beck.

Donations raised from the show will benefit the Children's Health Fund, Feeding America, Malaria No More, Save the Children, and the United Nations Foundation. Donations can be made via phone during the broadcast as well as online, through text messaging, and via the primitive mail service.

Oh, to make sure viewers don't think the show is too charitable, the week's voting results will be revealed and a finalist will go home during the show. Hey, they have a reputation to keep!

'We Are the World' Remake For Haiti Premieres on NBC Tonight

by Allison Waldman, posted Feb 12th 2010 3:03PM
we_are_the_world_25_haiti_logoWhen the original 'We Are the World' was created 25 years ago, the music video of the final performance was put together in record time. Over a month of work went into the production. For the remake of the song, which brought together the likes of Pink, Celine Dion, Barbra Streisand, the Black Eyed Peas, Tony Bennett, Jeff Bridges, Bono, Justin Beiber... and more, the video, which was filmed in 3-D, was completed in about a week. Tonight, 'We Are the World 25' will have its world premiere at 7:30 p.m. (ET) on NBC during the Vancouver Winter Olympics.

This isn't just an entertainment we'll be seeing, although it's going to be something to watch how 80 stars were crammed together into a cohesive, musical chorus as spectacular as the original 'We Are the World' 25 years ago. No, this is also a call for donations because there is still a lot of work to be done in Haiti.

Black Eyed Peas Tackle Comedy, Kathie Lee Gifford on 'Saturday Night Live' (VIDEO)

by Donald Deane, posted Nov 16th 2009 10:37AM
Who knew the 'Black Eyed Peas' had it in them? In this clip from 'Saturday Night Live,' the Peas fly into a rage at Kathie Lee Gifford's poor singing and get some payback for ringing eardrums everywhere.

As part of a sketch parodying the fourth hour of 'Today', Kristen Wiig belted out a song as Gifford and profoundly irritated animals within hearing distance as well as the Peas who were standing nearby. Fergie delivered a vicious left-hook, and Will.i.am brought a diving elbow drop, but it still wasn't enough to silence Gifford.

Six things that annoy me about the baseball playoffs

by Joel Keller, posted Oct 21st 2009 6:02PM
Kate Hudson watching A-Rod at the Yankees-Angels ALCS Game 3No, this is not going to be another post about the shoddy umpiring or spittle analysis or any of the other on-field matters that have been going on in baseball since the playoffs began. No, we're on a TV blog, so I'm going to just talk about the things that have annoyed me about FOX's and TBS's coverage of the ALCS and the NLCS. In no particular order:

1. The Fidelity-sponsored Fox Trak. The pitching tracker, which shows if a pitch actually hit the strike zone or not, has been around for years. But, the flight of the ball has been to this point represented by a red streak and a dot. Now that Fidelity Investments is sponsoring the tracker, the red streak/dot combo has been replaced by a green streak/green arrow combo that mimics Fidelity's "stay on the line" series of ads. What financial guidance has to do with balls and strikes, I'll never know.

So You Think You Can Dance: 2 of 10 Voted Off

Cat tells us that the show has gotten four Emmy nominations for choreography. I'm hoping that the "Mercy" or Argentine Tango routine win, because I'm in the group of fans that didn't see what was so good about "Bleeding Love."

A grateful Hollywood watches aftermath of Perez punch

by John Scott Lewinski, posted Jun 23rd 2009 4:28PM
Perez Hilton got punched out -- but not by Miss California.Perez Hilton says he got a black eye from The Black Eyed Peas.

According to shrill gossip blogger and almost celebrity Hilton, the manager of the Black Eyed Peas planted a "boom boom pow" in Perez's puss this weekend. That roar you almost heard was grateful, repressed applause coming out of Hollywood.

A faux journalist (nee: rumor mongering hack), Hilton jumped onto the TV viewers' radar last month when he served as a judge for the Miss USA Pageant and started a war of words with Miss California over her stance in gay marriage.

Cane: A New Legacy

(S01E06) "It's not who you are, it's what you're becoming" --Pancho Duque to Alex Vega

Pancho says it all with this quote from next week's episode of Cane. What is going on with Alex Vega? He's a dedicated family man who adores his wife. He's a smart business man who has innovative ideas for Duque Rum. And he's a wrathful man who will exact revenge on anyone who threatens his family. All this in one person. I just don't know if this is believable sometimes.
