What to Watch: TV Picks for December 5 - 11

by Stephanie Earp, posted Dec 5th 2011 9:44AM
A Michael Bublé Christmas - Tuesday December 6, 8PM ET/PT, CTV/NBC

I will definitely not be watching this, but as I see this round-up as a service to others as much as an exercise in planning my own weekly viewing, I include it for all the people who, inexplicably, love this guy. The Bubbler is joined by guests including Justin Bieber, Kellie Pickler, Tracy Morgan and Ed Helms. (Forgive us, but we have to throw it in there: this unholy alliance can be called ... Bublieber?)

Booth Isn't Sure How to Process Devastating News on 'Bones' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Dec 2nd 2011 1:00AM
'Bones' - 'The Male in the Male'David Boreanaz got a chance to dig deep and pull up some genuine emotion for Booth in this week's episode of 'Bones' (Thu., 9PM ET on FOX). He wasn't really all that close to his father, so when his grandfather showed up to tell him that his father had passed away, Booth didn't seem sure how he should react.

So he opted basically to not react at all, but that never really works, does it? Brennan was in an anguish of her own, not sure how to help Booth deal with this trauma in his life that he wasn't addressing, but then she said just the right thing.

DC Comics Hero 'Booster Gold' Coming to Syfy and More TV News

by Crystal Bell, posted Nov 22nd 2011 7:00PM
booster gold syfyIf it worked for 'Smallville,' then surely 'Booster Gold' has a shot, right? Syfy has reportedly orded a pilot script for a one-hour drama based on the popular DC Comics franchise, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

Greg Berlanti ('Brothers & Sisters') will serve as an executive producer for the superhero project, while 'Fringe's Andrew Kreisberg will write the pilot and executive produce. Berlanti and Kreisberg last collaborated on ABC's 'Eli Stone.'

As die-hard DC Comics fans know, the series will center on Booster Gold, a washed-up athlete from the future who travels back in time to the present in hopes of becoming the greatest superhero of all time. However, his priorities are a little off. Instead of chasing criminals, his main priority is chasing fame and money. Booster Gold will soon realize that being a superhero means that you actually need to do a little work.

'Bones' Cast To Earn Big Pay Rise For Potential Eighth Season

by Laura Prudom, posted Nov 18th 2011 12:35PM
Bones castForget digging for 'Bones,' (Thurs., 9PM ET) the cast of the long-running Fox procedural has just hit buried treasure.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, supporting cast-members Michaela Conlin, T.J. Thyne, Tamara Taylor and John Francis Daley have secured new deals that will see their salaries raised to the mid-five figures per episode, in exchange for an extra season on their contracts. The negotiations were particularly pressing for Conlin and Thyne, whose contracts were set to run out at the end of this season.

Now, if the show is picked up for an eighth season -- which seems likely, given this news -- fans can rest assured that all of the regular cast will return.

What to Watch: TV Picks for November 14 - 20

by Stephanie Earp, posted Nov 14th 2011 9:35AM

Bones - Thursday November 17, 9PM ET/PT, Global/Fox

I do enjoy it when 'Bones' decides to have a little bit of fun with their murder scenes. This week, they find their victim shrink-wrapped with a Prince Charming doll. Turns out, the woman worked for a toy company headed by guest Morgan Fairchild, who always adds a dash of creepy camp when she turns up. Meanwhile Sweets prepares for his gun certification, despite the fact that Booth still objects to him carrying a weapon.

The New Guy Impresses Brennan, Finds Missing Snake on 'Bones' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 11th 2011 1:00AM
'Bones' - 'The Hot Dog in the Competition'As the new kid on the block, Finn has to prove himself to Brennan still on 'Bones' (Thu., 9PM ET on FOX). This week, he gave a very impressive postmortem analysis, and then proved calm and even-keeled even in the face of surprises.

Dr. Saroyan couldn't even manage that when a snake slithered from within the badly decomposed corpse they were examining. That at least solved one mystery, but the mystery of Finn's bad boys past wound up driving several people crazy.

It turns out while he did a few bad things, he opted out of going down a much darker road, which is what pushed him in this direction. See, he made the right decision. Too bad the same thing can't be said for Brennan, who opted to find out the gender of her baby without even telling Booth she was doing it. For the record, the baby's a girl.

Pregnant Brennan Cries at a Crime Scene on 'Bones' Premiere (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 4th 2011 5:30AM
'Bones' season premiere - 'The Memories in the Shallow Grave'With the season premiere of 'Bones' (Thu., 9PM ET on Fox) we find ourselves several months into the leading couple's relationship, and it actually works quite well for the show. Maybe skipping all those awkward early moments in a relationship will help the show avoid the 'Moonlighting' curse.

After all, there's still plenty of baggage to sift through, and a lot of that has to do with Brennan's lack of emotions. She tries to be rational in all things, which certainly isn't easy when you're pregnant. We don't blame Booth for taking a picture of her when she broke down crying at a crime scene.

Emily Deschanel Before She Was Famous

by Crystal Bell, posted Nov 3rd 2011 6:00PM
emily deschanel bonesBefore she was forensic anthropologist 'Bones,' Emily Deschanel, 'New Girl' Zooey Deschanel's older, less hipster sister, was a high school senior at Crossroads School in Los Angeles.

After her feature-film debut in 1994's rom-com 'It Could Happen To You,' Deschanel had a few more notable roles, like Stephen Kin's 'Rose Red' in 2002 and 'Boogeyman' in 2005, before landing the role of Temperance Brennan on Fox's 'Bones.'

The hit show returns for Season 7 on Thurs., Nov. 3 at 9PM ET on Fox, and expect a few big changes for our favorite duo. Bones is pregnant (Deschanel was at the time too!) and feeling the early kicks of her baby, and Booth is having a hard time adjusting to the life of an expectant dad.

Check out Deschanel's high school picture after the jump. Is it just us or did she look more like her little sister when she was younger?

What to Watch: TV Picks for October 31 - November 6

America's Next Top Model - Thursday November 3, 9PM ET/PT, CTV Two/CW

If you've ever wondered what happened to former Eminem protege of dubious street cred The Game, Tyra has the answer. For one thing, they just call him Game now. (It is tough to have the definitive article before your name -- just ask The Situation.) I wonder what Jayceon Terrell Taylor thinks of his strange fortunes -- which saw him nominated for two Grammy Awards only six years ago, and now he's a guest star on 'ANTM.' The model-bes are asked to write and sing a song about their lives, which, holy moly, that would be enough to get me to tune in. But bonus: they make a music video of their results, which Game (no "The") directs.

Zooey Deschanel Discusses 'New Girl' & Squashes TV Rivalry With Her Sister (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Oct 4th 2011 5:15PM
Fox's 'New Girl' is the highest-rated new comedy of the Fall TV season. For the "adorkable" Zooey Deschanel, the transition from movies to TV has been seamless. In an interview with 'Good Day LA (weekdays, 9AM PT on Fox), she explained why.

"I think of it as a little movie. It's more like every week we're making a little movie," she said. "Our comedy is all about building on the characters and it's not about jokes, it's about characters being thrown into situations."

Fox Orders More 'Bones' -- But There's a Catch

by Chris Harnick, posted Sep 16th 2011 11:30AM
BonesGood -- and "weird" -- news, 'Bones' fans! Fox has ordered four more scripts, adding to the current 13-episode order.

According to TVLine, six episodes of 'Bones' will air this fall (Thurs., Nov. 3 at 9PM ET on Fox), then the show will go on break to accommodate Emily Deschanel's pregnancy. 'The Finder' will fill the gap on Fox's schedule with the addition seven episodes airing in the spring.

The extra four? They might air over the summer or become part of Season 8 ... if there is an eighth season.

Stephen Nathan, 'Bones' executive producer, told TVLine that the show is still approaching episode 13 as the Season 7 finale.

"And then there will ultimately be four more episodes that we can play with," he said.

'Bones' Season 7 First Look (VIDEO)

by Jean Bentley, posted Sep 2nd 2011 2:00PM
BonesWhile they might've glossed over the most important part of last season's 'Bones' finale -- Really?! Bones is pregnant with Booth's baby but you're only going to tell us about it afterwards?! -- when the show returns in October, Bones' pregnancy will be in full swing.

As you can see from the two new clips below, Bones and Booth will have very different attitudes toward dealing with the baby on board. Bones is fully aware of how her body is handling things, while Booth is just a tad overprotective of his future child.

This will be hilarious.

'Bones' returns Thu., Nov. 3 at 9PM ET on Fox.

Take a look at both promos below.
