Jonathan Emerges a Genuine Hero in 'Bored to Death' Finale (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 29th 2011 6:00AM
It was the season finale of 'Bored to Death' (Mon., 9PM ET on HBO), and if ratings are any indication, it may well be the last we ever see of Jonathan, Ray and George. Ratings have dropped from nearly a million viewers each week to less than a quarter of that.Over three seasons, we've seen each of them grow as men and as strong individuals. Perhaps most shockingly of all, Jonathan has grown so much that he was able to emerge as a bona fide hero in this finale. After deciding to help his father with a $10,000 debt he owed a baseball grounds crew, Jonathan found himself held hostage instead.
A Break in the Case of Jonathan's Lineage on 'Bored to Death' (VIDEO)

It was good news and bad news for Jonathan all night long on 'Bored to Death' (Mon., 9PM ET on HBO). First, the hot girl who hooked up with him to continue his search for information about his true father slept with him. That was great news. Then, she proved to be a far more effective sleuth than him, as well as more savvy and focused in interrogation situations. All around, she was a pretty impressive woman. But they hit a seeming dead end when the sleazy former owner (Stacy Keach) of the sperm bank their mothers went to said he lost all the records. That was bad news.
Ray Thrown Out Naked for Cheating With Olympia Dukakis on 'Bored to Death' (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 15th 2011 6:30AM
A little tip from this week's 'Bored to Death' (Mon., 9PM ET on HBO). If you're going to cheat on your significant other, try not to do it in the house you share with her. When Ray got caught cheating with an older woman -- Olympia Dukakis, no less -- he was thrown out of the house immediately.Unfortunately for Ray, and the people out in the streets, he was in the middle of a bubble bath which "immediately" came down, and so he found himself running around outside wearing nothing but a swim cap. Luckily, George is there to help a friend in need, so Ray won't end up homeless. It also keeps him closer so he can continue going on wacky adventures with George and Jonathan, which is really what we're tuning in for every week.
Sarah Silverman Guest Stars as 'Friendship Therapist' on 'Bored to Death' (VIDEO)
by Catherine Lawson, posted Nov 8th 2011 9:35AM
This week on 'Bored to Death' (Mon., 9PM ET on HBO) Sarah Silverman guest-starred as a "Friendship Therapist" for George and Jonathan, and she didn't pull any punches. First off, she tells Jonathan that he's an obvious "pathological, co-dependent people-pleaser" and keeps telling him to stop saying sorry.Which of course, just makes Jonathan say it even more. Then Silverman finds the perfect way to exploit his people-pleasing tendencies: She has him (and George) rub her feet. "It helps with my menses," she explains helpfully.
Oliver Platt as George's Restaurant Nemesis on 'Bored to Death' (VIDEO)

The restaurant business is tough enough without someone coming in with the sole purpose of taking you out. But that's the situation George found himself in when his daughter's fiance, Bernard, took him to Richard's (Oliver Platt) new restaurant on 'Bored to Death' (Mon., 9PM ET on HBO).As usual, Richard was a complete tool, particularly targeting George's boast that all of his vegetables come from within 100 miles. So Richard insisted that his are from within 50 miles, which has to be like, twice as good, right?
Jonathan Saves Dick Cavett From John Hodgman on 'Bored to Death' (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 25th 2011 2:00AM
Jonathan's arch-nemesis Louis Green (John Hodgman) was back, and this time the two were booked on Dick Cavett's new talk show, which mean instant fun on 'Bored to Death' (Mon., 9PM ET on HBO). Louis and Jonathan are always brilliantly hilarious together.Hodgman is so delightfully evil in this role, that it was a hoot watching him lose his mind when Jonathan's segment was going so well, Louis got bumped. In an attempt at revenge, he intends to drop the curtain, but winds up going much further.
Is George Overly Paranoid About Being Watched on 'Bored to Death'? (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 18th 2011 6:00AM
With the police on his trail in relation to the murder last week, Jonathan and Ray were on the run this week on 'Bored to Death' (Mon., 9PM ET on HBO). When the pair of them headed off to try and solve the case before the police found him, George hung back to deal with the cops who showed up at his place.Afterwards, he headed off to meet up with them, but to calm his nerves he may have smoked a little bit too much weed. He started seeing spies and people watching him everywhere, so much that he stole his daughter's boyfriend's bike and ultimately dumped his phone in a mailbox.
Jonathan Calls Ray at a Bad Time on 'Bored to Death' Premiere (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 11th 2011 3:45AM
'Bored to Death' (Mon., 9PM ET on HBO) continues to confound with its third season premiere. If you just embrace the ridiculousness of Jonathan being anything close to an effective private investigator, you can enjoy it for the bizarre story of three friends that it's become. It's one of the most unpredictable and entertaining shows going. This premiere saw Ray meeting the child he parented through sperm donation -- sort of -- leading to a very awkward scene where he found a way to quiet the child. We feel bad for the child actor who had to suckle Zach Galifianakis' nipple!

The lab at 'CSI: Crime Scene Investigation' has been in some very capable hands over the years -- first William Petersen, then Laurence Fishburne and now Ted Danson is taking over the reins.EW is reporting that Danson will be the drama's leading man for the upcoming 12th season, playing the CSI's grave shift supervisor after transferring from the Portland crime lab.
"You can create a new character on the page, but until the perfect actor comes along and breathes life into it, it's just words," said executive producer Carol Mendelsohn. "We're very excited Ted Danson came along."
After CBS's exhaustive search to find a worthy person to pass the torch to, they actually managed to come up with an intriguing, well-known and likable choice -- and one that we never thought of.
George's Doctor/Girlfriend Catches Him with Ex on 'Bored to Death' (VIDEO)
by Aimee Deeken, posted Nov 1st 2010 8:00AM
Before George has surgery for prostate cancer, he and Priscilla are in the throes of a rather intimate hospital visit. "I am so glad that possibly the last erection of my life is with you," he tells her on 'Bored to Death' (Sun., 10PM ET on HBO).A voice off-camera says, "I guess that's your line with all the girls -- sounded so sincere this morning." George's doctor/girlfriend (Jessica Hecht) has caught him with his ex, though George says they were "just snuggling for old time's sake -- that's all."
Of course, Priscilla isn't pleased with this explanation, but there's nothing she can do. Dr. Kenwood, on the other hand ... a little payback during surgery, perhaps? "It should all go well -- I hope," she says ominously.

'Bored to Death': Ray Accidentally Punches Kevin Bacon in the Nose (VIDEO)
by Oliver Miller, posted Oct 25th 2010 5:09AM
In a sense, all the characters on 'Bored to Death' (Sun., 10PM ET on HBO) are leading a double-life. For instance, even mopey author Jonathan Ames (Jason Schwartzman) enjoys a second career as a secret private eye. But even on this show, Ray Hueston (Zack Galifianakis) is a special case. Ray is an artist who draws his own comic book -- starring himself as a character called "Super Ray." Now, at last, there is major excitement about Ray's art -- when actor Kevin Bacon arrives and displays an interest in portraying "Super Ray" in a film version of the comic. Everything could finally be working out for real-life Ray -- if he can avoid messing things up.
Then, Ray's sometime lover Jennifer (Kristen Wiig) shows up, and begins berating Ray while standing in the middle of a bar. Ray takes the abuse -- until he can't take it for a single second longer. A bartender wants to toss Ray out, and in anger, the artist pulls his arm back ... and accidentally punches Kevin Bacon in the nose. Not good.
