The Super Bowl Commercials: The Best
by Kona Gallagher, posted Feb 7th 2010 11:22PM
Look, I knew as soon as I saw the promo for 'The Late Show with David Letterman' that featured Letterman, Oprah and Jay Leno, that nothing was going to top that. There was just no way anything could be better than that 15-second ad. While I was correct, there were some commercials for non-CBS products that put a smile on my face. Of course there were many others that made me groan, wince or sigh, but Bob's handling those. The videos below are from Hulu, because they were the first ones available. If you can't view them due to location restrictions, they will all be up at Fanhouse.
Fox & Friends call shenanigans on Obama...for his beer choice?!?
by Danny Gallagher, posted Aug 2nd 2009 10:01AM
Morning news shows are a goldmine of cringe-inducing moments and epic fail goodness. The title alone makes me laugh because only half of it is accurate due to the fact that it airs in the morning. By far the unintentionally funniest show is that morning cup of crazy on Fox News, Fox and Friends. They truly cover news stories that no one else does as their on-air promos suggest because no one in their right mind would consider it news. I'm finally starting to understand Walter Cronkite's distrust of the 24-hour news network model: you'll call anything news to fill time.
Hosts Steve Doocy, Gretchen Carlson and Brian Kilmeade actually took President Barack Obama to task for ordering a Budweiser instead of an American-brewed beer during his recent "Beer Summit" with Professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr. and Sgt. James Crowley.
Bud Light: "Semi-Pro"
by Richard Keller, posted Feb 3rd 2008 11:43PM

The best line out of this entire Wil Farrell commercial for Bud Light: "Bud Light. Suck one"
Wil Ferrell loves the 70's, as can be seen from some of his recent movies. And, when he plays characters like Jackie Moon he really goes all out for the stereotypical characteristics that we think all big stars of the 1970's had. He also fits perfectly into the types of ads Bud Light pushes out each Super Bowl. By the way, if you enjoyed this little 30-seconds worth of Wil there is a 60-second version of this ad floating around the Internet that features a whole other bunch of "outtakes".
Bud Light: "Ability to Fly"

Okay, so earlier when I said Bud Light commercials are comedy gold, I should have stuck the word "usually" somewhere in that sentence.
While this commercial was funny, I don't think it's up to par with the typical commercials they put out there. There was just something off about the pacing and really just the overall concept that left me wanting a little more.

Bud Light: "Carlos Mencia"
by Jen Creer, posted Feb 3rd 2008 9:51PM
Carlos Mencia (is he a comedian?) tells a group of male immigrants in a bar that American chicks "dig a guy with an accent." So, they attempt to hit on women not through having accents, but through saying things like, "You have the thighs of a sherpa."
One woman is with a guy who truly does have an accent, pronouncing Bud Light as "Bood Light." I am not sure what the message is here: American women like accents, and that overcomes everything else? American women like accents, but don't mention our thighs? Or this commercial was stupid, offensive, and now it's over?

Bud Light: "Caveman Invents the Wheel"

Before we go any further, can someone please assure me that they're not going to try and make a television series out of this? Probably not.
I can hear the network executives now..."Think how funny it will be! We can have cavemen creating different tools for use in civilized life, but they continually use them incorrectly over and over again!"
Mark my words, "Cavemen: The Inventors" - coming to CBS this Fall!
Where was I, oh yeah. This commercial was funny but at this point I expect no less from Bud Light.

Bud Light: "Wine and Cheese Party"
by Jason Hughes, posted Feb 3rd 2008 7:05PM
A guy shows up at a wine and cheese party with a massive wheel of cheese. "I'm gonna go put my cheese in the kitchen." The start of a joke? No, it's another clever bit from Bud Light, this time with a guy smuggling Bud Light into the party under the cheese wheel. Let's face it, most guys think wine and cheese is lame. Another guy has bottles in a hollowed out baguette, while still another brought a television in a box of wine. The "Going on a cheese run," bit at the end was the icing on the cake of another Bud Light winner.
Bud Light: "Breathe Fire"
by Jason Hughes, posted Feb 3rd 2008 6:40PM
As we all know, when it comes to the Super Bowl it's all about ... the ads! Big audiences and big money is on the line so advertisers always go crazy to grab the attention of the largest worldwide television audience each year. This year's cavalcade of commercials began with Bud Light, with "everything you want in a beer." Now with the ability to breathe fire! Sure it's romantic when you can light the candles at the dinner table by blowing on them, not so much when your date has a cat and you're allergic. As in sneezing allergic. A short and funny commercial, Best bit is the disclaimer at the end done in typical fast-talk, "Ability to breathe fire no longer available in Bud Light."
TiVo's top 10 Super Bowl Commercials
by Brad Linder, posted Feb 5th 2007 10:39AM
TiVo's released a top 10 list showing the commercials that TiVo owners watched the most during the Super Bowl. The list includes two Doritos commercials that were produced as user-generated videos in a Frito-Lay/Yahoo Video contest, and a Chevrolet Ad produced by 19-year old University of Wisconsin Student Katie Crabb as part of a similar contest. The complete list is after the jump.
Bud Light: "Slap"
by Brett Love, posted Feb 4th 2007 8:24PM
Now that is a Superbowl commercial. I fully suspect someone to ask tomorrow, "Did you see that Bud Light ad, with the guys slapping each other?" It's an interesting premise, and does call to mind the How I Met Your Mother episode "Slapbet", which is a good thing.
I really like the editing here. Just having slap after slap after slap once we learn that the face-slap is the new fist-bump was great. Bonus points for the two girls at the wedding. We have to include everyone in the fun. And a nice payoff at the end when Larson slaps his boss across the face after saving the account. This is another contender for ad of the night I think. The only thing that could have been better would have been seeing a dejected Howie Mandel learning that the fist-bump is now out.
