Jon Stewart: President Obama Is Asking Us to Call Congress About the Debt Ceiling?! (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Jul 27th 2011 4:19AM
With the deadline looming to either raise the debt ceiling, or risk all kinds of potential trouble if we don't, Jon Stewart looked at the Presidential Address from Monday night on 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central). After all, the deadline is August 2nd, so he was expecting some harsh rhetoric.Instead, Barack Obama turned to the American people. "If you want a balanced approach to reducing the deficit, let your member of Congress know," he pleaded. But you'd better do it soon, and you'd better hope they pick up.
"That's your idea?" Stewart asked, after a moment of stunned silence. "Call your Congressman? Did the president just quit?"
