Woody WoodpeckerHere are the new TV DVDs, in stores tomorrow.

It occurred to me doing this post that I haven't seen - or even thought about - The Woody Woodpecker Show in probably 20 or 30 years. I'm not sure I'd go out and buy a bunch of DVD sets for the show, but a "favorites" collection might be good to own. He was never one of my favorite cartoon characters though. I was a Bugs Bunny kid.

The Baron I got in the mail last week. It was a British series from the 60s that starred Steve Forrest (yup, the one from S.W.A.T.) as an antiques dealer who was really a spy. I'll have to check it out this week and see how it is.

  • The Baron - Complete Series
  • The Best Years - Season 1
  • Bonanza - The Collection

Burn Notice: Double Booked

Jeffrey Donovan(S02E08) I like it when old friends of the main character show up for a visit. Generally, because they inevitably give out some personal information. For example, it seems that Michael has had a fondness for yogurt for some time now. The other tidbit was that Michael didn't have such high moral fiber back when he was working for the government. I'm willing to bet it was the reconnection to his family and friends that brought him back from the dark side.

The other thing that visits from old friends bring us is cool guest stars. Tim Matheson doesn't work near enough for my tastes and to see him turn up as a douchebag ex-coworker of Michael's was fun.

Caroline in the CityI have a confession to make: I always liked Caroline in the City. Maybe it was because it was set in the world of cartooning, or that I liked the fact that Richard was sarcastic and morose, or maybe it's just that I've always thought that Lea Thompson was really cute. Anyway, the first season is out on DVD tomorrow, and I just might have to pick it up.

Another syndicated-writer show is on DVD for the first time tomorrow too: Dave's World, the sitcom starring Harry Anderson that was based on the life and columns of Dave Barry. I miss Harry Anderson.

  • Caroline in the City - Season 1
  • Dave's World - Season 1
  • Kenny vs. Spenny - Season 4
  • The Love Boat - Season 1, Vol. 2
  • Naruto - Uncut Box Set 9
  • Prison Break - Season 3
  • South Park - Season 11
  • The Superman/Aquaman Adventure Hour - DC Superheroes: Filmation Adventures
  • That Girl - Season 4
  • Tom and Jerry Tales - Season 5
  • Tru Calling - Complete Series
  • The Wire - Season 5
