Medical shows can be so tense. There's never any time for the characters to relax, and everyone's always rushing to surgery or dealing with the latest life-and-death situation. But we get a break from that on the latest 'Private Practice' (Thu., 10PM ET on ABC).

The episode starts with the three main female characters just standing around in an elevator. Hardly the high-stakes drama we're used to. Addison, Amelia and Violet (played by Kate Walsh, Caterina Scorsone and Amy Brenneman) are killing time, and the trio use the elevator ride to discuss their love lives.

Amelia complains that she hasn't had sex in "weeks." Man, that's rough. "I need to get laid! I need to get laid really bad!" she says.

'Private Pracitce' has had some pretty great guest stars over the last three seasons. JoBeth Williams, Stephen Collins, Grant Show, Jay Harrington, Rosanna Arquette, D.B. Woodside and star Taye Diggs' wife Idina Menzel have all stopped by to play, not to mention certain members of the 'Grey's Anatomy' cast.


So it got me thinking: Are there any celebs the cast is dying to have on the show? I visited the set to find out and got answers ranging from an Emmy- and Golden Globe-winning actress to an outpouring of love for Alec Baldwin.

And all that guest star talk prompted Tim Daly to get fired up and say this: "Oh, I can kick Kevin Bacon's ass!" Watch and see why.

Little Shepherd! That's what we'll call Derek Shepherd's little sister, Amelia, who showed up on 'Private Practice' (Thu., 10PM ET on ABC) with some information that could change a patient's life.

And excuse us, but even if you're a hotshot neurosurgeon (cough! – Dr. Ginsberg – cough!), wouldn't you at least hear a doctor out if there was the slightest chance that it could save a person's life? Give your ego a rest, that's all we're saying.

There are so many actors in Hollywood who've been around since their childhoods, and yet no one realizes they're Canadian. Such is the case for Caterina Scorsone, who has one of those faces you recognize, but you're not sure from where.

This brunette beauty was born and raised in Canada, and is poised to break it big with her latest role.

Ever wonder what famous literary character Alice would be like if she were alive today? Well, ponder no more! Nick Willing, director of 2007's record-breaking, Emmy-winning miniseries 'Tin Man' is taking the classic Lewis Carroll story and putting a modern spin on it. Just as Willing took 'The Wizard of Oz' and twisted it into 'Tin Man', he's taken 'Alice in Wonderland' and 'Through the Looking Glass' and adapted them to the contemporary world in a 4-hour, 2-night miniseries 'Alice'.

Alice is now Alice Hamilton, a fiercely-independent twenty-something who witnesses her lover Jack Chase get kidnapped by two thugs and driven into darkness. Desperate to find Jack, Alice puts her trust in a stranger who calls himself White Rabbit, and suddenly finds herself on the other side of the looking glass.

She's a stranger in an outlandish city of twisted towers and casinos built out of playing cards, all under the rule of a devilish Queen who isn't happy about Alice's arrival. In her quest to get answers and find Jack, Alice must deal with a host of outrageous characters including the flying scarabs, the thundering Jabberwock, the Pool of Tears and the clinically insane Doctors Dee and Dum.

The 'Alice' cast is star-studded, including Canadian Caterina Scorsone as Alice, Kathy Bates as the Queen of Hearts, Tim Curry as Dodo, and Colm Meaney as the King of Hearts, among many others. AOL TV Canada sat down to talk to the director and Scorsone about the upcoming miniseries, and how the 150-year-old story is relevant to today's world.

'Alice in Wonderland' fans have been eagerly awaiting Tim Burton's big screen live-action version for what feels like an eternity, and its release is still three months away. Luckily, there's another new take on the trippy classic out now: 'Alice,' a Syfy original miniseries (two-night premiere Sun., Dec. 6, and Mon., Dec. 7, 9PM ET).

Starring Caterina Scorsone as the titular Alice and Philip Winchester as her mysterious suitor Jack Chase, this reimagining looks at the tale from an entirely new and modern angle, much the way Syfy (then Sci Fi) did with 'Tin Man' a couple of years back. Not surprisingly, it's seen through the warped looking glass of the same director, Nick Willing.

AOL TV got Scorsone and Winchester to dish all about their parts in 'Alice,' how it's "darker" and "sexier" than the original, their costars -- including Tim Curry, Harry Dean Stanton and Kathy Bates -- and why filming in an abandoned tuberculosis hospital was just as creepy as it sounds.

Jack Bauer's daughter is trading in angst for romance. Actress Elisha Cuthbert has been cast on the CBS pilot Ny-Lon. That's the one-hour romantic-drama-with-comedy based on the British series of the same name that aired on the Channel 4 TV in 2004 (only there it was called NY-LON; apparently the American version is initial cap only).
